Hajduk Split have had a terrible start to the season in Croatia, especially by their elite
standards, sitting 14 points behind leaders Dinamo Zagreb after 12 games up until this weekend. Fan
anger though with no reports of any incidents or threats prompted police to step-up security during
training and at matches this week.

When a derby, a tried and true proper derby, comes rolling around the corner, the last thing you
want as a fan is your team suffering through a dark spell. This goes doubly so if you're a more
passionate type with ties to a more 'passionate' fan group, as recent fines from uefa for
hooliganism [...]

Bragging rights originating from the Eternal Derby will not masquerade Hajduk Split's lack of
conviction at the ‘business end' of the campaign as the aftertaste of the 33-match saga is one
inundated with disenchantment and an equally-concentrated dose of envy. This frustration was
inevitable because the history of the Croatian First Division informs us on the occasions Hajduk

domestic cup honour.

Hajduk Split celebrated their 98th birthday in flawless fashion as they defeated
Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in the Croatian First League to march ahead of their local
rivals to the top of the division. Eager to retain the championship that has eluded their grasps
for the three long seasons which have been conquered by Dinamo, Hajduk stepped into the first match
after the winter break in an all-too familiar position of second place but attaining the derby
honours soon swayed that.

This video clearly shows Hadjuk Split defender Jurica Buljat landing a good 'un on a Varteks
Varazdin player. It shows it in spotlight, in slo-mo and even in backwards time. He swings,
connects and floors the guy. But for some reason, he only gets a yellow. Seems the ref was looking
the other way when knuckle [.

After kicking off the Champions League & UEFA Cup, Europe goes back home and hasn't left us
wanting, giving us some very big and very interesting games over the next two days. Though it would
