The Webb City school board is being pushed once again to add Girls Soccer to the activities offered by the school. You may recall in the Summer of 2008 when the School Board said no

Superintendent Ron Lankford said the R-7 Board of Education voted June 10 not to add girls soccer and golf programs this fall based on his recommendation.

High School Girls Select Tryouts will be held at Lake Country Soccer in Springfield, Missouri on June 15th and June 17th, from 6:30 8:30 pm. both nights. We will be on field #8 which is the furthest SW field on the South side of the soccer complex/building. Bring water and bring a soccer ball with you!

Kindra Lierz, Glendale Falcons (2014)

The Missouri Soccer Coaches Association has released the Class 3 Southwest Region Honors. The Region includes Districts 11 and 12, won by Glendale and Parkview respectively. Glendale finished 3rd in the recently completed Class 3 State Tournament. District 11 includes Finalist Kickapoo, Ozark, Nixa and Branson.

The Class 1 Final 4 will open on Friday morning with an 11:00 am match between St Vincent and Orchard Farm. The Springfield Catholic girls will take the field to defend their State Title at 1:00 pm on Friday, opening with a semifinal against Kansas City-based Pembroke Hill. I'm picking St Vincent to advance to their second Final in three years where they will fall to Catholic for the second year in a row.

Emily Cline, Glendale Falcons (2011) at 2009 Semifinal vs IWA

The Class 3 playoffs will open Friday at 5:00 pm with a St Louis semifinal between Incarnate Word and Ursuline Academy. The Glendale Falcons will then take on the defending State Champion Liberty Jays at 7:00 pm. It should be a pretty good weekend with three of the teams ranked in the ESPN Rise Powerade Fab 50 including #10 Liberty, #43 Incarnate Word and #47 Ursuline.

The Class 2 semifinal round will open at noon on Friday with a pair of St Louis teams facing off, followed by a pair of Kansas City area teams at 2:00 pm

Alix Opfer, Glendale Falcons (2012)

The Falcon's are in Columbia today for their Quarterfinal match against the Rock Bridge Bruins. The Falcon's only loss this season came at the hands of the Bruins, when the teams met earlier this year in the 2nd round of the Kickapoo Shootout. Rock Bridge won 3-2 before falling to Nixa in OT of the Championship game.

A reminder Springfield Catholic will be collecting cases of water and taking cash donations for the tornado victims at the game today. The game is at 1:00 pm and is being played at Harrison Stadium due to standing water at Catholic HS.

No games of interest to Southwest Missouri unfortunately but I'll be keeping an eye on the Moberly vs Harrisonville game. Harrisonville has one Southwest Baptist signee in Shalyn Wheeler (pictured) who Head Coach Rob Podeyn (seated in back row, in black shirt with black sunglasses) was out watching during the the Sectional game at Rogersville last weekend.

Springfield Catholic High School will be accepting donations of water and money at the Quarterfinal soccer match they are hosting Saturday.

You are invited to bring water (by the case please) as well as cash donations to the game. Representatives from the High School will be there to collect them and ensure they are delivered to Joplin.

The Missouri Class 2 Playoffs continue with the Final 16 (Sectionals) today. The local representative are the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats who defeated Marshfield to earn their first ever District title in their third year of existence.

The Class 2 game between Logan-Rogersville and Harrisonville will be played at Logan-Rogersville High School, a 5:30 pm start time (although I'm betting on a change due to field conditions!

UPDATED From AR.Preps.com Frequent and intense storms postponed three of the four high school soccer state championship games scheduled for Friday. The only title game that was completed was the Class 4A girls final between Pulaski Academy and Valley View, which was delayed twice by lightning before Pulaski Academy won 2-1 in overtime.

The Arkansas State Soccer Finals begin today in Fayetteville on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

The Harrison Goblins, a Group Winner at the Ozark Tigers tournament in April, will play Little Rock Christian today in the 5A Girls Title game.

UPDATE The game at Ozark High School has been moved to 4pm today. The rematch, the one for all the marbles, grab your favorite sports cliches folks.

We'll know three of the four Sectional teams vying for a single spot in the State Final 4 by the end of the evening. The fourth slot will be determined tomorrow when Glendale and Nixa play. Note that there may be a time change on that game to try and avoid weather issues.
