I was surprised when I read in the morning about Scholes coming out of his retirement and rejoining United as a player. That made me wonder whether Scholes is the new Henrik Larsson that Sir Alex is trying to create to see-off an injury crisis at Old Trafford. While Martin O'Neill's appointment as Celtic manager was warmly welcomed by the club's fans in July 2000, the general consensus was that he would have a huge task on his hands to build a successful side.
