First year coach Tom Guinn didn't know what to expect when he took the job as head coach of the boys soccer team at Springfield Catholic. He had never even seen them play. Guinn knew about the team's recent success but he was told the Irish had lost quite a few seniors and he would have his work cut out for him.

With identical 8-1 Conference records, the Joplin Eagles, Kickapoo Chiefs and Waynesville Tigers share the 2011 Ozark Conference title. Waynesville ensured a share with their win Wednesday evening at Glendale, a 2-1 overtime affair.

Congratulations to the Nixa Eagles, COC Large School champions for 2011. The title is Nixa's 8th, their first since 2008 following the Carthage Tiger's two-year run.

The Eagles went undefeated and unscored on during their Conference matches, outscoring their opponents 46-0.

In a game typical of this local derby, emotions ran high and it wasn't until the second half before a soccer game reared it's head. With both squads affected by injuries to key players, it would fall to strong individual efforts to create goals this evening.

The first goal came as Hunter Durham fought off a challenge for a head ball and pushed hard into the box where he was able to reach the endline and turn towards the box.

When the roof of Kaminsky Gymnasium collapsed during the tornado that struck Joplin on May 22, the Joplin High School Athletic Boosters lost tens of thousands of dollars of equipment that had been donated to the athletic department in recent years.

The 7th Annual Southwest All-Stars Games, presented by Springfield Soccer Club, will be held Thursday June 24, 2010 on the Greenwood Stadium Field at the Cooper Soccer Complex. There will be a Girls Game, in it's sixth season, along with the Boys game.

Congratulations to Coach Mike Howard of the Rolla Bulldogs on reaching 600 wins in his career Thursday. He came into the game with an 14-6 record this season, his sixteenth season as the only Coach the Rolla Lady Bulldogs have had. Mike earned his 500th victory on March 22nd, 2008 when the Tigers defeated Hickman as part of the Central Bank Classic that opens the Girls season.

Thomas Guinn, Head Coach of the Mt View Liberty Eagles girls teams the past two seasons, has been named Head Coach for the Springfield Catholic boys team.

Guinn is a graduate of Fontbonne University where he played for the D3 Griffins, winning the St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament his final two season (2003-2004).

Head Coach, Evan Palmer earned his 300th win tonight as the Nixa Eagles won 6-0 over the Parkview Vikings.

Coach Palmer, who played collegiately at Missouri State and is the only Coach the Eagles have had, began his career with Nixa in 1995 when the Boys program got it's start.

The National Federation of State High School Coaches Association has named CBC's Terry Michler as its 2010 Coach of the Year in boys soccer.

The winningest soccer coach in the nation, Michler, a CBC grad, has a career record of 826-206-98. He has guided the Cadets to seven state championships and to six runner-up finishes.
