Crespo continues to produce for Genoa with two great goals containing his classic
signature style. His two goals were critical in Genoa's 4-2 win over Siena. He seems quite hopeful
that Maradona will keep him in mind for one of Argentina's key striker positions. See all the goals
in the clip below.

Ei futbolitas, many of us may be familiar with the louco Brazilian CQC
gang (even Felipe Andreoli officially knows how much nós
adoramos!) In case you happen to be living under Fabio Capello's rock, it's a
politically-incorrect current affairs programme that stands for 'Caiga Quien
Caiga'.

After 3 giornate, only 3 clubs are still at full points: Sampdoria, who defeated Atalanta 1-0 in
Bergamo with a goal from Daniele Mannini; Juventus, who saw Lazio off with a 2-0 win thanks to
Martin Caceres and David Trezeguet; and Genoa, who thumped Napoli 4-1 with Sergio Floccari,
Giandomenico Mesto, Hernan Crespo, and Houssine Kharja all scoring their first goals of the
season.

Former Argentina skipper Sorin to retire
Former Argentina captain Juan Pablo Sorin announced his retirement from soccer at the age of 33
on Tuesday.
The left back, who led Argentina to the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, had
been plagued by injuries during his third spell with Brazilian side Cruzeiro, playing only six
matches in the last seven months.

If there is one team that is secretly thriving in a summer of high-profile transfers, it is
Birmingham City. As mentioned by my fellow Premiership Talk writer, Brian Lofrumento, the newly
promoted outfit is reportedly pursuing former Arsenal captain Patrick Viera, which is in addition
to a handful of other acquisitions made recently.

There's a fierce wind blowing through the top order of Argentine club football as the
Clausura championship draws to yet another exciting finale.
Last season's bottom placed club River Plate are now mathematically out of the title race and
the other traditional superpower Boca Juniors are a further eight points down the league.

grandissima stella in circolazione.

Holy crap man. Moving and shaking all over. I can't keep up with all the done deals and rumors and
what not. Here's a list of some of the stuff I was able to track:
- Manchester City could be closing in on Eto'o.
- Xabi Alonso has Real Madrid on his tail.
- Vietnam soccer is getting a big name in Denilson.

Man City have denied making a €150m bid to for one Lionel Messi, activating his buyout clause. A
bid which wouldn't bat a solitary eye. You know...no one's actually supposed to be able to use
those clauses. They're strictly prohibitive measures. Barcelona will supposedly raid London,
bringing Cesc back home and extraditing Ashley Cole.

Since Haka were taken over by SK-Ravintolat owner Sedu Koskinen, the town of Valkeakoski has
found that most of it's night time entertainment will contribute to the upkeep of the football
club, via the new Koski ravintolat company.
The closure of Dolly's and Angels, the town's well-loved Irish pub, to be replaced by a bar open
only on Fridays and Saturdays, has not impressed the workers at one of the few non-Koski Ravintolat
watering holes the town has left.

Zlatan the great
By Glezos Alberganti, La Settimana Sportiva
Another great performance by Zlatan Ibrahimovic granted Inter three valuable points in their
17th title quest (2-0). After struggling in the first half against a brave Lazio side, and with the
help of supersubs Hernan Crespo and Patrick Vieira, Mourinho's men came back on top with another
wonder goal by Ibra.

As far as neutral spectators go and taking the match in itself, Sunday's Inter vs. Roma had
everything you could wish for in a football encounter: tons of action, goals aplenty, and even a
dramatic come-back 10 minutes from time. In the global picture however, even neutrals secretly
wished for Roma to take this one.

I have to tell you by Sunday afternoon I was exhausted from all the football I watched beginning
Saturday morning. As planned, I took in the second half of the Everton vs. West Brom match and was
pleasantly surprised to see an entertaining half of football by an Everton side that by all
accounts looks to have a stranglehold on a UEFA Cup spot.

which has failed quite [.

Its just eleven weeks into the Serie A season and league leaders Inter Milan are already to clean
house. Jose Mourinho's side is one of eight teams within striking distance of the top spot in what
is so far one of the most competitive Scudetto races in many years.
While there has been recent talk of Argentine striker Julio Cruz wanting to leave in January, last
night Mourinho announced four players he wants to put on the auction block as well; strikers Hernan
Crespo and Ribeiro Adriano, and midfielders Luis Jimenez and Oliver Dacourt.

Here's an interesting story from Goal.com where Glasgow Celtic are rumored to be pursuing veteran
Argentinian international forward Hernan Crespo during the winter transfer window. This would be a
very exciting move for the Celtic fans and also the Scottish Premier League as Crespo has been an
international star for many years, played for many big clubs, and could provide a real lift for the
team in their matches whether they are in the Champions League or UEFA Cup come January.

Well Jose Mourinho finally got his man with the signing of Ricardo Quaresma from Porto. This is a
great move for Inter Milan as they needed some younger players to add to their aging squad, and it
also give Mourinho a chance to put his own stamp on the squad. I was beginning to wonder when Inter
were going to make a really big move.

Crikey, as we say in England. The reasons why Robinho was willing to relocate to Manchester
suddenly become clear:
The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year contract that makes him the highest-paid
footballer in the history of the game, with a weekly salary of £160,000.
For those of you not used to the quaint habit that British newspapers have of expressing
multi-million pound salaries in a working-class "weekly wage" fashion, let's put it this
way: that amounts to about $15 million a year.

Chris is much more diplomatic about it.
