Guido Erhard tried to write a book. The working title, he said, was: "Truth Be Told - A Life on the Brink". He said the book would "give other people hope and courage". He didn't say it was also a way of coming to grips with his own demons, but he didn't have to.
"Truth Be Told" was never published, because on a cold, dark and snowy Thursday in February 2002, Erhard hurled himself in front of an incoming high-speed train at Offenbach main station. Click to continue reading...

It's starting to get interesting in the Bundesliga. With the weekend being eclipsed by a thrilling 3-3 draw. Schalke needed a last gasp goal from Kevin Kuranyi to make the game even stevens after Hamburg had led, 2-0, 2-1 then 3-2. Markus Berg and Kevin Kuranyi scored two goals each with Lucas Schmitz and Piotr Trochowski both on target in a 3-3 draw which had everything, including a red card for Hamburg's David Rozehnal.

Hamburg fight the police for their right to celebrate victory over Celtic

Off the Post 23 October @ 04:36 AM EST
That's not how we celebrate in this country! Players and staff from Hamburg were involved in an angry confrontation after their win at Celtic last night when stewards attempted to cut short their celebrations. There is a bit of a chicken-and-egg debate about whether Hamburg were sitting down as part of a new German post-match [. Click to continue reading...

The above picture depicts what Reuters describes as a "sit-down protest" from Hamburg after stewards at Celtic Park would not let them celebrate their 1-0 win over the Scottish side with their traveling fans after the game. Tempers flared among the visiting team when stewards also wouldn't let them leave the pitch, causing some angry players to sit down near the corner flag as police moved in.

Mark van Bommel signed a one year extension on his Bayern Munich contract last season. He had asked for two years. Sturmproblem Teil 2 – dieses Mal in Hamburg

Bundesliga Blog 20 October @ 11:27 AM EST

We want his kind at The Lane

THBN - Tottenham Hotspur Blog News 20 October @ 01:58 AM EST
The Sun reported that Harry's interested in signing Club Brugge defender Vadis Odjidja. The red-top's article wasn't too enlightening either. Apparently, we're lining up a £5 million bid for him.
The Sun got it wrong in saying that he's a defender. Odjidja is a defensive midfielder. Whenever I've seen him play, he's deployed just in front of the back four and he's fairly adequate at getting stuck into the oppositions face and break up play. Click to continue reading...

Bundesliga Review

Inthestands.co.uk - Football Banter For the Masses - Football Blog 07 October @ 10:35 AM EST

Bayern seem to have crashed and burned in the last two week, picking up only one point out of 6.

After loosing to Hamburg last week Bayern could only muster a 0-0 draw against league strugglers Colonge. As a result they dropped to 8th in the table and are now 8 points behind join league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg, who both added to their points tally this weekend (they now both have 20 points from 8 games)

Bayer Leverkusen thumped relegation candidates Nurberg 4-0, with goals from Toni Kroos, Simon Rolfes, Eren Derdiyo and the in form Stefan Kießling.
