Easy schedule or not, there's no stopping the Akron Zips. While their conference schedule in Mid-American play is regarded as fairly light, Wednesday's match against Penn State was a chance at answering those critics, as the Nittany Lions came in ranked 16th in this week's RPI.

Huddersfield 0 – 0 Stockport County – Match Report

Welcome To Stockportinsider The Interactive Stockport County Blog 28 September @ 02:03 AM EST

County gained a good away point from their weekend trip to the Galpharm Stadium.

Manager Gary Ablett kept faith with the starting 11 which beat Leyton Orient 2-1 the previous week, although there was 1 change on the bench where Adam Griffin replaced the injured Adam Griffin.

The Hatters started the game brightly and in a game where chances were hard to come by, could have taken the lead as early as the 48th second, when on-loan defender Paul Huntington played a perfect pass through to Nicholas Bignall, the strikers controlling touch set up the chance, but he failed to work the Huddersfield 'keeper.

USF's Chantelle Goodson scored her first goal of the season on a long range shot in the thirty-sixth minute that glanced off the crossbar and into the goal. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal v. Chelsea preview

7am Kickoff 09 May @ 09:50 AM EST

Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge back in November, a win which kicked off Arsenal's 21 match unbeaten run. Some folks say Arsenal were given a bit of good fortune as Robin van Persie's first goal was widely seen as offside, but sometimes good luck is exactly what a team needs to kick off a winning run.

League Two Ups and Downs

soccerword.com 03 May @ 09:34 AM EST

League Two
Brentford have won League Two, and will be joined in League One next year by Exeter, Wycombe, and the playoff winner. Luton Town finish bottom of the league, primarily due to the hard 30 point penalty they received before the season began. Without the point deduction, Luton would have finished comfortably in 15th.

Luton Town FC RIP

And so, on April 13th, Luton were finally consigned to step five football for the 2009/2010 season.

We were all expecting it of course. Only a miracle could have saved the Hatters this season, something which ex-newsreader come chairman Nick Owen happily pointed out on Sky News this morning.

Luton Town's Epic Struggle

soccerword.com 17 August @ 07:54 AM EST

Football is here again, and the beginning of the season is always a time of hope as clubs start over with a clean slate. At least, that's usually how it works. But not in League Two. Not this year. Because of point deductions, Luton Town begin the 2008-09 campaign on -30 points. That's minus 30. Just a few years ago Luton Town was in the top half of the Championship League, England's second division, with the Premiership nearly in sight.

One of the stories attracting most attention from fans this month on footballeconomy.com has been the 30 points deduction imposed on Luton Town by the Football League. The club faces likely relegation to the Blue Square Conference and possible extinction: they would probably have to get 80 points next season to survive, as many as Rochdale got to reach the play offs.
