"I have a squad thiiiiiiis big"FILLING HOLES, FEELING
WHOLE
Isn't it refreshing to hear Aron Winter and his troops talk about how the club is "almost
complete"? Barely a week in to training camp and the club's depth charts are nearly full. With the
most recent acquisition completed, Chilean defender Miguel Aceval, the biggest hole of the
off-season - the defence - has pretty much been taken care of.
Stop me if you have had heard this story before. An Arsenal players original injury is
misdiagnosed and during his rehab, he gets injured again. This scenario almost cost Thomas
Vermaelen all of last season, and now it is happening to Jack Wilshere. Its like Groundhog Day all
over again.
Wilshere, whose original stress fracture injury was misdiagnosed, underwent surgery in the fall
and was expected to make his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt this season in the next few
weeks.
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson expects struggling Liverpool striker Andy Carroll to play against
his old club tonight, but suggests that if he doesn't make the first XI, it could mean his days are
numbered at Anfield. Writing in his column for the BBC, Lawro - who admitted it was like 'Groundhog
Day' watching Liverpool - argued: "Luis Suarez's suspension for his gesture to fans at Fulham means
To lose all four of our first team fullbacks at once to long-term injuries really is
unfortunate.
As an example of serious bad luck it's right up there with Wayne Rooney finding himself at
Grab-a-Granny night in the local nightclub with both arms in plaster; or Harry Redknapp taking a
wrong turn into an auction house and accidentally winning 53 bids on account of his twitch.
Instead of six more weeks, Stuart Holden's injury Groundhog Day will go on for another six months.
And my USMNT midfield depth charts just got an extreme makeover.- Greg Seltzer
It feels a bit like Groundhog day at the moment and it's not because I'm stuck in the Insurance
industry from 9 til 5 during the week. It is however because Stevenage have begun this season in a
very similar fashion to last year's campaign. A draw at home in the league has been followed by a
narrow defeat in the Carling Cup first round to Championship opposition.

Groundhog Day. Theo Walcott has been forced to fly home with an ankle injury. Walcott will now
undergo further scans with the new Premier League season just two weeks away. "Theo went home early
and was due to have an MRI on Tuesday," Wenger said. "It is an old ankle injury from the end of
last season.

Nothing will change next season by Gaz Gael Clichy has gone to Manchester City. Samir Nasri and
Cesc Fabregas will shortly follow him out of the Emirates exit door. Arsene Wenger won't be willing
to spend the money needed replace these players. So expect cheap, second rate players, probably
from France, to be brought in [.
"You can't have my goolies, Zamparini, you hear me"
Can Arsenal have a straight transfer story for once? Football's groundhog day is surely the
inevitable summer ritual of Cesc Fabregas's "will he won't he this time around." Now, we have the
story of Velez Sarsfield winger Ricardo Alvarez suiting up in Arsenal kit.
I have to tip my hat to some Arsenal bloggers out there, those dedicated writers who write a
daily piece on our club and still manage to keep it interesting, accurate and insightful. You'll
find some of them on the left hand side, and I'd highly recommend having a look if you haven't
already, particularly if you are struggling with the absolute dearth of sense in the written
press.
It's Groundhog Day. I mean, weren't we just here? Didn't we just go through all this?
Alas, it's a case of "rinse, spit, repeat." And in this case, it's a bitter, bitter
mouthwash.
Javier Morales fell beneath the unwise tackle of Chivas USA's Marcos Mondaini on Saturday.

Dexysden founder Darren I joins the usual team to discuss the demise of his beloved Arsenal
Football Club, and the boys discuss John Terry's possible reappointment as England captain.
I know I was pretty excited to hear about this so called, "major announcement" that the MLS
would be revealing yesterday morning at 10AM EST. A few of us on this site had even kicked ideas
back and forth on what could be announced. Maybe a new TV contract? Maybe announcement of the long
rumored New York Cosmos re-invention (you know, so they could actually pay the people they have
already hired for working on a real, non-imaginary team)?
