A few notes from around the club today, including the signing of another young talent (as seen
below).
Window shopping
Mikel to be fit for Saturday, Lampard likely
• After some seven weeks on the shelf, John Obi Mikel is finally ready to resurface.
A first win of 2012, seven goals, a striker in the form of his life, and one of the most
exciting young talents in the country. Finally a day really worth cheering about.
The emergence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in particular, is great news for the club. In recent
times Arsene Wenger seemed to have lost his touch with bringing in exceptional young talents, with
the likes of Diaby, Denilson and Walcott not fulfilling their potential, and the most exciting
player, Wilshere, coming up through the club's academy.
Liverpool boss, Kenny Dalglish has come out and said that there will be no signings in or out of
Melwood this window.
After two great results against the Manchester clubs this week, it is easy to think that we have no
need to find a striker and a midfielder in the January window.
However, we are seventh in the League, behind unfancied Newcastle and six points behind Chelsea in
fourth place.
After the Super Bowl winner is decided, Wes Welker will become a free agent. However, the star
wide receiver for the New England Patriots insists he's not thinking about money right now.
Said Welker: "I plan on being back. I am not really too worried about that right now. I am fully
concentrated on this game and what we have to do, but I plan on being back.
Right colour, wrong shirtIt's a Chile afternoon in Toronto! Great news for TFC
supporters and pun-lovers alike as The Reds officially announced the signing of Chilean
international defender Miguel Aceval today. The announcement concludes a signing-process that has
been rumoured since December but spent the last few days floating around MLS red-tape limbo.
It is great news that both Mikel Arteta and Thierry Henry are returning from injury this week, but
although it is certain that these two will be starting against Aston Villa in the FA Cup this
weekend, who else will Wenger be putting in the starting line-up. Wenger has made it clear that his

Gary Cahill has finally signed for Chelsea. He will wear the number 24 shirt.
The most drawn out
transfer saga of this window has finally been concluded as personal terms
were agreed and a medical passed on Saturday morning. Speaking of the deal Cahill is quoted on the
official Chelsea website saying:
'Chelsea is a massive club, it is a club that looks to win trophies season in season
out and it is a big opportunity for me to be a part of that.
With Luis Suarez suspended, and Andy Carroll not scoring regularly, Liverpool are in the market for
a 'fox in the box' type striker to (regularly) put away the multitude of chances created every
game. Credible rumours (confirmed by Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson) suggest that Darren Bent is
on his way to Anfield, and that's great news, but Liverpool should also (IMO) pull out all the
stops to
Is this the worst hat ever? It might just be. This Wigan fans donned a festive hat, probably in
anticipation of a stuffing at the hands of Chelsea. But it wasn't to be as Jordi Gomez bagged a
late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw for the Latics. Great news for Roberto Martinez, but not [...]
Great news today that Newcastle captain Fab Coloccini and top midfielder Cheick Tiote both start
for Newcastle this afternoon against Swansea at home. And the other good news is that David Santon
get a start at right back as we had hoped for, following his good performance at Norwich last Week.
As expected James Perch will line [.
Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish surprisingly opened a can of worms at his press-conference on
Thursday when he questioned the reduction of Man Utd's Wayne Rooney getting a three-game ban
reduced to two games for next year's Euro Finals.
Kenny Dalglish was quizzed about his views on the FA's successful appeal that means Wayne Rooney's
England ban has been reduced two-matches.
4 months. 4 months since we couldn't count on a full squad. And boy, was it felt. But could our
initial fortunes be coming back to us? All of a sudden, no more injured (except Tafer and
substitute keepers Vercoutre and Lopes), no more suspended (Dabo has served his three matches after
being sent off against Saint-Etienne).
This world is riddled with boring cliches pertaining to the human spirit. Phrases such as don't
give up and never back down. Ridiculous drivel seemingly custom-made for the cinemas.
The path of Sam Hutchinson is ready for the big screen as well only thing is it's a true
story.
Warrior
Hutchinson, amazingly, signed a new one and a half year contract with Chelsea on Thursday.
The Baltimore Blast are leading the way not only on the field but also in regards to average
attendance for the 2011-2012 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) season.
Though the Blast have only one official home game to count the attendance for that game was a
strong 8,078. Compare this with the one official home game for the new Norfolk SharX franchise
which had a disappointing home crowd of only 2,347.

Get in! Great news (if true) that that vile racist in the my tram experience video has been
arrested.
There are few things in life worse than a racist. Great to see that the masses have ganged up on
that particular cretin.
I love it when the like of her and the EDL and the BNP get rejected.
I must say I always enjoy it when a German club comes to town. They invariably bring loads of
fans, make lots of noise and have a cracking time. Marseille and Arsenal might still be in the
driving seats in this group, but Dortmund's win on Matchday 4* means they are very much back in it,
and if that fact hasn't been drummed into the team throughout this week in training then I'm a
goalscoring Dutchman.
Why I'd unleash Craig Bellamy on Chelsea and Ireland's qualification is great news for
Euro 2012
Liverpool have a tough challenge against Chelsea tomorrow. It's a game neither can afford to
lose. If Liverpool suffer a setback, they are out of contention for the title (although I always
thought getting back into the top four was their best hope this season).

