Henrik Larsson: From the King of Kings to the King of Floorball.

The Offside 21 October @ 03:30 PM EST
Henrik Larsson, the once ageless wonder who'd begun to show plenty of age, has finally decided to hang up his boots with near immediate effect. Three games remain in a rather pedestrian Helsignborgs season and three games remain in Henrik's footballing career. Unless he's summoned back for World Cup 2014 qualifying, of course. Allsvenskan Round 22 Preview

US AIK 11 September @ 12:17 PM EST
The twenty-second round of Allsvenskan is finally upon us after a two-week long break. The top two teams AIK and IFK Göteborg face tricky away games, which could open up the field for Elfsborg. But don't expect any big moves in the top of Allsvenskan as you can be sure that things will remain extremely close even after play is completed in this round. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 20 Roundup

US AIK 25 August @ 06:35 AM EST
If you take a peek at the standings in Allsvenskan after the twentieth round you could easily believe that the battle at the top was as close as ever. If you actually saw the games of the twentieth round you'd wonder what in the world happened to a couple of these top contenders. Elfsborg may only have a one point lead at the moment, but they are clearly growing into a heavy title favorite. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 20 Preview

US AIK 20 August @ 08:33 AM EST
The twentieth round of Allsvenskan gives us two very interesting matches at the top of the table. Kalmar is up against the wall as they take on league leaders AIK. The reigning champions of Kalmar will need to come up with a good result in order to remain in a strong title contender. In the other notable match-up for the top, disease-ridden and injury-laden Elfsborg takes on Örebro only three days after their match against Lazio in the Europa League. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan Round 19 Roundup

US AIK 18 August @ 10:51 AM EST
The nineteenth round saw just the expected amount of shuffling at the top and the bottom of Allsvenskan. New league leaders AIK have only scored an average of one goal per game and have had to fight extremely hard for almost every single point they've racked up so far. But an impressive display both defensive strength and team morale has brought the team to the very top. Click to continue reading...

Pre-Game: Halmstads BK vs. AIK

US AIK 14 August @ 08:55 AM EST
Monday's game against Halmstad is yet another crucial match for AIK, but one that wouldn't raise my pulse much at all if wasn't for the fact that AIK is involved in an intense title race. Halmstad is after all a pretty dull club. They show up twice a season as an opponent, but they usually fail to leave much of an impression or elicit very strong emotions. Allsvenskan Round 19 Preview

US AIK 13 August @ 08:00 AM EST
With the nineteenth round upon us we're likely to see some shuffling both in the top and the bottom of Allsvenskan. IFK Göteborg and Helsingborg will enter an extremely important head to head game that is set to jumble the top five. All top five teams seem to have an equal shot at the gold at this point and regardless of the results in this round no team should fall out of contention. Click to continue reading...

Allsvenskan roundup: Has Hysén scored goal of the year already?

Nordic Fotoball News 17 May @ 03:59 PM EST

IFK Göteborg won 2-1 against FF kalmar, thanks to a suberb goal from Tobias Hysen which was immediately hailed by some commentators as the goal of the season. It's some finish, but not quite that good, as Kalmar goalkeeper Petter Wastå will want to look at his positioning, but well-taken all the same from IFK's midfielder.

Video: Henrik Larsson inflicts torture by football

Off the Post 12 May @ 03:08 AM EST
'And now for your face...' Former Celtic and Barcelona star Henrik Larsson had always suggested that he would see out his career in Swedish football at his home town club as a thank you to a supportive public. But this video suggests that he just wanted to get a kick out of bullying his small-time compatriots. Click to continue reading...

Swedish Allsvenskan: Kalmar Defend Title With Gefle Deadlock

Soccer City FC 07 April @ 05:47 PM EST

Life in the Swedish Allsvenskan began for 2009 as Kalmar FF embarked on the focal objective of defending their title crown, despite an initial drawback as they stranded a one-goal advantage to draw with Gefle IF.

After accomplishing their first championship in 2008, Kalmer travelled northwards to the city of Gävle in pursuit of their title protection and Rasmus Elm, whose brother Victor and last season's top goalscorer Patrik Ingelsten both departed for SC Heerenveen over the winter months, ensured the season started to almost perfection by successfully converting a penalty on 29 minutes.
