On Shawn Francis and the new MLS Insider blog

The Fake Sigi Schmid Blog 19 November @ 09:00 AM EST
A few weeks back it made the news that Shawn Francis, purveyor of "The Offside Rules" would be making the jump to MLS to act in an editorial role for their new digital media initiative. Earlier this week, the first public fruits of that hire were unveiled with the new MLS Insider blog.
I have to admit that I never found The Offside Rules all that interesting. Click to continue reading...

Hands up who's panicking?

LadyArse - Arsenal and the world of football from a woman's perspective @ OleOl 15 November @ 04:20 AM EST
I wrote the following before I got the news that "Van Persie has torn his anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament, and his anterior talofibular ligament has unfortunately snapped- hes out for the rest of the season." No club confirmation yet, so let's hope this is just some little journalist jumping the gun. Click to continue reading...

Competitive Cauldron Details

On The Pitch 15 November @ 12:47 AM EST

I read Anson Dorrance's book "The Vision of a Champion" a while back, his 2nd book where he talks about the competitive cauldron system they use for UNC Women's Soccer. He talked about a coach who had adapted it for youth teams, but the links provided don't work anymore and Google failed me, so I'm working on my own adaption.

Cristiano Ronaldo: He’s No David Beckham.

The Offside 10 November @ 06:00 AM EST
(That headline may crash Google. Apologies.) The #7 Red Devil to Madrid train has treated the Spanish quite well so far. Whilst Cristiano Ronaldo appears irreplaceable and integral on the pitch, GoldenMcNuggets was irreplaceable off of it. In the club shops, on clothing store racks, plastered on billboards Beckhamania did more for Spanish finances since [. Click to continue reading...

Palmeiras prez wants to spank referee

Dirty Tackle 09 November @ 03:14 PM EST

While Sir Alex once again displayed his ref insulting Tourrettes after his side's loss to Chelsea, what Palmeiras president Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo had to say about referee Carlos Eugenio Simon after their 1-0 loss to Fluminense makes the sum total of Fergie's ref rants look downright complimentary by comparison.

Jamelia: Exiting the Club. Again.

KICKETTE 03 November @ 01:36 PM EST

Pop singer Jamelia is handing over her WAG Club Membership- her marriage to Walsall's Darren Byfield is headed for divorce.

Although it's the second time Jamelia's had to relinquish her outspoken, anti-WAG crown, sadly, this time seems to be for good.

For those with memories as shotty as ours, the couple once severed ties due to Darren's alleged horizontal tendencies with other ladies but eventually reunited after only one month.

Real Madrid - From Embarrassment Of Riches To Pure Embarrassment

Sanford's Soccer Net 28 October @ 08:39 AM EST
Google the word "AD Alcorcon". Chances are the first thing you will notice is the glaring typo made by every football website across the globe. But there's no typo. Alcorcon did beat Real Madrid 4-0 on Tuesday night.

Product Shill: Italian NT for Gillette

KICKETTE 27 October @ 10:16 AM EST

We've seen it happen before. Many times over. Sadly, companies and their marketing teams like to take hot footballers and turn them into dorks for sales purposes. It's a wide-spread (albeit, entertaining) issue in our community.

This Gillette ad wants you to rate the "champion of the future" and you can win a razor.

Spreading The Word: Football Filter

A Liverpool Thing 20 October @ 07:00 AM EST
I have to admit that I am something of a creature of habit, particularly where technology is involved. If I'm comfortable with how something is working, then I don't really tend to go out to look for ways to improve on it.
It is why I've always stuck to NewsNow.co.uk to get an overview of the latest stories concerning Liverpool. Click to continue reading...

Jakarta Casual 20 October @ 12:59 AM EST
It has proven pretty difficult to get the low down on Vietnamese and until now I have had to content myself with sourcing a couple of on line papers and that's about it. Using Google translate on the VLeague and VFF sites just confuses me more than ever and I am bombarded by all these Ngyuens.
