Let's just get this straight, KCKRS boys. Stuart Holden, his trembling thighs, his cute bro, his
Superman cossie (plus any accompanying tongue) and his post injury care plan are ALL ours.
Got it?
Good.
Bolton Wanderers are set to unveil the signing of defender Tim Ream after the US international
was granted a work permit yesterday.
Ream has been impressive for both the United States national team and club side Red Bull New
York, and will replace the departed Gary Cahill at the Reebok.
The 24-year old had been training with the Premier League outfit since the end of the Major
League Soccer season, and boss Owen Coyle didn't hide his interest in the defender.

Add Tim Ream to the list of Americans on the move this winter. According to reports, the New
York Red Bull defender has received his work permit, clearing the way for a permeant move to
Bolton.

Tim Ream's time in MLS has come to a close.
After spending the first two years of his professional career with the New York Red Bulls, Ream
is set to sign with Bolton Wanderers after being granted a work permit on Monday. Ream will join
Bolton on a transfer worth an estimated $3 million, the highest amound ever paid for an MLS
defender.
Sebastien Le Toux will have a week to impress the Bolton Wanderer's coaching staff, according to
manager Owen Coyle. The Scot confirmed reports out of the United States that Le Toux was on his way
to Bolton on a trial ahead of a possible transfer.
"We have received good reports about Sebastian, so we thought we would give him an opportunity
to come into the group," said Coyle.

Findley missed a shot from close range.
Everton - Bolton 3pm - Fox Soccer Plus With Stuart Holden continuing his journey to full fitness,
what would have been a battle of National Teamers becomes an opportunity to see Landon Donovan
makes his debut on loan from Los Angeles. Hopefully, it's available on a cable system near you.
Everton are in 10th-place, with Tim Howard recording four shutouts in 18 Premier League games this
season.
The Under-19 United States National Team will be participating in the Stuttgart Junior Cup, the US
Soccer Federation announced on Tuesday. The format is an indoor six-a-side tournament similar to
futsal. With that format in mind, the United States is opting for Futsal National Team assistant
coach Mark Litton.

Landon Donovan had his first training session with Everton on Friday, officially kicking off his
second loan spell with the club.
"We're delighted to have Landon back, he's trained today and it's easy for him to settle in with
a great group of boys here who will make it easy for him," Everton manager David Moyes said during
his Friday press conference.
Demba Ba... Wow, Newcastle just looks smarter every time that kid scores, and right now, that'd put
Mike Ashley at the level of Mensa genius. Ben Arfa and Ba both score as Bolton manage only 1 shot
on goal. Boy, does Bolton need Holden back soon.Video: Fox Sports

Why Bolton's troubles run deeper than Owen Coyle's management
Owen Coyle is facing major problems at Bolton – and if they go down it could put the whole
club's future in doubt. Why on earth is no-one talking about Bolton's £110million debt? People
watched Portsmouth unravel and they're fighting for their very existence.

here to stay. Image via Instagram.
New York Red Bulls sporting director Eric Soler may have said Tim Ream is not for sale, but that
hasn't stopped Bolton Wanderers from continuing to admit interest in the American center back.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle spoke about Ream on Thursday, admitting that the club is still keen
on acquiring him during the winter transfer window.
We've got a hearty helping of news you can use (plus a bonus blind item from the weekend) to get
your Mondays off to an highly unproductive start.

So, since I'm the thinking type, and we all know I love to prognosticate (for Whimp-pact fans,
that means "speculate" -- for you Sounders fans, that means "guess at what might happen"), I've
been wondering just what the Whimp-pacts selection of Brian Ching in the MLS Expansion Draft could
mean for our organization going forward.
Since yesterday's post dealt with a former Houston Dynamo player who was a member of the squads
that won the 2006 and 2007 MLS Cups, a video, shown below, that I came across made me decide to do
a post about another member of those Dynamo championship teams: Stuart Holden.
Holden, who grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb of Houston, joined the Dynamo in 2006 and
made his MLS debut in a 1-1 draw at New England Revolution on May 27th.

The Houston Dynamo beat the Philadelphia Union on Thursday night, 1-0, to advance to the 2011
MLS Cup Eastern Conference Semifinal. This episode of The Zygo Soccer Report features raw
post-match audio from Stuart Holden, Chris Canetti, Bobby Boswell, Adam Moffat, Brad Davis, Brian
Ching, and Dominic Kinnear.
Put your hand up if you are an underwhelmed about the Jurgen Klinsmann era at U.S. Soccer as
I am?
After last night's 1-0 defeat to Ecuador at Red Bull Arena, the USA has managed just two goals
in seven and a half hours of play since Klinsmann took over for Bob Bradley. Under Klinsmann's
leadership the USA record is now a miserable three defeats, one draw, and one win in five
games.