Reports surfaced over the weekend that Danny Sturridge is soon to be rewarded for his good start to
the season at Chelsea with a new contract being offered to him to tie him down to the club for the
foreseeable future.
This for me is great news, Sturridge is our future and I have said it before and will say it again,
his attitude since he came back to the club has been first class.
It's been another bad week for Hibs.
So I'm happy to share some good news.
Seven years ago Hibs awarded their exclusive merchandise rights to themselves.
That meant the club shop at Easter Road was the only place fans could buy official club
merchandise.
This had its benefits.
Great news for Chelsea Football Club and the CPO today with news that Hammersmith & Fulham Council
have pledged to work with us to try and find ways to extend Stamford Bridge so that we do not have
to move from what has been our home since 1905.
In a statement featured here, the a spokesperson for the Council said:
"In light of the recent decision by Chelsea Pitch Owners PLC to retain its freehold of
the ground, we reaffirm our desire to see Chelsea FC remain in the Borough and our commitment to
help the club to remain at its historic home of Stamford Bridge.
The other week I listed ten reasons why it is brilliant to be a Brisbane Roar fan right now. Here's
another one: the media about our team is endless, and pretty much all flattering. Here's just a few
of the headlines from the last few days:
Possession statistics compare A-League's Brisbane Roar to La Liga and European champions
Barcelona
Brisbane, That Was Football Porn
Who Can Stop Brisbane Roar
The Roar Effect
Brisbane Roar are a Gift for the A-League
That really is only a few, and they're not by Roar partisans.
Thomas Vermaelen has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal believed to be four years. It
is brilliant news for all Gooners after so much talk of players wanting to leave in the summer and
the eventual departure of both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
TV5, who is said to be close to full fitness said: "I am really happy to have signed a new
contract with Arsenal.
Remember when you read that Joe Corona was all set to play for Mexico and pass on the chance to
play for his actual country of birth, the United States?
Well, scratch that one. It seems the LA-born Corona is ready to follow in the footsteps of Jose
Torres and Edgar Castillo and bypass Mexico to play for the United States.
Liverpool Football Club would like to offer their congratulations to Martin Skrtel and his
girlfriend following the birth of their baby boy. Barbora gave birth to Matteo in Liverpool on
Friday night.
Speaking to his official website, Skrtel said: "I would like to announce great news! My lovely
girlfriend Barbora gave birth to our first child!
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Oct 6, 2011) US Soccer Players -- So we now know what a top-tier
soccer game on network television draws. Even on tape-delay, it's about 1.5 million viewers. That's
the takeaway from Fox's experiment in showing delayed English Premier League games on Sunday
afternoon, and it's also a new goal for what counts as success with televised soccer in America.
Carlos Cuellar got on the pitch last night for the first time since his knee operation in May,
playing 45 minutes in the reserves' 1-0 win over Chelsea Callum Robinson with the goal and says
that he's feeling good.
That's great news for a very popular player, but what happens from here remains to be seen.

Yesterday we posted a poll to determine what you think the best candidate destination would be for
Major League Soccer's 20th team. The overwhelming winner was Minnesota, and although an e-mail
and Twitter campaign may have significantly contributed to the success of the Twin City area, there
are definite upsides to moving MLS up North.
Wolves have tied down Irish striker Kevin Doyle to the club until 2015, which
should rule out Arsene Wenger attempting to sign him in the January transfer window having been a
Gunner's target in the Summer.
A deligted Mick McCarthy told www.wolves.co.uk: "It's great news that Kevin has signed the new
contract and his future is now secured for another four years.
Great news today and it could be that Newcastle know what they're doing. Jonas Gutierrez - New
contract takes him through 2015 Jonas Gutierrez, Newcastle's Argentine International winger and big
fan favorite, has penned a new four year deal at Newcastle, that will keep on Tyneside until
the summer of 2015, when he will be 32 that July.
Dallas Cowboys fans have one thing on their mind heading into tonight's Monday Night Football
game against the Washington Redskins: Is Tony Romo going to play? The good news for the Cowboys and
their fans is that, yes, Romo plans on playing.
Even though Romo suffered a punctured lung and a broken rib last week, he says that he's "good
to go" for MNF.
The Syracuse Silver Knights have officially announced that they have signed the teams first player
in the history of the new MISL franshise:

Syracuse Silver Knights Sign former league MVP Jonny Steele
That must come as great news for fans of the new franshise, especially after rumors thet the newly
named Chicago Kick may not be starting play this season (even though the team is included in the
2011-2012 MISL schedule).
