Being forced to sell his captain during the January and consequently losing matches heavily did for
Simon Grayson. While OTP feels slightly sorry for the recently sacked Grayson, we won't be dwelling
on his departure for too long because there are some exciting prospects in contention to be the new
boss at Elland [.

Some of our younger bloggers may not know that Sir Alex Ferguson almost became Arsenal manager
before Mr Graham. The Don Howe era had come to a sticky end with Steve Burtenshaw acting as
caretaker manager, therefore Ferguson who was the hot young manager following his superb job at
Aberdeen was approached by Arsenal and according to him, turned them down after lengthy
negotiations.

People talk to me about Barcelona's current team as the greatest ever. I even hear stories about
the Ajax side that had Johan Cruyff. The AC Milan side with the Dutch trio of Riijkaart, Van Basten
and Gullit is always mentioned as well. Hell, even United's 1999 treble team has been dubbed as one
of the best.

Terek Grozny is more famous for the things which happen on the sidelines like Ruud Gullit, for
instance than it is for their on-pitch accomplishments, as they've never finished higher than tenth
in the RPL. They're also rather famous for their home base, being the local club of Chechnya and
all, while being run by Chechnya's president, Ramzan Kadyrov.
Rooney, Suarez or Silva... who would be first on your team sheet?
Former Chelsea boss Ruud Gullit and 16-time champion jockey AP McCoy join our correspondents to
select their top choices.

Ruud Gullit is growing back his famous moustache in support of men's health charity Movember.
Movember, the month formally known as November, challenges men across to show their support for
men's health by growing a Mo (slang for moustache) throughout the month, and this year Ruud Gullit
will be rising to the challenge by growing back his iconic moustache.
I was reading an interview Ruud Gullit has given recently about Luka Modric and it got me thinking.
According to Gullit, he believes that we still lack creativity in our side and believes that Modric
is still the man Chelsea need. He said:
"The player Chelsea still need, for me, is Modric, They have great players all around
the pitch but he has something Chelsea doesn't have at the moment.
Jaime Carragher has had a "pop" about Chelsea and our appointment of AVB ahead of up and coming
British managers. When asked about foreign managers here he said:
"Benitez, Houllier, Mourinho – they've all got things about them in terms of having
won the big trophies. Does that mean English managers don't get a chance at the Premier
League?
Former AC Milan and Netherlands forward Ruud Gullit has been dismissed as coach of FC Terek Grozny
after a disappointing start to his first spell in Russian football.
It appears as though Ruud Gullit has lured Anderlecht ace Mbark Boussoufa to Russian aim high side
Terek Grozny. With the three-time Belgian Footballer of the Year goes much of the Mauves' attack
impetus. This move begs the question: Who steps into that role? Some will expect Kanu to take up the
lead playmaking role, but he has been panned as sloppy of late and Anderlecht will likely play even
Clueless? Is Ruud Gullit, who once had a clue about human rights and admired Nelson Mandela,
now ignoring similar issues in Eastern Europe all in pursuit of big rubles? (AP Photo)
The second column today isn't by me, it's by Associated Press columnist John Leicester. But it
certainly holds plenty of interest for Galaxy fans still simmering at the coaching record of Ruud
Gullit who was fired after a club-record 12-game winless streak in 2008, a season that ended with
the Galaxy's worst-ever record of 8-13-9.
It's a long way from Chelsea to Grozny, but in one of the most extraordinary appointments in recent
sporting history, the legendary Dutch footballer and former Chelsea boss Ruud Gullit has been
unveiled as the new manager of Terek Grozny, the Russian premier league club from the country's
restive region of Chechnya.

My favourite strip is the Sampdoria home kit of 1990-92. There are actually two slightly
different kits, as the 1991-92 version has the Scudetto shield on the left breast following Samp's
Serie A title win. However, it seems churlish to distinguish between the shirt worn winning the
Scudetto and the shirt that recognises that triumph.
Former Chelsea and LA Galaxy manager Ruud Gullit has become manager of Russian
Premier League outfit Terk Grozny.
Terek hope he can supply what it takes to win a Russian title which is set to last a marathon 15
months to accomodate the League changing to a Winter League. Isn't it always Winter in Russia?
