A comfortable scoreline and advancement to the next round of the FA Cup. Struggling players
getting on the scoresheet. A good day, then. Even a great day. When absolutely nothing went wrong
and no bad news came out...
* Luis Suarez served the second match of his eight-game ban, Andy Carroll scored, and
Stewart Downing broke his 22-match scoring drought.
It wasn't all bad in the early going for Liverpool. The club was comfortably in the top ten in
spite of the various struggles and unanswered questions, and there was a win in the derby over
Everton despite Dirk Kuyt's first ever penalty miss for Liverpool to boost spirits. It might not
have been the start fans had been hoping for after the way the previous season had ended, but it
also wasn't the end of the world.
During Prime Minister's questions yesterday, Luciana Berger, Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree,
urged David Cameron to apologise for what she described as 'grossly offensive' comments about the
ongoing question for justice over the Hillsborough disaster.

Cameron is alleged to have compared the Hillsborough families' search for closure to a 'blind man,
in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there'.
For over 20 years, Anne Williams has fought in vain for a new inquest into the death of her son
Kevin, who was one of 96 Liverpool football fans killed in the Hillsborough stadium disaster. Anne
believes the original inquest into Kevin's death was 'riddled with corruption', and that 'vital
evidence' was suppressed.
First John Henry and Fenway Sports Group were out to destroy the glory of English football. Then
there was Suarezgateāat least until the long needed debate on Hillsborough in parliament bumped
that to the back burner. In the midst of all that there was the small matter of a match against
Manchester United to round things out.
A former judge has controversially called on the Liverpool families involved in the Hillsborough
disaster to behave more like the relatives of victims of the Bradford City stadium disaster.
In an ill-advised letter to The Times, Sir Oliver Popplewell, who chaired the public inquiry into
the 1985 fire at the Valley Parade stadium that killed 56 people, argued:
"The citizens of Bradford behaved with quiet dignity and great courage.
A landmark day in the fight for justice when this evening Hillsborough was debated in the house of
commons. A truly moving and inspirational opening speech by Steve Rotherham was applauded by the
house and families watching in the gallery.
The home secretary has promised to release the files without making any changes to them and handing
them over to the panel and the families.
The end to an arduous 22-year campaign for truth surrounding the Hillsborough disaster
could at last be in sight as the UK government has confirmed it will release all contemporary
documents relating to the day in question.
After a 139,000-strong online petition and a moving parliamentary debate
led Home Secretary Theresa May to announce up to 300,000 files will be
released.
As parliament prepares to debate the full release of documents relating to Hillsborough and the
long-suspended dominos begin to fall, momentum building towards what seems more and more an
inevitable release of what has shamefully been kept hidden for far too long, it's been a nervous
day of remembrance and retrospect for many just as much as one of cautious hope for the future.
On On April 15 1989 24,000 Liverpool fans travelled to watch an FA Cup Semi Final against
Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday, 766 were injured on the day and
96 of them were never to return.
Over 22 years on, the search for the same thing remains unwaveringly since the day the tragedy
happened.
This is a sincere request to anyone reading, Liverpool fan or not. You may have read on Twitter or
seen in the news this week that the government are going to appeal against a ruling to release the
documents and minutes from the meetings with Margaret Thatcher after the Hillsborough disaster. Not
only is it despicable that they are even trying to keep these documents a secret, it is sickening
Right, starting Friday off with the most important bit if you live in the UK and happen to have
missed the petition going around for full release of all documents pertaining to Hillsborough,
please hit the link to sign up and lend your name to the cause. Those of us outside the UK can only
support from afar and get the word out; Chris from Paisley Gates alerted us to the fact that the
Hillsborough Justice Campaign has asked that only legal UK residents take part, as names with fake
addresses will only weaken the petition.
More than twenty years on from the Hillsborough disaster and still, it seems, attempts will be made
to deny those who most need the truth the access they demand and deserve.
The BBC reports:
"The government is appealing against an order to release cabinet discussions from the aftermath of
the 1989 Hillsborough stadium disaster.
There's big news and number crunching and behind the scenes insights to get to in a crowded news
and notes today, so without further ado let's get right to it...
* Potentially huge news in the ongoing Hillsborough fight surfaced yesterday when the
government was ordered by the Information Commissioner to release Margaret Thatcher's private files
on the disaster.
Carragher helps reveal the new Liverpool away kit... Liverpool are off to London tomorrow to face
slim hopers Arsenal who are still in with a chance of grasping the title, more so mathematically
than realistically but nonetheless the Gunnars will be looking for all 3 points. Liverpool have
never won at The Emirates but we've collected plenty of draws in the past.
22 years later, there are still families and survivors coming to terms with the unspeakable tragedy
they've suffered. There are still many who don't understand the actual causes of the disaster, in
part thanks to a major newspaper which continues to traffic in lies. And there are many still
fighting for justice and the truth.
Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster in which 96 Liverpool fans lost
their lives. A memorial service will be held at Anfield today to remember those supporters.

April 15th sees the 22nd Hillsborough Memorial Service take place at Anfield, 22 years since 96
people so tragically lost their lives and hundreds more were injured on a day where many
questions remain unanswered. All these years on the truth still waits to be told but those that
never returned from Hillsborough on that fateful day of April 15th 1989 will never be forgotten or
will ever walk alone.

Ian's actual match ticket for the Leppings Lane end... For this year's Hillsborough anniversary i
am proud to say that i have paired up with Ian from PassionatelyRED (@Ian_LFC) to make a blog
post. At this surely emotional time i would like to thank Ian for bringing up this idea and helping
me make a post which will hopefully reach a few people and help educate them about the disaster.
A statement from Liverpool FC fansite Red and White Kop.
