Auto Golazo 29 September @ 02:52 PM EST
Click to continue reading...

CCL: Big Win For DC

USSoccerPlayers 25 September @ 08:00 AM EST
DC United made a major statement in CONCACAF Champions League Group B play on Thursday night, beating Marathon 3-0 at RFK Stadium. Due to the political situation in Honduras, Marathon had to travel six hours by bus to reach an open airport in Guatemala. "They had a long couple of days getting here and unfortunately for them, they weren't 100 percent," DC midfielder Ben Olsen said. Click to continue reading...

A roundup of Central American league action

HexagonalBlog 21 September @ 12:15 AM EST
It's been a while since I've done a roundup of the leagues in Central America, but now's a good time now that we're approaching the midway point of the short seasons: In Guatemala, Municipal have opened up a four point lead over their closest rivals Xelajú. The big surprise in the Apertura has been the performance of promoted side Juventud Retalteca. Click to continue reading...

The Battle for CONCACAF

Major League Soccer Talk 03 September @ 07:56 AM EST

With two relatively straight forward fixtures this week, the United States National Team is almost guaranteed to be leading the Hexagonal after this international break. But this will guarantee nothing, as the one time magic 15 point mark for World Cup qualification from CONCACAF is almost sure to be exceeded by four nations this cycle.

Concachampions: Aprendan al Pachuca

FutblogMexicano 05 August @ 01:42 AM EST

Hey, I know you

Honduras...again...?Really?It's weird how she goes with the U.S. national team. A couple years ago it seemed like Panama was there at every turn. Then it was, unfortunately, the anti-soccer of Guatemala that seemingly was standing in front of the U.S. every other match. Now that onus falls to Honduras, which will play the U. Nothing fazes Guatemala's Fredy Garcia

This is Fredy Garcia of Guatemala, and he is a proper hard player!
Faced with the full force of a ball from Mexico's Luis Miguel Noriega from all of 2 yards, that crashes into his face, he merely brushes his nose bleed off with a shrug and gets on with the game.
That must have hurt though! Click to continue reading...

Tuesday's Column: U.S. Attitude Will Bring Victories, Respect

Almost as instructive as the U.S. loss to Brazil Sunday in the final of the Confederations Cup if we are looking forward to gauge the national team's chances of future success on the world stage, was the Mexican scoreless draw with Guatemala in San Diego.

The U.S. goes down blazing against the world's best; Mexico struggles to get anything out of a game with a modest soccer nation.
