Gudjohnsen fractured his leg in two places in the game against Olympiakos, when he collided with
Oly's goalkeeper Constanzo. Gudjohnsen will be out for at least four months, but I think we won't
see him on the pitch for the rest of the season.
Well, more or less good news is that we didn't lose the game: 1-1.
It's been a busy week in American soccer news, gaining a German-born player in Fabian Johnson and
potentially losing two American-born players in Joe Corona and George John who have been recently
linked to Mexican Under-22 and Greek National Team camps, respectively.
FC Dallas defender George John has established himself as one of the best young defenders in
MLS, and a player worthy of U.S. national team consideration. His success caught the eye of the
Greek national team, and now has caught the attention of English club Blackburn.
Here is my Fox Soccer story on Blackburn making a bid for John, a bid that stands a good chance
of being accepted.
UK journalist Matt Slater has summarized the corruption scandal in Greek football for the
English speaking world here, but one line struck me in particular:
When Deputy Culture Minister Giorgos Nikitiadis said this was "the darkest day in the history of
Greek football" it was probably the first pronouncement by a politician anybody in the country had
entirely agreed with for months.

FC Dallas defender George John recently trained with the Greek national team prior to Greece's
friendly with Ecuador in New York earlier this month.
This is Mike (AEK Baltimore). I haven't posted since our 2010/11 Europa League campaign came
to an end. But summer's here and its time for some summer reading suggestions for the thinking
footballer!
Jonathan Wilson, genius football historian and analyst and author of the brilliant Inverting
the Pyramid (yes, I'm a fan), is the editor of a new football journal named The Blizzard.
FC Dallas defender George John will accompany the Greek national team for its friendly against
Ecuador at Citi Field in New York on June 7.
John, 24, is a second-generation Greek-American, is eligible to represent both the United States
and Greece and he is uncapped by both countries.
I get many sorts of press releases to my email box. Some are very interesting. This was one of
those. In a press conference in Athens today, Greek national team coach Fernando Santos named a
20-man squad for a UEFA EURO 2012 qualification match against Malta on June 4, 2011 at Georgios
Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus and a friendly match against Ecuador on June 7, 2011 at Citi Field
in New York,
