CONCACAF Women's Soccer qualification for the London 2012 Olympics kicked off on Thursday night in
Vancouver, Canada with the tournament hosts demolishing Haiti 6-0. Action will continue for the

Canada rolled past Haiti 6-0 in its opening match Thursday night at the CONCACAF Women's Olympic
Qualifying tournament in Vancouver, B.C., but starting left back Lauren Sesselmann (Green
Bay Notre Dame) was forced to leave the game at halftime due to a knee injury.
The 28-year-old Sesselmann was injured in a collision with Haiti's Samantha Brand.

Antigua and Barbuda are an unlikely opponent for the USA in next year's Semifinal Round of World
Cup qualifying. But the nation of just 80,000 earned their spot in the group that also includes
Guatemala and Jamaica. They capped their progression from the second round of qualifying with a
famous 1-0 win against Haiti, the heavy group favorites.

As you know, Sounder at Heart does not have any official supporters' group affiliation. We do,
however, consider ourselves friends of most of them. If you'd like to know any of them better, we
highly recommend that you attend one of their two end-of-year parties. As it turns out, Kasey
Keller is scheduled to be at both of them.
In one of the biggest surprises in all of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying, the tiny island nation of
Antigua and Barbuda have reached the semifinal round for the first time in history after defeating
Haiti and capturing the top spot in Group H. They won each of their first five matches in the
second round by a combined margin of 25-3.
The U.S. could learn its final opponent tonight for the semifinal round of qualifying for the 2014
FIFA World Cup when Antigua and Barbuda hosts Haiti. Sitting on 12 points with two matches
remaining, Antigua and Barbuda are two ahead of the visitors, so a victory tonight would seal their
passage. Any other result and their fate will be decided four days later, when they play the final
group match against .
It appears that two Sporting KC players will be playing this weekend. Roger Espinoza was apparently
called up by Honduras for their friendly on Monday against Serbia. The call up was made before KC's
season ended and I've been unable to find any updates since the initial roster was released on the
2nd of November stating whether Espinoza was still participating or not.
CONCACAF has announced that the draw for its 2012 Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament that will
be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from Jan. 19-29, will be held on this coming
Monday, October 24 at 2:00 PM ET. The draw will take place in Vancouver.
All matches of the tournament will be played at Vancouver's newly renovated BC Place Stadium with
the top two teams qualifying for the 2012 Women's Olympic Football Tournament.
Another day of international duty for Sporting KC players today. Four players had national team
duty today, three of them started. The one to not start, didn't even appear for his country, as
Teal Bunbury didn't make the bench again for the United States in their 1-0 loss to Ecuador tonight
in New York.

Yesterday was a good day for the two Sporting KC internationals involved in World Cup qualifying
during this international window. Peterson Joseph an Haiti got things started off well with a 7-0
win over the US Virgin Islands. After being up 2-0 at the half, Haiti made all 3 substitutions,
including sending on Joseph.

