Real Madrid came from behind to beat Levante 4-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu to move 10 points
clear at the top of the La Liga standings last night. A hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo and a
Karim Benzema goal cancelled out goals from Gustavo Gabriel Cabral and Arouna Kone.
Despite the win, hat-trick hero Ronaldo is calling for calm in the team camp saying that the
league is not a done deal.
Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie was the hero (yet again) as his brace gave the Gunners a crucial
2-1 win at Norwich their fifth successive Premier League win. To say that the prolific Dutchman is
in a rich vein of form would be an understatement of biblical proportions. 13 league goals in 12
matches, [.
The First Round Proper of the FA Cup came and went with some criticism of the quality
offered by the mainstream media of the non-league game. Mike Bayly was unsatisfied with the cliche
and factual inaccuracy that the press offered in attempting to get to grips with the
semi-professional game.
Coverage of non-league teams in the season's FA Cup qualifying rounds may have broken
new boundaries, but where the FA Cup First Round is concerned, old habits die hard.
What were Stoke City fans thinking last night, when they booed Demba Ba? Newcastle hat-trick hero
- Demba Ba It wasn't Ba's fault that Stoke City didn't sign him in January, because he failed
the Stoke medical, and he was very willing to join Stoke at the time. But maybe it's because he
scored his second hat-trick of the season for Newcastle last night at the [.

Either way, history is going to made in Seattle Tuesday night.
Should the host Seattle Sounders defeat the Chicago Fire in the U.S. Open Cup final (10 p.m.,
Fox Soccer Channel), then they'll put the finishing touches on a three-peat, something that has
never been done in the Major League Soccer era and hasn't been accomplished since Greek American AA
did so in 1967-1969.
After their impressive 2-2 midweek show against Barcelona, Milan fell to a 3-1
defeat in the hands of Napoli last night. And the man of the moment? Hat-trick hero Edison
Cavani, of course! Move aside Suarez, there's a new
Uruguayan star in town!

Bolton Wanderers 0-5 Manchester United Premier League September 10 2011
The Red Devils continued where they left off against Arsenal, this time banging in five goals
against a rather forlorn looking Bolton side. Despite losing Tom Cleverley early on, courtesy of a
good old-fashioned, firm but fair, British challenge (ie a thuggish assault) by Trotters captain
Kevin Davies, United demolished Owen Coyle's flimsy side.
The 17 September 1997. The day Newcastle United embarked on their first Champions League
campaign. La Liga runners-up Barcelona provided the opposition, boasting names such as Rivaldo,
Luis Figo and Luis Enrique.
Newcastle were going into the unknown. After finishing runners-up in the Premier League to
Manchester United the previous season Kenny Dalglish's side deserved their chance with Europe's
elite.

either on their way home or drowning their sorrows in a Bavarian Beer Hall, getting ready to watch
this weekend's exciting matches.

As we woke from another long weekend and blindly reached for our laptops in the hope of finding
out what the hell happened during our 'downtime', we learned that our first duty this morning
should involve congratulating Swansea City.
Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers are certainly not strangers to the Premiership, but they
have been an eternity in the wilderness as far as their fans will be concerned. They both have very
famous top flight games which are associated with the club with QPR turning over Manchester United
in a New Years Day game back in 1992, and Norwich defeating Bayern Munich in Europe in 1993.

There's no room for sentiment in football. Dalglish, the cold-eyed realist, left Liverpool's £35m
Geordie on the bench against his old side, keeping faith with the surprise hat-trick hero.

Can you change a team that won its last game 5-0?
Shrewsbury 1-0 Stevenage (Wroe 38)
Highlights | BBC Report
Not good. Five games it is now without a win and it's a run that looks like it has a while to
go yet before it gets better. A solitary goal from Nicky Wroe was enough to give the Shrews the
victory today. Boro didn't play well, but did create some chances late on as they pushed for a
point.

~We're going to the Wembley~

home advantage in the second leg as they look to get to the Wembley final.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger says January's heavy fixture list has left him with "no
choice" but to rotate his squad following the 3-0 win over Wigan.
