Earlier this summer, the football world was shocked by the tragic death of Espanyol captain Dani
Jarque, dead of a heart attack at the age of 26 years.
And now, Antonio De Negris, a striker for Greek team Larissa, and a former Mexixcan
international who was capped 16 times is dead at 31 years of age of a suspected heart attack.
When you think of a professional footballer's mode of transportation to a match, you probably
conjure images of pimped-out limousines with built-in hot tubs, strippers and maybe even a personal
pizza chef.
Well, for footballers in the United States (who aren't Davey Becks) it's not like that.
Another international has shockingly been lost. Former MLS target Antonio De Nigris, who was
playing with Greek side Larissa, has died of a heart attack at the age of 31.This is hitting the El
Tri community hard, as you might imagine. NSC condolences go out to his family, friends, teammates
and fans. Click to continue reading...
I just saw a news report on Goal.com saying that Mexican striker Antonio DeNigris has died on a
heart attack yesterday. He was 31. He had played in Turkey and Greece in recent years (his last
club was Larissa). Sixteen caps for the Mexican national team. More later. Wow. RIP. Click to continue reading...
I just read this bit in the Boston Herald about how our Taylor and his brother (who knew there were
two of 'em?) where in this crazy near-death experience in Chicago this week; the driver of a cab
they were in had a heart attack as they approached an intersection and hit a wall. And just to make
it all weirdski's, this isn't the first time the Twellman Brothers --which sounds like a C&W band--
have been in a crash & bang situation. Click to continue reading...
Hello. I am Carlo Ancelotti manager of Chelsea and amateur pharmacist. Perhaps you read
yesterday about my cure for this swine flu business, which was handed down to me by my grandmother
(warm milk and red wine). Fantastic. Well, in order to help with any other problems you have, here
are some more of my non-medical cures that will keep you healthy and alive until the day you
die.
In a game that appears to bear the hallmark of our 'The Entertainers' period, with breathtaking
attack and heart-attack inducing defending, England U21s nonetheless came out victors with
Newcastle's Andy Carroll playing a starring role in a 6-3 win. The game was played at Coventry's
Ricoh Arena and a reasonable crowd of 20,000+ turned out to [. Click to continue reading...
This is an old video but I thought it was a good one to post. Going down the middle on a PK to
me, a chip none the less, seems like such a gamble. Plus it gives your coach a heart attack!Â
Just stick it in the corner!!
This is what happens when you get it wrong... almost 4 million hits on youtube!
I was a little concerned coming into the last fixture. It wasn't because Burnley has already
beaten United and Everton. It wasn't because Burnley aren't afraid to attack. I saw these things as
healthy signs for Liverpool. Â Liverpool usually do well against attacking sides.
Starting this Sunday, NFL teams will begin their grueling five month battle to see who will
win the Lombardi Trophy, which got us here at STO thinking...Â
Out of all the legendary coaches to ever coach an NFL game, John Madden and Mike Ditka have to
be considered two legends at the top of the list.
I do not reccomend doing this style of PK in a game because you might give your coach a heart
attack! But it is pretty cool!
My old youth coach use to say, "If you try something fancy and it works you will be applauded
but if you try something and make a mistake be prepared to handle the criticism!
Mexican legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco once again proved to be the difference for his side, scoring
the only goal on a penalty in Mexico's 1-0 win over Honduras last night. Minutes after scoring, the
36-year-old, who retired from international play a year ago today, only to be coaxed back to a
struggling Mexican team back in April, Blanco passed out on the pitch and had to be taken off on a
stretcher.
To start this post of crazy stories, click on the picture of a crazy soccer table UF saw on
ESPN. First off, Dirty Tackle has this horribly sad story of Czech player Michal Jezek, who netted an own
goal then died of a heart attack. He was married with a 6-month-old daughter. The next story takes us to Germany where a Schalke midfielder Albert Streit was spit at by fans and
his coach sided with the supporters. Click to continue reading...
If there is any team in La Liga that deserves a good finish to the season it is likely Espanol.Â
The club has gone through a horrific last few months that puts frustrating season's on the pitch
into perspective. While training for the La Liga season captain Dani Jarque died on the pitch of
a heart attack in a preseason practice.
Kakha Kaladze's pair of own goals against Italy on Saturday may have seemed horrible at the
time, but the truly tragic fate suffered by 31-year-old Czech regional league defender Michal Jezek
on the same day should put things in perspective. Reports the AFP:
Nine minutes into the game between two villages northwest of Prague, defender Michal Jezek
slammed the ball into his own net, then "collapsed on the pitch," CTK [news agency] quoted another
player as saying.

