Dining in swanky over-priced restaurants seems a natural by-product of having a grotesquely large disposable income. According to McDonald's workers in the Hampstead branch of the ‘restaurant' chain, the diminutive Russian is a regular.

It's not quite the perfect overlay, but damnit, it's all I can think about when staring at the new Arsenal alternative kit which surprisingly works. (It's actually an homage to an icon of yore. Personally, I like the Alice in Wonderland theory better.)

Actually, it's an awesome kit, really, and a continuation of Arsenal doing rather well (percentages) with their third kits in recent years.

Well they say if you don't ask, you don't get. At the weekend we marvelled at the creation of a Rene Higuita scorpion-kicking Subbuteo figure, and allowed ourselves to dream of other fantasy football figurines. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery and it's never more entertaining than when you are imitating Mr Mario Balotelli. On Saturday a honourable homage to the Italian's muscle clenching celebration against Germany was provided by Ken Tokura in the J-League. The Vissel Kobe forward bagged the winner against Kawasaki Frontale by sauntering in to the last third [.

So in the end found somewhere else and dashed across town in time to get the train from Kiev. Successfully negotiated the antiquated locker system and caught that train.

Home: You probably haven't even looked at it yet. It's overshadowed in this post, unfortunately. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but the Germans have had better home kits in recent years. Away: Amazing. It's just a shame they didn't but the old Adidas trefoil logo on this homage to Germany's 1972.

Corner: Bundesliga

The Bundesliga season started over the weekend, and short a homage to the old Soccer Made in Germany show on public television, it's worth asking about that league's appeal in the United States. In recent years, it's never been exactly high. The language barrier looms, even with the connections to American players.

Atletico Mineiro Fans Deface ‘Christ The Redeemer’ Statue With Ronaldinho’s Name, Make Unfortunate Spelling Cock-Up

A couple of gutsy, Atletico Mineiro-associated graffiti vandals went to the trouble of first scaling and then re-christening the 'Christ The Redeemer' statue that looks out over the Milionarios region of Belo Horizonte (a smaller-scale copy of Rio de Janeiro's iconic landmark), spraying Ronaldinho's name and number across our Lord and Saviour's back in a homage to his club's new superstar signing there was only one small flaw.
