Double Doob boob Former Chelsea defender Michael Duberry could see the funny side of his eventful
afternoon after Oxford emerged from their match against Hereford with a point from a 2-2 draw.
Duberry claimed to have bagged the "imperfect hat-trick" after scoring with his left foot (og),
header (og) and right foot.

Oxford United's veteran centre-back Michael Duberry was in rare old form against Hereford
yesterday afternoon, scoring the perfect hat-trick (one left, one right, one head) in his side's
2-2 draw at the Kassam.
You may have noticed that the maths doesn't quite add up there and with good reason.
To look closely at the associated regulations is to acknowledge the Football League's existing loan
system as nothing less than a free for all. ‘Temporary loan transfer' is the umbrella heading
which comprises the following three types of move permissible under the current system: •
‘Standard Loans' (half or full season in length and arranged during the two transfer windows);
• ‘Emergency Loans' (28-93 days in length and arranged both within the two transfer windows and
during fixed periods outside these dates); • ‘Youth Loans' (identical to ‘Emergency Loans'
but applies to scholars or new professionals on a work experience-type.

As a fan of a Non-League side it's very rare that I have anyone to talk to about the team I
support. I completely understand why some people will have little or nothing to say about the
Non-League but what really gets on my nerves is when I hear people writing it off as being a poor
level of football.

Eric Lichaj scored the game winner and Brad Guzan made two saves and held a clean sheet to lead
Aston Villa to a 2-0 win over League Two side Hereford in Carling Cup action at Villa Park today.
Lichaj's goal was the game winner and came in the 80th minute off a goal-mouth scramble. Guzan made

The goal-scoring bug that's been going around plenty of Americans abroad caught up with another
U.S. national team player.
Eric Lichaj scored his first goal for Aston Villa in Carling Cup second-round play on Tuesday,
netting the eventual game-winner in the 80th minute of a 2-0 victory over Hereford.
Aston Villa left it late to down division two side Hereford in the Carling Cup Second
Round tonight at Villa Park.
American defender Eric Lichaj broke the deadlock with 10 minutes left on the clock before Nathan
Delfouneso ensured the win two minutes from time with Villa's second.
Just over 21,000 saw Villa earn their place in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup the hard way
thanks to a late goal each from Eric Lichaj (80′) and Nathan Delfouneso (88′) from the
bench.
It's a game I've yet to see anything from first hand, but it sounds like we dominated the game
pretty much in the manner you'd expect over a struggling League Two side, but were frustrated by
some fine goalkeeping from 20 year old loanee, David Cornell.

Admittedly I was a bit slow to publish this...so with the added benefit of one performance,
here's the League Two preview!
Who's Looking Good?
Crawley Town: Most bookies favourites, Crawley have the biggest budget in the
league, momentum to die for, and probably the deadliest striker in the division in Matt Tubbs.
With the division in general overviewed by Ian yesterday, it's time for the annual jinx that
is the official twohundredpercent pre-season previews. We've gone about them slightly differently
this season. With the transfer window affecting some managers psychologically to the point that
they build their team by the end of the transfer window, rather than the start of the season,
predicting how it all ends up before teams have finalised their squads is tricky, especially when
you consider that Bury started last season with fifteen players with league experience, only to add
five players to their promotion winning squad before the end of August.
It's been a little quiet at Broadhall Way over the last couple of weeks. I expected a fairly
busy summer with plenty of comings and goings to keep us occupied during the close season, but it
has been the opposite really. Guy Madjo's arrival was announced early on and didn't particularly
overwhelm the supporters.
Skysports.com understands Hull are closing in on the signing of Liverpool goalkeeper Peter
Gulacsi.
Hull are in the market for goalkeeping reinforcements with Matt Duke leaving the club and Brad
Guzan returning to Aston Villa following the expiration of his loan stint.
Gulacsi admitted earlier this summer he was likely to leave Liverpool on loan and it appears Hull
is ready to take him to the KC Stadium on a season-long deal.
Today's entry in this on-running series comes from Mark Chalcraft, who can otherwise be
found at the very splendid 2nd Yellow football site. His subject is one that is
rather close to one or two of us that already write for Twohundredpercent Brighton & Hove Albion's
Goldstone Ground.
Peter Gulacsi has revealed that Liverpool are on the lookout for an experienced new goalkeeper this
summer as cover for established No.1, Pepe Reina.
The 21-year-old has made the bench on a few occasions since Kenny Dalglish returned to the Anfield
club last season but he knows that it will be an uphill struggle to displace the highly regarded
Reina, particularly if reports that Brad Jones could soon move to Merseyside are to be believed.

All the time that Pepe Reina is at Liverpool, and all being well this will be for some time yet,
few goalkeepers will get another more than a brief glimpse at the goalposts. The Spaniard is among
one of the best performers in Europe, in fact the world, so it'll take something (or someone)
special to dislodge him from his rightful place as our number one.

Three weeks ago, I reported back on Hull City's attempts to accommodate a large squad while
launching their bid for a speedy return to Premland. A lot has occurred since. While yesterday's
opponents Reading have been out shopping in Eastleigh, Hereford and Swindon, the East Riding club
have been considerably more ambitious.
Luke Daley: Is he the answer to our goalscoring problems?
There have been a lot of outgoings this January, so it was a nice change to get someone in
today. Luke Daley has joined the club on a one month "emergency" loan deal from Championship
high-flyers Norwich. I don't really understand this term of "emergency loan".

When it comes to a form of communication that celebrities and sportsmen and women use to
interact with their fans, then Twitter has become the number one method for talking to their
followers.
Twitter has become a common use by many footballers that build up a community of their own
supporters and let them know what's on their mind, and what they are feeling at any moment in the
day.
