Ducky's Note: Rathna Prashanth looks at a novel way to solve Torres'
striking problem. By getting rid of Drogba!
Legend, proven goal scorer, leader on the pitch- these are some of the terms that describe the
powerful Ivorian Drogba, aka the Top Dog of the Bridge. At 150 goals and still counting, not only
has he been an amazing goalscorer for Chelsea, he has also been a tremendous athlete.
I think we all agree that the Chelsea job isn't exactly a bed of roses based on the levels of
expectation put on you as manager. You would imagine that only the most confident, determined and
focused managers would even entertain the idea of taking the hot seat here and a task of taking the
club out of the shadows of the Jose Mourinho era at the club.
Gudjohnsen fractured his leg in two places in the game against Olympiakos, when he collided with
Oly's goalkeeper Constanzo. Gudjohnsen will be out for at least four months, but I think we won't
see him on the pitch for the rest of the season.
Well, more or less good news is that we didn't lose the game: 1-1.
Stoke City F.C. are leaving no stone unturned in their meticulous preparations for the club's
first European campaign in 37 years. With work afoot to build a squad that can cope with the
rigours of playing twice a week, they have also embarked on the gargantuan task of making thousands
upon thousands of sandwiches.
We got ourselves a new striker. Eidur Gudjohnsen from Iceland will join us the next two seasons.
Gudjohnsen is coming over from Stoke City. The captain from the Iceland national team played for a
lot of clubs, including Barcelona, Chelsea, AS Monaco and PSV Eindhoven.
The transfer to Athens came throught this sunday afternoon after some trouble, because West Ham
United was also interested in Gudjohnsen.
Eidur Gudjohnsen looks set to remain in English football, but must choose between Premier League
newcomers Swansea City and Championship side West Ham United.
It was interesting to look at the full list of released Premiership players yesterday to see if
there was any possibility of constructing an article on possible targets for Spurs next season. The
short answer was a resounding ‘no' – unless Tottenham wanted to replace one injury stricken
player with a few more.
Clint Dempsey keeps re-writing the record books.
A few weeks after setting the single-season goal record for an American in the Premier League,
Dempsey scored twice in Fulham's 3-0 victory over Bolton Wednesday to become the club's all-time
leading goal scorer in the Premier League era with 33.
I was reading this article posted by a Chelsea fan who was giving his opinion on the 10 players
Roman Abramovich should not have sold/released during his time at Chelsea and it got me thinking to
say the least.
He lists the 10 players as the following:
10. Gianfranco Zola
9.
Go north, try hard, lose. The annual Goodison defeat is out of the way and we are now free to
concentrate on more plausible opponents, such as Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers.
Fulham were poor in the first half. We couldn't keep the ball, we didn't do especially well
getting it off Everton.
Celebrate Valentine's Day with the real gift that keeps on giving a Fernando Torres hat
trick.
Hey, Didier's been dropped. Hallelujah.

OK, I could have put a picture of the Spaniard Torres up here but I got to watch Kenny Dalglish
play and I'm rooting for him and Liverpool, in this game and going forward.
LONDON, England Stoke striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has completed a loan move to Fulham until the end of
the season. The 32-year-old was expected to remain at the Britannia Stadium on transfer deadline
day but the Cottagers made a late bid. The experienced striker had his medical in Stoke and then
returned to the club's [.
Luis Suarez is expected to hold talks with Ajax in the next 48 hours in an attempt to convince the
Dutch side to reduce their £30 million asking price and let the Uruguayan striker join
Liverpool.
Ajax have informed Damien Comolli, the Premier League side's director of football strategy, that
only an offer matching their valuation would tempt them to sell the 24 year-old, suggesting the
£12.
Ajax manager Frank de Boer has admitted he wants any potential move by Luis Suarez to Liverpool to
be conducted quickly.
The Reds have reportedly been in contact with the Dutch club regarding Suarez, however the clubs'
valuation of the player is believed to still be some way apart.
The Merseysiders are anxious to add fire-power to their line-up as they have been over-reliant on
Fernando Torres this season which has seen them fall down the Premier League.
