Big Story
The Football Association likes to boast of all its work in grassroots football and developing
under-privileged sides of the game, but as we've seen in its continually disappointing treatment of
women's football, there's an awful lot more talk than action.

Football now spend $8 million per year on junior development/grassroots football. A long way from
the AFL's $45 million but lightyears from the old days, and that figure will surely continue to
grow in coming years.
Cottees announcing school football gala days, up to $20,000 for your club for up to three years
from NAB/FFA and now this.

Now many people complain that grassroots football is too expensive. The FFA even say in their
talented player document recently released that we have a (moral) responsibility to reduce the
costs.
Clearly with targeted sponsorship and the Federations providing outstanding opportunities for
sponsors through our participation rates this can be done.

The week's Ultimate 11's is total Mustard! It's our first all Mustard line up. Matt Quinn gives
us his beloved Barcelona 11, and what a team. Just look at that bench!
Do you really know your clubs proud history or are you just a teenage glory hunter? (not
mentioning any names from the Kings Road).

I hate that I do!
Those toffs at the FA had me in a bloody head boiling rage when I read this the other day. They
have sent out a warning to their Football Foundation stakeholders of a proposal to cut 20% from
their £15m-a-year contribution to the grassroots sport charity.
You wanna know why, get this: They can't afford the rent on the old Soho Square headquarters
which has been sitting empty since last summer when they upped sticks and moved to the new £800
Million Pound Wembley, complete with crap transport links and the same 70's tiling along Wembley
way and £200 million pound retractable roof that doesn't retract.

Marceltipool – the fledgling club for London-based Olympique de Marseille, Celtic and
Liverpool fans – is coming along very nicely. Disappointingly, still no Marseille fans are
involved but our first training session should be taking place over the next week or so and ideas
are being bounced around for next season.

Football and religion
Dr John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, has criticised the Premier League for scheduling games
on Easter Sunday, saying it should be a day to spend time with those we love. I like Dr Sentamu. He
speaks a lot of sense, most recently suggesting that making St George's Day a national holiday
could promote unity in England.

I remember when I used to answer the phones for Danny Kelly (now talkSPORT) and we'd sit in the
studio wondering what would take off that week. How could we get the phones buzzing? And the one
that caused meltdown more than most? The best ways of getting into the ground for free.

Onwards and upwards Many moons ago when flicking through copy of the free Sport newspaper I
stumbled upon a piece on a website that acted as a classifieds directory for football teams
searching for players and vice versa. With the best of intentions (specifically: offering myself as
a lazy inside-left with a shot outcome sequence of goal kick, trickled into keeper's arms, throw-in
and goal) I vowed to sign up that evening.

There was a sickening moment last year when a well known celebrity died and the 24-hour rolling
news networks couldn't make up their minds if he'd actually left this mortal coil or not. Reason
being, they reported rumour before checking out the facts.

What have these goals got in common? David Bentleys volley, Deco's over head kick, Van Persie's
right footer against Liverpool. They are all truly great goals, which we will no doubt seen another
100 times before the season is over. But what about us? The real people, we play football too you
know. So we thought [.

No win situation A minute's silence, please, for a dead profession; an imPOSSIBLE profession; a
DREADFUL profession. A minute's silence, my friends, for the only white people who can truly know
what it's like to be discriminated against based on the colour of their skin—or, in this
case, the colour of their jersey: REFEREES.

amazing weeks in India it made me realize just how up tight us Brits really are.

The Irons 4 Lambeth 5 As it's early days and the Irons are a new team, we'll go easy on them for
now, truth is, they do deserve a coating for the friendly defeat on Saturday, but on a positive
note there's room for improvement, and thanks to UK Football Finder they have found a few gems.
They also looked the dogs in their new UKFF sponsored kit!

Sven McClarens England impress England came through their toughest test with a superb 2-0 victory
against the gardeners, plumbers, estate agents of Andorra. With Germany proving there are no easy
games in International football with a very unconvincing 6-0 win in Liechtenstein this was a
warning to the rest of the world that England are back!

Taxi for Berbatov Nobody died, no one got the sack, no one's house was repossessed and no one got
turned down for a role in Hollyoaks, but this morning at 9am we held a minute's silence in the
office. Not for love, for money, or for ambition, but for football. Why? For the moment Sir Alex
decided to act as a chauffer for his one and only Dimi, football as we know it ceased to exist.

It's girls week at UK Football Finder Just to prove it's not all about us guys here at UKFF we
interviewed little cutie Kerry Oldham of Billericay Town Ladies and here's what she had to say. I
always played sport as a child for as far back as I can remember. We were lucky to live in a
cul-de-sac with a large green area in the middle for all the kids to congregate.
