Bolivar Liberators, State Championship game
I'm working on editing and uploading the over 1000 photos I took this weekend, as well as the many
videos that I've already posted. This website is a labor of love, in equal parts labor and love,
with 9 hour days on site Friday and Saturday followed by as many hours editing, writing and
uploading.

By Walter Broeckx As Tony recently wrote an article about some terrible grounds in the UK I must
say that one of my favourite things during the holidays is going to stadiums. I usually take a tour
when I can and so I have seen some fine stadiums in the world. Most grounds in Holland are [...]

Halloween begins my Four-fecta of favorite holidays, as well as the beginning of my favorite
season of the year. For those that would like to know, yes, I am getting dressed up for Halloween
this year. My costume? Popeye. The biggest Popeye ever, but Popeye nonetheless.
Now, here is The Offside MVP John Wolyniec doing "THRILLER!

Well it must be time for the holidays with all the firings that are beginning to occur around
the world of football. Plenty of dismal managers have already been kicked to the curb in other
leagues and now La Liga has its first prominent replacement happening this week. Atletico
Madrid's skipper Abel Resino is the first coach to go from any powerhouse squad in Spain and the
coach could not last an entire year in total length with his new squad.

There are, to paraphrase some numpty, few certainties in life. Death of course is one. Stupid
people with loud shirts on airplanes another and not forgetting boring soap operas.
But here in Indonesia we have another, uniquelly Indonesia certainty. Changes to the fixture
list.
I've not detailed the ones that have happened so far, Persija and Persitara have had games
rearranged, but now I will.

Instructions, mentality: attacking, passing style: short, tempo: quick. Ohh hang on a second, I
can do this for real now.
Last weekend I completed my Football Federation Australia junior coaching license, so am now a
'proper' football manager. Sure I'll be coaching under 12's, but thats not what counts, I can
pretend to be educated about the game, shout at my young winger to take more shots, and go to
official FFA conferences.

For those of you who paid attention to my very inactive Twitter feed, I was on holidays all week.
I'm back now, and here's a quick summary of what's happened in the past week at Toronto FC...
On August 12, we signed Haitian international left-back Lesley Fellinga, who had previously played
in the Eredivisie at Heerenveen.

When Celtic lost 1-0 to Luke Wilkshire's Dinamo Moscow this Celtic fan groaned. Out of the
Champions League in July.

Glasgow, it's 13 degrees, it never gets dark and the Scots are all on their two weeks holidays.

Philipp Degen is looking forward to making his first Premier League appearance for Liverpool this

The News feeds are full of 'Arshavin to Barcelona' stories based on a the smallest article in
this morning's Sun, which comes with a handy quote to provide authenticity. I have nothing to say
about this.
Of course Los Muppetos in the Spanish papers will see this then start running stories about
'Accoring to the English press Arshavin wants to play for Barcelona' and it will spin and spiral

It sucks to play for third or fourth place... but at least you'll get
to enjoy the rest of your 'trip' knowing that nothing else can be done. Stable Boy
Torres thinks there's no such thing as 'favourites' in the Confederations Cup anymore.
Yeah, because Spain were favourites and are now forced to play in the losers pool.

mysteriously losing out to the USA on Wednesday. Instead, you should all sit down

You know, the distressing fact that one's daughter has left school and is now almost 18 and can
then stay out as long as she wants without having to listen to her somewhat strict father saying
"Make sure you're home by this time or you're in big trouble" and hang around with boys and other
reprobates like that, is somewhat tempered by the fact I no longer have to get up really early to
give her a lift to school.

Sky Sports News must be relieved. England's inevitably comfortable win over Andorra finally
signalled the end of the English football season and as players, managers and chairman disappear
off to sunnier climbs, the news stories quickly dry up.

Some of the Tottenham FC crew have headed to Miami beach for their holidays.
We give you: Tom "pinky" Huddlestone and Aaron "see my drawers" Lennon, who have been seen
relaxing by the pool and taking in some sun in Florida.
Miami is definitely one of the hot spots for footballer vacations this year - and we are still
waiting for our beach-based Kickettes to email us with their stalker-cam evidence of shenanigans

We went to the San Siro with a lot on the line. It was the 1910 Derby, which made it a massive
game in itself. With our season collapsing around us, we'd fallen to Genoa, but come from behind to
beat Juventus at the Silvio Piola, meaning we still had an outside chance of finishing in seventh
and taking the last UEFA Cup spot but only if we could beat Inter.

Refs are human beings - which means on one hand players, coaches, and fans should treat us like
one; on the other it means that if you don't, we will do what we need to do. That may mean tossing
you, and it may go as far as making fun of you, or even gloating when your behavior finally catches
up to you.

After having negotiated a special status with the World's Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), FIFA is
upsetting other sports associations by being untouchable when it comes to doping. The operative
point of that status is that footballers should not be tested when they are on holidays, thus
ignoring the notification of the whereabouts of individual players.