No lie, right now I feel like one of those monkey's chained to Mr. Burns'typewriter tasked to write

What do we want from a ninety minute bout of football devotion? A win, obviously. Maximum points
from a league fixture. Advancement from a draw. But beyond that we want a strong performance. We
want reassurances for the future. Points and advancement get us closer to the goal, but a pure
display of great football gives us so much more.
Since I haven't posted here for a few days, I figure by now that the faithful mavens of BigSoccer
can be separated into three basic groups: a) Guys who have been up most of the night pacing the floor and saying "Why? Why? WHY hasn't Archer
posted to the blog?" and generally suffering the same symptoms as someone in a crack rehabilitation

Some notes and conclusions: • Not a single draw in the opening round of fixtures! That hasn't happened in the top flight
since 1980, stat fans. So Sunderland, in 10th place, have opened up a handy three-point gap on...
everyone below them. • All five London-based clubs won! Click to continue reading...
A touching moment during the Everton match as Cesc Fabregas holds up a jersey bearing Daniel
Jarque's number after scoring his second goal. The Espanyol skipper died tragically of a sudden
heart attack a week ago at the age of 26 plunging Spain into a pall of gloom.
Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera has dedicated his international strike for Spain this week to the
memory of the late Espanyol player Daniel Jarque. Jarque, a former team-mate of Riera's at the Catalan outfit, passed away unexpectedly after
suffering a heart attack after a training session. Click to continue reading...

An amusing commentary on why athletes score all the hot babes. Speaking of hot babes, here's
Sylvie van der Vaart at the Germany's Got Talent launch. She says once she's done with chemo she
hopes she can have another baby with Rafa in the future. Well, well. Who knew Edwin van der Sar had all this going on under that jersey?

yesterday I said that the Valencia game will help Wenger decide where he needs to get new
players in. The game ended in a 2-0 loss and as I didn't watch the match and have not as yet seen
any highlights, it is quite hard for me to comment on the game so I will leave that to the other
blogs around.
Before i begin my update i would like to offer my deepest sympathies to the family, friends and
team-mates of Espanyol club captain Daniel Jarque who died after he suffered a heart attack
following a training session yesterday. My thoughts are with them at this sad time. Moving onto the title of this update only a couple of weeks ago hardly any Real Sociedad supporters
would have heard of Antoine Griezmann since he was in the youth set up and yet to even make the
step up to Sanse however with 4 goals in 2 pre-season friendlies he is the talk of San Sebastian. Click to continue reading...
FC Barcelona took the field Saturday night in San Francisco, CA with black armbands in honor of
Espanyol captain Daniel Jarque. It was obvious that the shocking news of the players death in Italy
due to a heart attack had a dramatic effect on the players as they took the pitch.
When it comes to footballers, the last thing we have in mind is them dieing of a heart attack.
Unfortunately this is what caused Dani Jarque's death. Espanyol's captain and defender was in Italy
for pre-season and was found unconscious in his room. He was only 26, and even though doctors tried
to bring him back all efforts did not work.
Espanyol have confirmed the very sad news that their captain Daniel Jarque has passed away at the
age of 26. Jarque, who was pronounced captain of the side just a month ago, died while on the phone
to a relative in the early evening of Saturday 8th August. Reports suggest that Jarque suffered a
heart attack [. Click to continue reading...

Goalkeepers are an unfashionable lot. Take a wander around your local park, find the nearest
youthful game of football being hastily organised and see how many kids are actively volunteering
to go in goal. Unless you live near some kind of FA approved goalkeepers academy (this must exist,
surely), you wouldn't find that many. Click to continue reading...
Well the great news that has come out of Carlo Ancelotti's first Official Press Conference is the
news that he wants John Terry to stay and remain Chelsea Captain forever!. He did however nearly
give me a heart attack when he said "I am not sure if John Terry will be captain next season!". The
press room gasped after he said this but he then said "I am joking! Click to continue reading...
