On Sunday, Brazil secured a historic double, winning both the Women's and the Men's 2010
Homeless World Cup. The women secured the title in the first of the day's matches, beating Mexico
7–3. Later, the men's team cruised to a 6–0 win over Chile.
The Mexico men's team won third place after Portugal fought back from being down 4–1 to force
the match into a penalty shoot out.

ruining our work shoes, we've noted that each team seems to have a very specific (and frequently
non-football related) approach to training for the World Cup.

HJK host Jaro at the Sonera Stadium tonight at 6:30pm. The home side have recorded three
straight victories (KuPS (H), Inter (H), VPS (A)) after the opening day defeat against TPS in Turku
and sit second in the table, a point behind JJK. Jaro have also recovered from their dodgy start to
the season, that saw them get beaten by biggest relegation favourites RoPS (A) and Haka (H), by
taking all three points at TPS and drawing at home to KuPS.
Did you miss NFN's three-part Veikkausliiga preview? Don't worry, you can find it here, just
click on the linka. Part I -Part II - Part III.
Nordic Football News has once again brought you the most definitive Veikkausliiga preview
concievable. Now for the final part, our standings prediction.
It's time for the annual NFN Veikkausliiga preview. As with last year, a three part preview,
starting with the title contenders. Want to guess who we think will win?
Enough has been said of the tumultuous Veikkausliiga offseason with match-fixing and
money-taking allegations that I'll try to steer clear of it for the purposes of this preview.
Do you like self-congradulatory columns with a hint of smugness? In that case, you're in luck!
In a tradition stretching back to never before, let's take a look at the predictions made in our
Veikkausliiga preview package in April and see where we are. How has the season unfolded? Who gets
the last laugh?
Finnish is a great language for cursing. My favourite curse word in Finnish
football is actually Norwegian. I don't know who the poor soul was who was first to utter the
words, but the phrase "We will be Finland's Rosenborg" has to be equated to the rudest possible
insult imaginable.
The Finnish league has made it all the way to the 8th round, which makes us here at the NFN
Ivory Tower quite ready and willing to single out some teams for harsh criticism. We could also
carve out the positives out of some teams' performances, but who wants to read good news
anyway?

Tampere United had to make a jailbreak on Tuesday because AC/DC invaded their home ground.
Janne Oivio continues his skewed coverage of Veikkausliiga following the preview package
published last week.
It's ridiculously early to do a power ranking, but I don't care. Having just completed NFN's
Massive Veikkausliiga Preview I was so delighted with myself that I decided to begin a running
feature which will run hopefully every other week.
If you missed Part One featuring the relegation candidates, click here.
Mid table mania strikes! The ho-hum of the league promises to be quite intriguing thanks to Jaro
going ballistic with new, exciting faces, MyPa finding an interesting bone in its body and Tampere
United just being Tampere United.
In the run-up to my Massive Season Preview 2010 (to be published very, very soon), I thought I'd
start off with the conventional random predictions and pre-emptive awards for the upcoming season.
As I don't want to spoil the enormous excitement surrounding who I will deem worthy of champion
elect status, I'll focus on other, more important things in this space.
He wins and he's slated. He loses and he's feted. I don't get Avram Grant.
It all began when his buddy decided to give him a job. Fortunately for Avram, that buddy was a
billionaire Russian oligarch with a football club to spare. Â The media were not amused:
"Make one thing clear: there is nothing in Grant's professional CV that qualifies him for a
job as intricate and demanding as this.
American midfielder Daniel Antunez started his first game in over a month for Inter Turku in the
club's impressive 3-0 win over VPS while Mariehamn's American trio dropped a crucial one versus
Haka.
IFK Mariehamn's American trio will look to climb further away the relegation zone when they host
Haka while Greg Eckhardt and VPS will aim for a valuable three points against Daniel Antunez and
Inter Turku.
Daniel Antunez and FC Inter picked up a big road win in Finnish Veikkausliiga action on Wednesday
evening downing Haka at Tehtaan Kentta in Valkeakoski.
We'll hopefully get a chance to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain again tonight in the Arsenal's
Carling Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City at the Emirates. No doubt AW will shuffle
the pack to give players such as the Oxo Kid, Park Chu-Young and Yossi Benayoun a run, while at
the same time resting key first team personnel.
Josh Wicks and Mariehamn held off ten-man Haka to extend their unbeaten streak to four games while
Jeremy Vuolo and AC Oulu lost ground in the promotion race with a home loss to Ykkonen leaders
PK-35.
Daniel Antunez and FC Inter return from a slightly extended break when they hit the road on
Wednesday to take on Haka at Tehtaan Kentta in Valkeakoski in midweek Veikkausliiga action.
