Ultimate 11’s – Fulham FC

OK Football Finder 26 October @ 01:00 AM EST

This week's Ultimate 11's is top blogger Michael Summervilles' beloved Fulham FC. For those of you who are old to remember Fulham had a great side in the 70's with the likes of George Best, Rodney Marsh & Bobby Moore.

At times Fulham were like the Harlem Globetrotters, and here's some proof.

Ancelotti Wants To Meet Madrid

Futbolita 12 September @ 01:20 AM EST

via Reuters

Carlo Ancelotti is afraid of meeting Barca for obvious reasons. He'd rather have his Chelski take on Madrid who're not a "team" yet. In other words, he thinks he's assembled the second generation of Harlem Globetrotters.

"At this time, I prefer to meet Real Madrid.

Miron 'not confident', Smeltz scores two, Mitchell not daunted to face GCU

Home - Football Perth Blog - Perth Glory News 09 September @ 10:13 PM EST
GOLD Coast United owner Clive Palmer once referred to his team as the 'Harlem Globetrotters' of the A-League.
Apparently, in his humble opinion, the Gold Coast would go around to all the other clubs and boost their attendances and make them money.
With that in mind, it seems a bit weird that the arrival of 'the New Bling' has been met with almost no hype at all here in Perth. Click to continue reading...

The Most Famous Crest in American Football/Soccer History Is Now a Sideshow

Major League Soccer Talk 29 August @ 03:30 AM EST

Take a good look at that crest ladies and gentleman. We all remember it fondly as this was the most famous name in all of football during the era of the North American Soccer League (NASL). We remember the movie about the history of the New York Cosmos and how popular they were once famed Brazilian International Striker Pele came to these shores and created a major buzz over in Downing Stadium at Randalls Island (Which was torn down and rebuilt as Icahn Stadium), Hofstra University, the first Yankee Stadium and finally calling Giants Stadium home at the Meadowlands in the late 70's thru the mid 80's.

The Kyle y Javi Show: All Star Game Edition

The Offside Rules 30 July @ 01:00 PM EST
After what seemed like an eternity, The Kyle y Javi Show has returned, and this time with a special guest...the Harlem Globetrotters! I'm just kidding. They were too busy shooting a Scooby Doo reunion show to make it so they had to get someone else.
The RSL duo managed to get their hands on The Don for a few minutes of broken English, sputtering Spanish and matching white polos. Click to continue reading...

Plenty to discuss in the soccer world, some big news, some not so big, so let's get to some of the nuggets that have emerged today:

---------------

On the same day it struck a deal to secure La Liga rights, ESPN also lands the UK rights to broadcast EPL matches.

Calcio, Sergio Campana contrario alla scissione in Lega: "Speriamo che la frattura si ricomponga"

CitySport...un Mondo nuovo... 04 May @ 12:56 PM EST

U.S. YNT Blog 24 April @ 11:52 AM EST
Sorry to those with Triskaidekaphobia, the U.S. has made it a lucky 13 trips to the U-17 World Cup... well, we suppose they will make it 13. Here are 13 other great things associated with the number 13:
  1. There are 13 players in a rugby league team.
  2. Kristine Lilly, who made more international appearances than any other player in the sport's history, wore #13 for the USA women's team (maybe you've heard of her)
  3. The number of colonies that formed the United States.

Shopping List

Sniffing The Touchline 05 September @ 03:15 AM EST

If press reports are to be believed, we could be on the brink of a new era in football spending that will make Abramovich's Chelsea look positively frugal. I am of course referring to the takeover of Manchester City on Monday by an Arab consortium estimated to be worth around £650billion.

Earthquakes 4, Revolution 0: A Supporter's View

Soccer By Ives 19 August @ 01:00 PM EST

You wouldn't know that New England has spent most of the season as the class of the league and San Jose has spent most of the year as the worst team in the league based on their meeting on Saturday. The revamped Earthquakes thrashed a short-handed Revs side 4-0 to serve notice that their drive for a playoff spot isn't an exercise in futility.

Persik and Pelita Jaya

Jakarta Casual 04 August @ 04:34 AM EST
Though this game was played Wednesday night this is the first chance I've had to write anything about it.
As ever with a Persik game you're left holding your breath. A side short of quality such as Legimin, Danilo and Fagundez was good enough to beat most teams in the ISL, especially with Budi Sudarsono, for me the most technically gifted Indonesian player at the moment, in such sincilating form. It's Showtime! Harlem Globetrotters Hit the Target

Touchlinde Dad 17 May @ 03:35 AM EST
THE Harlem Globetrotters are surely the greatest entertainers in world sport - alongside snooker trickshot king John Virgo and that table tennis guy with mirrors and combs concealed in his bat. I'm being ironic about the last two. This Saturday morning is all about slam dunks, flip shots and dribbling in our house after Jack's visit with his cousins Alice and Michael to the Globetrotters at the Manchester Evening News Arena last night.
