Alex Oxlade Chamberlain
Alex made his big move to Arsenal in the summer for a massive £15million. The England U21
international has been outstanding when he has featured this season and will have a big part to
play in the second half of the season. At the start of December Wenger tipped Chamberlain to make
the England 2012 squad for the summer tournament which could him play more and more in the second
half of the season.

When I first started watching football as a child in the mid-1980's FC Cologne (1. FC Köln) was
one of the traditional powerful clubs of the Bundesliga. Cologne was the first champion of the
Bundesliga in 1963/64 and in 1978 won the "double," which to this day is the pinnacle of success in
the Rhein city.
Sergio Koke and Carlo Costly may have ultimately been disappointing signings, but there's no
question Brazilian midfielder Luiz Camargo was a fantastic late season pick-up for the Dynamo.
Camargo fit right in to the central midfield role, allowing Geoff Cameron to return to the defense.
His play down the stretch was a big part of the Dynamo's improved form and run to the MLS Cup
Final.
Following Manchester United's Carling Cup exit against Crystal Palace last night, OTP looks at five
players on display night who are treading a tightrope if they want to continue their careers at Old
Trafford. 1. Darron Gibson It looked like Fergie was going to ship Gibson out on the regular
Manchester-Sunderland service during the summer.
Arsenal striker Andrey Arshavin rarely speaks about Arsenal in public as he is wary of being
deliberately misquoted, or having his words 'taken out of context'. Rafa Benitez also suffered
exaggeration and misquoting at the hands of the British press, and in a rare recent interview,
Arshavin expressed some sympathy for Liverpool's former manager.
In 1996 Olympic Games, Italy played its second game against Ghana. Both lost their first game 0-1:
Ghana lost to South Korea and Italy to Mexico. It will be a definite disaster for the team that
will lose this game. Italy had some great names like Gianluca Pagliuca, Alessandro Nesta, Fabio
Cannavaro.

Soccer News courtesy of guest blogger, Lewis Melcher.
Here is what I see for the beginning of the 2011-2012 season:
I do not see the Blast blowing out teams. Since the Blast will have a lot of new players to get
used to playing with their veterans I would expect that they will loose steam early on with five
back-to-back games and two games with only one day off on the schedule.
Chelsea's Juan Mata sparked on his debut game for Andre Villas-Boas' team by scoring a fine goal
against Norwich City last weekend, the Spaniard's fine contribution on that game gave plenty
praises from many people including his teammate, Frank Lampard.
The Blues' vice captain saw glimpse of Arjen Robben and Damien Duff in the way Mata plays
especially with the ex-Valencia player's ability to deliver telling crosses as well as playing on
two football, which have been something that Lampard's miss for a while.
The performance last night by Newcastle side had a lot in it to make Newcastle fans just a
little bit concerned. Not many happy Newcastle faces on the sidelines last night But there were
also some good, and even great performances from some of the youngsters like Tim Krul, Sammy Ameobi
and Haris Vuckic, and things probably evened out between that terrible first half performance
and Newcastle's play [.
While there is more speculation today over an approach for Sandro – this time from Villareal
– the player himself is ignoring it and looking forward to next season.
Speaking in this month's Hotspur, Sandro said,
"I believe I am well adapted for the characteristics of the English game because football here
is for a tough and strong type of person.
I loved Martin Jol when he was at Spurs. How could you not? The genial giant with that hypnotic
Dutch accent knew how to click with the fans. Besides, I was scared he'd be upset if I didn't like
him. He's really big! I wouldn't want him angry with me. No matter how much I liked him when he was
at Spurs and no matter how disgusted I was at his treatment at the end, nothing prepared me for the
gushings of admiration for him today when he was announced as Fulham's new manager.
The press were in love with Samir Nasri for much of this season after some great performances.
On paper he didn't look amazing, with just 1 assist to rival Edwin Van der Sar's record. Arsenal
favourites, Patrice Evra, Alexander Hleb and Nicklas Bendtner, amongst 175 other players, all
managed to set up more goals than Nasri this season.
Seventeen league titles, five European Cups, seven League Cups and fifteen Manager of the Year
awards. Both adored by their fans, admired by their peers; and despised either end of the M62.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Bob Paisley OBE are undeniably the masters of their trade. Title after
title has been mixed with majestic football and an unerring enjoyment of standing on the sidelines
shouting at some of the worlds' most famous sportsmen.
It is difficult to draw a straight conclusion about a TV drama which has a Scotsman playing a
Welshman called Murphy in the lead role. And the BBC's 90-minute dramatisation of events
surrounding Manchester United and the 1958 Munich air tragedy has produced a complex set of
reactions. Before picking through some of these complexities, let me say I found United to be a
compelling, enthralling, well-scripted drama.
1. After several players talking about making amends for Saturday's disappointment, we didn't
see any real urgency until the last 15 minutes. We're still in the driving seat but a win last
night would have put all the pressure on Arsenal and Chelsea today. Now they'll be galvanised,
knowing they can get closer to us with a win tonight, and a game against United yet to play.
All the Results from Liverpool's International Stars

Michael Regan/Getty ImagesAs the International break came to a close yesterday, the Reds who have
been away with their national teams will be returning to Melwood.
I hesitated a bit to write a review of our loss against Lituania. First of all, I didn't want to
post an emotional, full of resentment and anger note. Secondly, it's hard to make any foregone
conclusions after this game as it was hard to make any of those after our win against Norway. The
fact is that we can't expect any sort of consequence from our team: neither a string of great
performances, nor abysmal ones.
Matchday 30 was pivotal for the scudetto, relegation spots, and the Champions' League positions.
One hero has fallen, another has been revived, and one team is as good as gone. And yes, it's
Bari.
1. Serie A is as tight as ever. 10 games played, 21 goals scored. No team won
by more than two goals.
Arsenal 1 Birmingham 2
Fair play to the manager - he offered no excuses.
But there's no getting away from the fact that this is a deeply disappointing result - not so much
in that we didn't win the Carling Cup, but that the trophy drought goes on. Since we won the FA Cup
in 2005, we've lost three cup finals and three semi-finals.
Some viewers may have done a double-take early Saturday while watching the replay of Liverpool's
first goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers to see if Fernando Torres was offside or not. With hair
bobbing up and down, it was a female assistant referee who made the critical decision to keep her
flag down, allowing Torres to run on and take a pass from Raul Meireles and for Torres to slide the
ball into the back of the net.
The only disappointment last night at the Newcastle West Ham game, was the crowd was only 42,387.
Leon Best last night challenging Gabbidon We say only because around 10,000 fans missed the chance
of seeing Newcastle absolutely dominant against a West Ham side that just couldn't contain
Newcastle. There were some great performances last night [.
The New Year has been and gone and we are now in 2011. Last year did not end on a good note for
Milan as they were humbled at home by a resurgent Roma. Nonetheless, Milan still maintained their
top of the table place in the Serie A thanks to a number of great performances [...]
