There exists no such concept of the comfortable silence when it comes to football in Edinburgh.
One week, noises out of Tynecastle note the length of time it has been since senior squad players
last saw pounds deposited into their bank accounts, and the next week these same players are
finally paid but rumours of a January firesale for them run rampant.
Football clubs and the media covering them live together as slightly estranged bedfellows,
desirous of one another's company but at times cold or distant when the other's been bad in the
sack. Quite often it is the club in some capacity turning away, demanding the media pick up the
blanket off the end of the bed and to go sleep on the couch for the night.

There exists evidence to the contrary that a man's home is his castle. To begin, seeing as how
there are so few men living in castles these days, owing to their relatively poor resale value and
faulty electrical wiring incapable of handling the wattage necessary to capture the beautiful
game in breathtaking HD, castles just aren't prime real estate these days.
Wayne Rooney's father is one of nine people who have been arrested in connection with a
match-betting scandal, according to numerous reports from the United Kingdom.
The controversy surrounds the irregularities among bookmakers in bets that a player would be
sent off in a 2010 Scottish Premier League match between Motherwell and Heart of Midlothian.

Scottish football is in crisis. With Scottish clubs exiting European competition even earlier
than usual, fans and the media are mourning the latest ‘death' of the national sport. Newspapers
and radio phone-ins are leading the now annual debate asking "where do we go from here?
Spurs' Michael Dawson takes his shirt off to celebrate his side's 5-0 win over the SPL's Heart of

As you know, we can't be bothered to write stuff about the Europa League until someone actually
wins it.
The phrase "European competition" had a somewhat redundant feel to it this evening, after
Tottenham Hotpur cruised to a comfortable win against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle in a match
that felt at times like a training match for the visitors from the Premier League. It was a match
that might, under a certain light, have had the feel of a possible surprise on the cards.

On a day when a host of Americans Abroad had first-leg games in the playoff round of the UEFA
Europa League, Clint Dempsey had the best performance with a 90-minute outing in which he bagged a
brace.
Dempsey scored the last two goals in Fulham's 3-0 victory against Dnipro, likely assuring the
Cottagers' passage to the next round.
THFC1882 is pleased to welcome back guest writer Gareth Johnson for his thoughts on our upcoming
Europa League game against Heart of Midlothians on Thursday.
As Luka Modric took to the pitch in our pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao, he was
perhaps a little surprised at the rapturous applause that broke out around the ground after his
summer of discontent.
The only managerial soap opera that was to have transpired in Edinburgh this summer was to
have been at Easter Road involving the love triangle between Hibernian FC, Colin Calderwood, and
Nottingham Forest. Then again, when "Mad Vlad" Romanov blows into town to see about things over at
Tynecastle, general upheaval can never be too far out of the reckoning.

This morning was the draw for the qualifying round of the Europa Cup. A two legged affair,
that if we win, we go forward into the the group stages of the competition.
This time last year we were all excited about who we would be drawn against in the Champion
League qualifying round but this competition is a real chance for glory.

Here's a few players plying their trade in Scottish football who, for one reason or another, are
worth keeping an eye out for this season:

The passing of Dennis Marshall didn't only affect Costa Rican players. It also affected
Marshall's teammates at Aalborg BK, and one American paid tribute to the late defender this
weekend.
Chris Rolfe honored his former teammate with the game-winning goal in Aalborg's home-opener, a
2-1 win versus AGF Aarhus.

DaMarcus Beasley signed with Puebla earlier this summer in the hopes of reviving his club
career, and that challenge begins for him this weekend.
Puebla opens its Apertura campaign on Saturday against Atlas, and Beasley will hope to make his
first start for the club.
In the not too dim and distant past I used to work for a health charity in Midlothian.
I'll admit I wasn't straight from central casting. The only way I become a poster boy for health
and fitness is if you need someone to pose for the "before" section of your "before and after"
pictures.
I'm not one of life's joggers, teetotallers or carrot chompers.
Often, when bold remarks from an organization become public, they answer more questions than
they raise. When a statement comes across as the one released by Scottish Premier League club Heart
of Midlothian over the weekend, including references to blackmail, the mafia, and paedophiles, one
must query not only just what exactly that statement is speaking to but also the wisdom of
presenting such an announcement as an official club statement.

Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian FC has followed the release of its 11/12 away
strip with the launch of its Umbro 2011/12 home kit. According to jersey provider Umbro, the new
Hearts shirt features a classic look in the Hearts' traditional dark maroon with a clean white
hooped crew neck collar and white cuffs.
It is the end, then, of another long, hard season, and perhaps now is an appropriate time to be
looking at how those clubs that are owned and run by their supporters trusts this season managed to
fair. As AFC Wimbledon paraded the trophy that confirmed their accession into the Football League
nine years after their formation, the words of the FA's committee, that a new club in the borough
would be, "not in the wider interests of football", have never sounded more hollow.
Just Football: SPL 2010-11 Team of the Season is a post from: Just Football

With the Scottish Premier League 2010-11 season now over, it's time to have a
look back at the players who have made their mark during the campaign. When selecting a team of the
year it's hard to avoid Celtic and Rangers, but thankfully there are those from outside the big two
who have done enough to earn their place.
Heart of Midlothian FC (most commonly referred to as Hearts FC) is a soccer club from Edinburgh,
Scotland currently campaigning in the Scottish Premier League. Hearts is one of the two principal
clubs in the city along Hibernian. Hearts have won the League title four times, the Scottish Cup on
seven occasions, and the Scottish League [.

Gale Agbossoumonde may not be an automatic starter for Djurgardens IF, but he continued to
cement his place in the team on Wednesday.
In Djurgardens' third round Svenska Cupen match against IFK Lulea, Agbossoumonde started and
played 90 minutes as his club won, 2-1.
The attack on Glasgow Celtic coach Neil Lennon by an opposing supporter in Wednesday's Scottish
Premier League match against Heart of Midlothian is the latest in a string of unsavoury incidents
that have been directed at the former Northern Ireland international player. Surely now is the time
for such ugly personal attacks on Lennon to stop.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon had a lucky escape as a Heart of Midlothian fan tried to attack the Hoops
gaffer during the Hearts vs Celtic Scottish Premier League game on May 11, 2011. Lennon was
attacked by the Hearts fan shortly after Celtic had got their second goal in the game against the
Jambos. Fortunately [.

the Old Firm.
