The team continues to undergo it's offseason makeover. Leo Krupnik, formerly of
Maccabi Haifa, has just signed on with Maccabi Netanya for an undisclosed sum. He appeared in only
three games, starting in two.
If you are keeping score at home, that is now 9 players that started 2009 with the Bulls, who
now find themselves elsewhere.

This matchday of Champions League and Europa League has provided us with action and entertainment.
Anyone who said the group stages are boring is proved wrong big time, with big teams slipping, and
small teams fighting, the group stages will be fought to the death.
In the Champions League, Liverpool boss Benitez is risking big with a 1-1 draw against Olympique
Lyon, although the reds aren't out of the competition mathematically, they will need many results
to go their way so that they can go through to the knockout stages.

Champions League View: Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC could get 10 points and still not
qualify.
An entertaining set of Champions League games threw up some unexpected results, great games and
the odd ninja (but not a very effective one). Almost all of the big names have a chance to reach
the knockout stages, even though the likes of Bayern and Liverpool have made it very, very
difficult for themselves.

It's probably not news to you that Juve and Italy's Gigi Buffon is quite good at the old
goalkeeping. But just in case there was any doubt, take a look at his save vs Maccabi Haifa in
Champions League Group A yesterday. First the close-range block, then the elastic lean backwards to
palm it away from [.

Ooh la la!
Leave it to those Italians.
Juventus' Paolo De Ceglie, left, and Giorgio Chiellini, right, not only gave their shirts to
fans in the wake of the Italian club's 1-0 victory over Maccabi Haifa in Israel Tuesday, but their
shorts, too. (AP Photo).
I offer this picture not so much so we can ogle Italian bums (although my wife, ahem, begs to
differ), but as a vivid reminder that the UEFA Champions League is on again today.

AC Milan's 3-2 win in Madrid on Matchday 3 lifted them to the top of Group C and a repeat
success on home soil would take them a step closer to the first knockout round. The Matchday 3
win was a big morale boost for Milan while Madrid slumped. Madrid put a three-game winless run
behind them with victory over Getafe CF on Saturday but face a tough task in overturning Milan at
home.

Bordeaux vs. Bayern Munich
Group A leaders, Bordeaux will look to edge even closer to a place in the next round. To do so
they will have to beat Munich at their home ground.
Bordeaux were clearly the better side a fortnight ago as they frustrated Munich players into
getting two red cards.

Partiamo dal
Gruppo A, dove la
Juventus supera, a fatica, il
Maccabi
Haifa con un gol (il primo in
Champions) del difensore centrale
Chiellini. Ma il
merito del successo va diviso con
Gigi Buffon, autore di parate fantastiche. Il
Bordeaux, invece, piega il
Bayern Monaco per due a uno.

Without setting the world alight, Manchester United proved again how far we have come in Europe
over the past few years. Of course, you could argue the two appearances in the last two European
Cup finals already have shown that, but it's results like the one last night in Moscow that do it
for me.

The UEFA Champions League has complete three rounds of group stage matches or its half-way
point. A few teams are very close to clinching a spot to the knockout stage while some clubs have a
lot of work to do. Manchester United and Chelsea are both 3-0-0 and a win away from clinching their
spots to the next round.

Oy. Unless your name is Aaron and you are the co-writer of this blog, yesterday was the ugliest day
yet in the contest, as the five participants combined for just 57 points - 26 of those coming from
Aaron, who nailed two games perfectly.
They say the best thing after a bad performance is to come right back out and try it again, and the
Champions League gives us that opportunity on Wednesday with eight more matches from Groups A-D.

Si è conclusa ieri sera la seconda giornata di Champions League e, come al solito, le sorprese, i
gol e ele emozioni non sono mancate. Partiamo dal Girone A, dove il fortino bianconero regge

Group A
Bayern Munich and Juventus played to a 0-0 draw in Germany. Apparently the home side dominated, but
got nothing out of it but an injury to Arjen Robben. Bordeaux got a late winner at home to beat
Maccabi Haifa 1-0 on a header by Michael Ciani (83').
Group B
At Old Trafford, Manchester United came back from a second-half deficit to beat Wolfsburg on goals
by Ryan Giggs (his 150th with the club) and Michael Carrick.
