The beginning of a U.S. WNT camp inevitably features the Beep Test, the USA's endurance/fitness
test that involves running back and forth between cones -- and beeps -- with the time between beeps
getting shorter as the players advance through the test. Suffice it to say, it hurts, but the U.

Fresh off a successful Olympic qualifying campaign, U.S. women's national team head coach Pia
Sundhage has called up 28 players for its upcoming friendly against New Zealand.
Nineteen of the 20 players on the Olympic qualifying roster were summoned by Sundhage for the
Americans' first game on home soil this year, including Alex Morgan, Hope Solo and Abby
Wambach.

Five games, nine days and 39 goals. That's what it took for the U.S. women's national team to
win the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying

The U.S. women's national team has been a wrecking crew during its run at CONCACAF Olympic
qualifying, but there is still one more piece of business to take care of before it can
celebrate.
With a win Friday night over Costa Rica (8 p.
The US Women did it again last night, defeating a Mexican squad that actually gave them a run
for their money. Don't let the 4-0 score fool you; the USWNT got lucky with two quick goals in the
7th and 8th minutes. That was it for the first half. Despite the strong will of Mexico, it wasn't
enough to stop the US who scored two more goals in the second half, winning Group B with all nine
points.
Carli Lloyd scores a hat trick, Heather O' Reilly chips in with another as USA easily beat
Mexico, 4-0, to secure a semi-final spot against Costa Rica in the Olympics qualifiers. This result
reversed their shocking loss to Mexico in the World Cup qualifiers which forced them into a playoff
match.

They might have been held to single digits on the scoreboard for the first time during the
CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, but the U.S. women's national team remains on a roll.
Carli Lloyd netted a hat trick, and the U.
Here are the highlights of the USA vs Dominican Republic CONCACAF Olympics match played in
Vancouver, BC. Abby Wambach and Co., made mincemeat of 88th seeded Dominican Republic. Amy
Rodriguez scored five, Heather O' Reilly poured in another three as the US Women scored a record 14
goals to nil.
They scored, they scored again...and they scored again. In the opening game of the 2012 Olympic
qualifying tournament, the United States women showed no mercy, completely showing up the Dominican
Republic. The star of the night was Amy Rodriguez who despite not coming into the game until the
second half, managed to score five goals, tying the tournament record.

The CONCACAF Olympic Women's qualifying tournament takes place later this month, and we now know
who will be representing the U.S. women's national team in it.
Head coach Pia Sundhage has named a 20-player squad for the eight-team tournament in Vancouver,
B.
The Boston Breakers have signed veteran U.S. National Team midfielder Heather O'Reilly, the club
announced today. Terms of deal were not realesed.
O'Reilly, 26, is a three year WPS verteran having last played with Sky Blue FC. She usually
features on the flank and has contributed four goals and 11 assists in her domestic career.
After one day of poor weather in Los Angeles, the usual sun has been out for U.S. WNT Training camp
and that means we were able to snap a few pics. We can report that, without a match at the end of
the camp, the U.S. WNT has been working extra hard through a battery of fitness tests, possession
drills, finishing drills and a heck of a lot of playing, whether it be 4 v 4, 6 v 6, 9 v 9 or 11 v.
Neymar played for Brazil against the U.S. MNT in 2010The Nike International Friendlies are in their ninth season and the event has seen its fair share
of quality players coming in from national teams around the world. We were looking through some of
the scores in past editions and found these highlights from 2008:
If you read the match report you'll read a name you may recognize: Neymar.
USWNT almost atoned for it's group stage blemish on Saturday..
TSG's Maura Gladys brings us home on the USWNT in 2011. Thanks for hard work,
Maura.
If she didn't prove it with her two goals and one in the 2011 World Cup, Alex Morgan proved last
night that she deserves a spot in USWNT the starting lineup.

The ten FIFA nominees for the Puskas Award 2011 ("Goal of the Year' in Layman's terms) have been
announced, and the shortlist looks something* like this...
(*It looks exactly like this)
1. Benjamin de Ceulaer, LOKEREN vs Club Brugge
2.
Kelley O'Hara seems to levitate above the jump pad. She's magical. As the U.S. team often does at the beginning of training camps, there was a battery of fitness
tests on the second day of the Arizona camp and while the players, most coming off a six-week
break, are not at optimal fitness, they aren't supposed to be.

