Happy Birthday Paul Scholes

The Offside: Manchester United 16 November @ 11:22 AM EST

A Very happy 35th Birthday to Paul Scholes

While he looks like funnyman Simon Pegg, Scholes has been anything but a joke to United's opponents. With ridiculous passing that tears through defenses all the while making it look simple, a niche for shooting long range rockets into the back of the net, and a surly temper (75 bookings in the EPL, 24 in UEFA CL play), Paul Scholes has wrecked havoc on any pitch he steps on.

Team news + AGM

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 22 October @ 02:27 PM EST

First of all, a big happy birthday to Arsene Wenger who has reached the big 6-0. I hope he enjoys his glass of red tonight.

There is some team news ahead of our game on Sunday, Fabianski and Nasri made good comebacks the other night in the reserves but Sunday comes too early for them, Denilson should be back in four weeks and Djourou is out until March at least.

Happy Xmas

LadyArse - Arsenal and the world of football from a woman's perspective @ OleOl 22 October @ 08:27 AM EST

I wasn't going to do a blog today, I am in stinking form which I know is the height of bad manners on this, the birthday of Arsenal's saviour. I'd go into why I'm in bad form but then that would probably just make my mood worse, so let's crack on and see where this ends up. If you're feeling suicidal in anyway, I'd suggest reading something else.

“It Ain’t No Sin To Be Glad You’re Alive…”

Booked for Dissent 23 September @ 10:36 AM EST

Think about those words for a second. Putting aside the grammatically incorrect double negative, it's a remarkable concept. Compare it with with Woody Allen, who, in Annie Hall, said that life was "full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly."

Better still, compare it with Thoreau, who wrote that "the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.

Islanders strike first! But fall 3-1 to Saprissa…

Puerto Rico Islanders soccer blog - Puerto Rico Islanders FC 26 August @ 04:45 AM EST

Last night on the 26th minute Islanders' Domenic Mediate scored a 'golazo' that silenced shocked the crowd, as well as many of his critics, as the Islanders took a 1-0 lead at Ricardo Saprissa stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica.

But that lead was not to last, as Saprissa came back 9 minutes later on a goal by birthday boy Armando Alonso (26 years old, happy birthday!

More on the Tony New Mexico Situation

Ginge Talks The Footy 22 August @ 04:39 PM EST
Steven Cohen contacted me via e-mail yesterday afternoon and requested I post the entire e-mail chain between he and Tony that included the comment about his wife's birthday. I'm going to post it, per Steven's request, because however you feel about Cohen and even if you don't feel he deserves it, everyone should be able defend themselves and tell their side of the story. Birthday Wishes From Steven Cohen

Center Holds It 20 August @ 05:24 PM EST
(This is a long one, gang. Say I warned you not, do not.)
A few weeks ago, I said that Steven Cohen's claims of intimidation were completely frivolous and fanciful. I said he was only making those claims in order to engender sympathy from the misinformed and/or gullible. I said if there really were this kind of threats, anything resembling this kind of horrible behavior, it would be a matter for law enforcement. Click to continue reading...

Three points for birthday boy Bok

Jakarta Casual 02 August @ 09:42 AM EST
Showdown Sunday alright and Richard's Bok SAF can look back on a job well done, collecting a crucial three points in a feisty affair at Tampines Stadium.
And yet it could have been so different had Aliff been able to convert Noh Alam Shah's cross while the score was still scoreless. But Tampines were made to pay for that miss and also a night when their delivery into the box was too poor too often. Click to continue reading...

Caught Offside 01 August @ 07:24 AM EST

It's all my fault!

[cheesy intro] My name's Andy and I support Liverpool.

This is short and sweet but I thought I'd share it with you all.

It all started when I had a call from a mobile number I didn't recognise about an hour ago from a very friendly chap who identified himself as Alan Brown from Liverpool Football Club.

Breakers Lose … BUT the SUN is OUT!

JordanCornblog 05 July @ 05:49 AM EST

Yes, the sunis actually out and mot a cloud to be seen. HOORAY!

And yes, the Breakers lost 1-0 to FC Sky Blue yesterday on the strength of a Heather O'Reilly corner kick that bent into the Breakers' net in the 6th minute. Sounds like there were other good chances for both teams, but that early score held through the end of the match.
