Me and the machines
First of 2 trips to Wearside, starting with the league match tonight and the FA Cup the
following week. Beginning of a very important 7 days for Arsenal Football Club according to Arsene
Wenger. 3 matches that will decide our season. An European cup tie against AC Milan sandwiched in
between 2 meetings with Martin O'Neill's Sunderland.

There will be no hero's send-off for Thierry Henry.
After Henry scored the final goal in a 7-1 Arsenal victory over Blackburn last weekend, Arsenal
manager Arsene Wenger eluded to the possibility of extending Henry's loan up to the London derby
against Tottenham on Feb.
Arsenal legends Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams are squaring up for a head-to-head clash – with
the winner securing a coaching role at the Emirates.
The former Gunners are frontrunners to replace Steve Bould within the coaching staff at the club
at the end of the season.
Bould is poised to replace the retiring Pat Rice as Arsene Wenger's No.
Arsenal's newest midfielder Thomas Eisfeld has made it known that he is proud to be chosen as a
Gunner, particularly as he aims to strike a partnership with Tomas Rosicky a man he grew up
watching at Borussia Dortmund.
The 19-year old Eisfeld arrived from Dortmund yesterday to complete his move to North London
ahead of the transfer deadline and after being unveiled, the youngster pledged to make both his
current and former club proud.
Arsenal's on loan striker Carlos Vela must see an openining in the Gunner's midfield, as an

Arsene Wenger said he doesn't expect to sign any new players during the rest of the January
transfer window and feels it should be scrapped anyway. Which is a little odd considering we just
saw Thierry Henry climb into Emirates Stadium through the window. If he sticks to his word, then
Gunner fans shouldn't expect to see the cavalry arrive in the nick of time to save the season from
sinking any further.
After an amazing cup tie and a full week off it's time to return to the real business of
Premiership football with a visit to The Liberty Stadium to take on Swansea.

From the outside looking in, everything seems to be fine in Gunner land. King Henry comes back

However, after reading between the lines, I wasn't too thrilled with Arsene Wenger's pre-game
"motivational speech" to the fans, players, owners, and sponsors.
Arsenal face Leeds in a repeat of last season's FA Cup 3rd round tie, with the Gunner's winning
3-1 at Elland Road in a replay. Thierry Henry will be named in the Gunners squad having officially

When Thierry Henry scored in Madrid in 2005, the ITV commentator, Peter Drury, I think, called
him "the gunner galactico" and since we have now given our record scorer a statue, it seems a fair
representation of his greatness.
In April 2004 I stood in the lower east stand, just over an hour before kickoff.
I'm proud of the team today.
An Arsenal side composed mostly of our youth players and our second string benchwarmers did much
better than anybody expected, outplaying a "reserve" Man City side that still had the likes of
Nasri, Dzeko, Aguero, Johnson, and De Jong on the pitch and which likely cost more to assemble than
15 first XI's in the EPL.
Following the International break, we are back in the full swing of club football with Arsenal
playing their third game in a week; what with City on Tues, Wigan on Saturday and Olympiakos the
following Tues, we are busy. Long may it remain thus because it means we are in all
competitions.
