So, one point from a game where it won't really do much to help us. In reality though, we could
have come away with all three points had we managed to score one more of our chances, or had Saja
not made a terrible mistake that the goalkeeper on my own amateur team would likely avoid.
Well, AEKBaltimore will watch the match on TV soon, since I believe he recorded it, and I'm not
sure if AEKMAN74 watched as well.

Have you heard the one about the hippopotamus and the wolf? Stoke City mascot Pottermus ruthlessly
sabotaged Wolves' chance in the half-time crossbar challenge when the two clubs met last weekend.
With the Wolves mascot preparing for their kick, the cheeky hippo sneaked up behind to deliver a
rugby tackle.

It was a hard ending to swallow for FC Barcelona as they battled Osasuna to a scoreless draw
late into the second half of the match. Early in the first half the Barcelona defense looked a
little off as they were not clearing the ball out of the back field and giving the Osasuna offense
too much space to move the ball around.

Hull club officials had plenty of patience with boss Phil Brown over the last
year or so, even though the Tigers kept underachieving, but they have finally decided to sack him
if the team remain in the relegation zone after the next two rounds. Those of you who were
insightful enough to place a bet on Brown to win the Premiership sack race are
probably in for a nice betting bonus, while those of you thinking about doing that now should know
the betting is suspended.

Football fans have become better educated in the mysteries of football finances over recent
years out of necessity as much as anything else, but just occasionally old naiveties come to the
fore. It might just be that they can't believe that things could be as bad off the pitch as on it
at the moment, but Hull City fans are less concerned than they should be about the lack of
financial information coming out of their club in recent times, and now that the information has
come out and has proved as grim as one may have feared, they still don't sem to believe that things
can be as bad off the pitch as on it; despite the phrase "significant doubt over their ability to
continue as a going concern" appearing not once, but three times in a relatively short annual
report and statement of accounts for the Tigers' promotion year.

My normal pre-match bravado wasn't at full strength after the four-game losing streak
(Liverpool's worst run since the Spring of 1987) and going into the fixture against Manchester
United Sunday I was a sleepless bag of frenetic nerves.
We tend to play our best against the strongest opposition (I thought our outing against Chelsea
was one of our best performances of the season except for of course the two moments that led to
their two goals) and Fernando Torres was on the starting team sheet.

If you enjoy those 15 half-time minutes when the subs come trotting out and half-heartedly ping
the ball around, you'll love tonight. Pav, Bentley, Hutton and Bale are all in line to start, as
‘Arry rings the changes with half an eye (in a manner of speaking) on Saturday's game.

The Wizards ended the 2009 season without a playoff berth, but they went out by helping to kill DC
United's season. Along with other results around the league, KC's 2-2 draw with DC last night
eliminated DC from making the playoffs as well. A late penalty kick by Claudio Lopez proving to be
the tying goal.

Despite a woeful recent record away from home, you might have expected Allardyce's Blackburn to
have put up more of a fight against Chelsea yesterday. But this was a masterclass performance from
the Ancelotti's men who unleashed a second half blue-coloured blitzkrieg to put five past a hapless
Blackburn Rovers.

This is torture. The only positive I can dredge up right now is that TFC is getting shots. I guess
the half time pep talk is simple. If Red Bulls can score 2 in a half, Toronto can score 3.

Chris at an excellent half-time ceremony, midway through a critical game that eventually saw the
Fire reach the MLS playoffs after a 1-0 win over Chivas USA.

Ligue 1 continues to delight and mystify in equal measures. Last weekend's matches saw Bordeaux
lose for a second successive match after such a long unbeaten run, and new leaders Lyon lost too
but remained on top of the table.
Lyon's lead is down to just a single goal, never mind points. Their main challenger in second spot
is Montpellier, a team that finds itself back in the top flight for the first time in five years
and looking determined to make it six.

And so, once again, it was a case of Tim Cahill to the rescue.
The Socceroo performance wasn't quite as bad as their last outing against Oman, but there were long
periods of the game where Australia were dreadfully uninspired. And, let us remember, Oman were
denied what looked like a plain penalty a few minutes from the close.

SO it's been a couple of days since Perth's win over Adelaide and as a result of some other
scorelines in the other games this weekend, the Glory find themselves in third place on the
ladder.
They are now unbeaten in their last 5 games (three wins and two draws).
Most of the pundits reckon the Glory were lucky to get the 1-0 victory over the Reds, and for the
most part they'd be right - though the Glory had a number of chances, particularly in the
first-half.

Before the season started, as we pondered the state of our defence, I said that I reckoned we
would have to score more than we conceded, and if we managed to do that I'd be happy enough.
A crazy first half against Blackburn saw us go behind twice (to their only two opportunities - a
long ball (good to see Sam not playing like Bolton like he said pre-match) and a defelcted shot
that Mannone had covered.

All through this season, United have scored a total of 3 goals in the first half of their
matches. It's ok to take some time to settle into the game, but 45 minutes in a 90 minute game,
seems slightly out of place. It's not even surprising anymore when United fall behind. Everyone
just hems and haws and waits for the inevitable equalizer.