Kirsten, Amanda and Megan discuss Seattle's supreme dominance of the US Open Cup after the
Sounders' third straight title in the competition. They talk about the merits of the Open Cup,
compared to the league itself, compared to the playoffs. The MLS playoff chase is heating up, as
several teams from the East vie for their places.
Frank Klopas put out a starting lineup consisting largely of bench players. That lineup went out
and got itself a key road draw while providing rest for normal starters going into the US Open Cup
final. As Tweed mentioned earlier this was a rather drab affair. Yet there are several things worth
discussing.
Yep, the Stuart Holden bad news changed things in both this defensive midfield ranking and the
two-way man list to drop on Tuesday. As I said on day one, those injured past January can take
drops, as our view here is to the first qualifier.Originally, I had Holden (out until April-ish) as
the topper at the #8 position and Michael Bradley atop this depth chart.
STARTERSDuring surgery yesterday to clean Stuart Holden's knee that he injured last spring more damage was
found and more extensive surgery was needed. Do to this Holden wil not be out for 6 more MONTHS,
not weeks as originally thought. Damn.

American midfielder Stuart Holden to miss another six months with knee injury - Soccer Insider -
The Washington Post: It is rare that I get to link the blog of my favorite writer on US Soccer as
there aren't many cross-over topics between his blog (mostly focused on the USMNT and MLS) and our
Premier League and Premier League Fantasy blog.
By Tony Edwards - San Jose, CA (Sep 20, 2011) US Soccer Players -- In this edition of the 5
Questions, Tony asks about MLS teams in the Champions Leagues, Bolton without Holden, and youth
development, financial fair play, and what MLS teams are better than average away from home. As
always, your contributions are welcome in the comments section.

Kickette ladies and gentlemen, please join us in wishing Stu Holden a big ol' get well soon. The
Bolton and USMNT midfielder found out yesterday that he'll be sidelined for another six months on
top of the six months he's already missed due to a nasty knee injury.
Having already successfully undergone surgery following the horrific tackle during USMNT duty
against the Netherlands, Stuart Holden is set to undergo "follow-up surgery" on his knee according
to several news outlets. They describe it as routine and was most likely going to happen in the
offseason, but after consultation had it moved up.
US National Team midfielder Stuart Holden will miss six months as he recovers from a follow-up
surgery to the injury that already left him out of action from March. Holden was inured against
Manchester United last season, only returning to the squad on September 20th when he played 90
minutes in a League Cup game.
Bad news struck an all-around good guy today in a way that, in another situation, would have seemed
almost comical. Bolton and U.S. national team midfielder Stuart Holden is out for six months,
according to his club. The initial reports ...

The news went from bad to worse for Stuart Holden in a matter of hours.
Previously thought to be missing six weeks of action after needing a routine follow-up procedure
on his surgically repaired knee, now Holden is set to miss the next six months of action, according
to his club, Bolton.
Holden will undergo a routine follow-up operation on his kneeStuart Holden's comeback from injury will be delayed for a few weeks as the U.S. midfielder
undergoes a routine follow-up surgery on his knee. The operation was originally scheduled for next
summer but Bolton has decided to move it up.
USA international Stuart Holden will be sidelined for six months after it was discovered that he
has cartilage damage yesterday following a "routine procedure".
The news soon broke after he tweeted:
"Floored, devastated, gutted, just a few words I can think of. I will continue to fight and I'm
ready for another tough journey.
Stuart Holden's latest comeback has hit a minor snag.
Holden will miss the next six weeks after he undergoes a follow-up surgery on his recently
repaired knee.
"Our prime concern has always been Stuart's welfare and his long-term health and fitness,"
Bolton manager Owen Coyle said on the club's official website.

The fourth installment of the Free on a Bosman program, enumerated with the classy Roman numeral

Jared and I start with the good news and the bad news around the USMNT. Just when Holden gets back,
down goes Torres. Gooch is playing well (maybe?
In a game that saw RVP get his 100th goal for Arsenal, it was an all Arsenal all the time match,
with all three goals coming in the 2nd half. Van Persie scores a brace and Song puts the nail in
the coffin as the Gunners dominate 2/3rds of the possession and outshot Bolton 27 to 3. If you were
looking for a Holden sighting, he's still not up with the 1st team yet.
Kirsten, Shana, and Megan feature in this episode, as we report on the USWNT's match against
Canada, which, of course, evolves into a conversation about Hope Solo's wardrobe on Dancing with
the Stars. We probably analyze what Hope's presence on the show could mean for the USWNT a little
too much, but in the end we agree it's all in good fun.
Stuart Holden got back into the mix this Tuesday playing for Bolton in a 2-0 win over Aston
Villa in a Carling Cup fixture. It was his first competitive start in six months after a Jonny
Evans tackle tore his knee ligaments.
Holden had to undergo reconstructive surgery and subsequent rehabilitation for his injured
knee.

That said, standing in the River End during a game, you can't help but be optimistic that MLS is
veering toward an organic and testosterone-driven experience. That is perhaps the biggest sign of
soccer's growth in this country.