To go along with Roger Espinoza's call up for Honduras, four more Wizards players have been called
up to represent their respective national teams. Teal Bunbury, Peterson Joseph, Craig Rocastle, and
Shavar Thomas have all been called up to the US, Haiti, Grenada, and Jamaica respectively.
The biggest games of the international break are for Joseph and Rocastle whose national teams have
two World Cup qualifiers.
A slightly brighter story is shaping up in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying games played by
Haiti. They've followed up a 6-0 trouncing of the Virgin Islands with a 2-0 defeat of Curacao.
Haitian football has, of course, been through a lot during the past years, including the death
of key personnel during the earthquake, a harsh post-earthquake 9-0 loss to the U.
The USA beat Jamaica 2-0 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The sides will meet again in World Cup
qualifying next year.World Cup qualifying is underway in CONCACAF. Games have been going all day and there's a full
slate of qualifiers tonight. Of course the USA has a bye in the second round so it won't be in
World Cup qualifying action until June of 2012.
Today CONCACAF World Cup qualifying starts for 19 more national associations in the confederation,
with matches going on from Toronto to Georgetown. (Or is Paramaribo further south?) This post will
be updated throughout the day with results and events as they come in, but I'll be working so it
will be more of a semi-live blog.
James Marcelin suited up for Haiti. First time I've seen Haiti's kit I believe.
Good luck James!
If you happened to catch this weeks CNN Hero, you would have seem that it was a soccer related
one so it is definitely worth a shout out! When Patrice Millet was diagnosed with
a deadly cancer, he decided to start living the life he'd always wanted: helping needy kids in his
native Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
The Portland Timbers today announced that midfielder James Marcelin (Haiti) and defenders Steve
Purdy (El Salvador) and Rodney Wallace (Costa Rica) have been called up by their respective
national teams in order to participate in international matches scheduled from Sept. 2-6.
Timbers Press Release
In the old times, goal celebrations were very boring natural and didn't have any art in them. If
you watch Rivelino WC old famous goals, you notice that he used to run a lot, then when he does not
know what else to do, he just stops. Well, even scoring a decisive goal in the WC final, the guy
was running out of any ideas, that was Alessandro Altobelli in 1982.
Now then. You don't need us to tell you that the FIFA World Rankings are a load of old toilet.
Indeed, we were saying the same thing six years ago (this excellent piece by Swisslet explains how
the ranking system works - it is the same today except only four years of results are taken into
account, not eight).
The draw for the Homeless World Cup has been made and Scotland's men find themselves in Group G
with Indonesia, Romania, Kyrgyzstan, Ireland and Germany.
As two of the most established Homeless World Cup sides a meeting between Scotland and Ireland, the
group's highest ranked side, can normally be relied on to enthral.
With the group stage kicking off tonight, it seemed like a good time to total things up by country.
The surprises so far:
MLS Goes Five-for-Five: All four US teams made it through to the group stage. Additionally Toronto
FC made it to the group stage and propelled Canada to the top of the list thus far.
Below are the results by country for the first three full years of the Champions League. Once the
2011-12 tourney is done, I'll update this post.
As you can see, not every country competes in the tournament every year. The 2011-12 tournament
will see two new countries added to the list: Guyana and Haiti.
The draw was held today in Brazil.
And from the looks of things this is about as easy a path as the USA could hope for. No real
threats until the Hexagon.
The USA enters in Round 3 (of 4) and has been drawn into Group A with Jamaica & the winners of what
look to be the 2 weakest groups from the previous round (Rd 2) E & F.
CONCACAF announced that Haiti's representative in the Champions League, Tempête FC, will play its
preliminary round home leg versus Morelia in Mexico. In fact, both legs of the tie will be played
at Morelia's Estadio Morelos stadium. Under normal circumstances, CONCACAF would exclude the
national representative if there was no stadium in the country that met international requirements,
but the confederation gave a special dispensation to Haiti because of continued recovery efforts
from the massive and catastrophic earthquake last year.

las mejores fotos del certamen futbolistico mas longevo en la historia del fútbol y el tercer mas

Edward (Etch) Andrajack is a friend to IMS. I've run several stories here about an organization
he volunteers with called People to People Sports Ambassadors which has allowed Etch and many
others to travel and coach in different counties around the world. Etch has made several trips to
Brazil to work with youth.
Well, sort of.
Drawn into Group A, the Galaxy face Alajuelense of Costa Rica, the winner of the preliminary
round series between the Mexican Clausura runner-up (either Morelia or Pumas) and the Caribbean
club championship runner-up, as well as the winner of the preliminary round series between Honduran
Clausura champion Motagua and Guatemala's Municipal.
- Keith Hickey The last time the CONCACAF Gold Cup was here, it came as an addendum, an
afterthought to the FIFA Confederations Cup. Watching the B team take on Haiti and Panama was
hardly an exciting prospect compared to playing Italy, Spain, Brazil, or Egypt. Getting our
proverbial backsides handed to us by Mexico on our own turf didn't help our estimation of the
competition, either.