Out with the old, in with the new? Yeah, um, not so much....
It's tough to derive meaning from last week's U.S. Women's Soccer Celebration Series in an
on-field context. With nothing at stake, and with the purpose of the two game series against Canada
clearly stated as a celebration, the squad was under no obligation other than to entertain
fans.
We were looking through ProZone's report of the USA's tie with Canada form Saturday and after
sifting through a mountain of statistics, came up with a few we thought would be of interest to
fans of the WNT Blog:
Cheney: Midfield Maestro in the Making?- Lauren Cheney made her first start in center midfield for the WNT and covered the most distance.
Abby tallies in the 10th minute from the penalty spotThe U.S. WNT played its first match since the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup last night at the
fantastic LIVESTRONG Sporting Park (the best medium-sized stadium in the country? Could be....) and
while the Americans showed some flashes of dynamic soccer, there was also some rust to be shaken
off, and probably the best part of the night was the crowd.
Today US Soccer announced the roster for the women's team when they visit KC to take on Canada on
September 17th at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The roster contains all 21 players from the USA's run
to the World Cup final this year in Germany. It'll be a nice doubleheader for those wanting to go
out on that Saturday as following the US game they'll be showing the Sporting KC vs Real Salt Lake
game.

The United States Women's National Team will play against Japan this afternoon in the 2011
Women's World Cup Final. Feel free to chat in the comments section below from now until the
Philadelphia Union-New England Revolution game tonight.
Game Time: 2:45 pm Eastern (EST), with coverage beginning at 2 pm.
Abby Wambach is feeling it!
The 1991 US team broke new ground winning the first ever World Cup and repeated the feat eight
years later. By that time Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Kristine Lilly were
household names. US women's soccer and success are so inextricably intertwined with those names
leaving each succeeding squad aspiring to reach the same heights and write their names into
history.
The 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup Final is just hours away. Game days - espcially when kickoff is
late - move pretty slowly. And this day in particular has been crawling along at a snail's pace!
Game day in the hotel generally consists of rest, meals, more rest, and a pre-game meal. Not much
to do other than get mentally prepared for the game.
The Women's World Cup Final between the United States of America and Japan will be shown live on
ESPN and ESPN3.com beginning at 2pm ET on Sunday, July 17.
The stage is set for what promises to be an extremely exciting match-up between two teams that
are playing the best soccer on the world's stage right now.

13 July 2011. Mooenchengladbach, Germany. Steady drizzle. Pitch: very good.
Three perfect touches: Lloyd's backheel down the line to Heather O'Reilly, whose cross behind the
French back line and the goalkeeper allowed Cheney to come in and deftly steer the ball inside the
far post. The finish was particularly high-quality as Cheney was nearside of the near post when she
made contact with the ball.
Team USA Defeats France 3-1; Advances to World Cup Championship
Writer Jerrod Roh will provide coverage, analysis, and opinion for the 2011 Women's World
Cup for IMSoccer News. He has attended the last 3 men's World Cups in South Korea, Germany, and
South Africa as well as the 2003 Women's World Cup in the U.
The USWNT weathered quite the storm but ended up prevailing in the end to punch their ticket
into the FIFA World Cup Final. It is magnificent to hear the words US and World Cup Final in the
same sentence. The Americans were set to play the winner of Japan/Sweden and Japan won 3-1. No
matter who the US would have faced, there would have been intrigue.
Abby Wambach's continued late game heroics have the U.S. women's national team a win away from
its third World Cup title.
The veteran U.S. forward scored for the third conseuctive game, heading home a Lauren Cheney
corner kick in the 79th minute to break a 1-1 deadlock and lead the United States to a 3-1 victory
over France in Wednesday's semifinal match.
Carli Lloyd's clever back heel has Heather O' Reilly doing what she does best -haring down the
left flank and with a sliver of space curls in a cross which Lauren Cheney arriving near post turns
into into goal. Perfect finish.
The USA got off to an early start for the second time in a row.
The eye catching Louisa Necib: Her last name in Arabic means "fate"
Team USA in a few minutes will take to the pitch facing an extremely dangerous France. Both
teams are coming off exhausting quarterfinal matches against their opponents which went to penalty
shootout. A key factor will be how well both teams rebound from those mentally and physically
challenging roller coasters.
So the pre-game meeting is done and the team is making its way onto the bus for the half hour trip
to Borussia Park. The team is focused on France, with kickoff about two hours away. So what can you
do? Well, catch up on WNT video to start!

PRE-GAME NOTES:
- Heather O'Reilly is back in the lineup for the USA, meaning they start the game the same way as
the opening match against North Korea.
Hope Solo goes up against Brazil today
In a short while, team USA plays what will be one of its most important matches - important
because the trope of the USA being a dominant force in women's soccer rides on how they perform in
this World Cup. The competition has seen Norway and Germany crash out, two traditional rivals of
the US and in their place France and Japan have been installed as rising powers.
The United States' 2-1 loss to Sweden in its final group game in the Women's World Cup is the
kind of game that makes you want to re-evaluate everything about a team. It makes you want to
re-think the lineup, the tactics, the style, the philosophy, the youth system, the type of athletes
we crank out, everything.
szólj hozzá: Sweden 2-1 United States
Abby Wambach scored her first goal in this World Cup but it was not enough to stop Sweden whose
rampaging Lotta Schelin subjected the US defense to all kinds of pressure. Amy LePeilbet had a
horror show lucky to escape with just a yellow after she brought down Schelin in the box.
