We face Sunderland this Saturday at the Stadium of Light and here I am on Tuesday night
wondering whether we will see something different from Arsenal this weekend. I think I mentioned it
in the aftermath of RVP's injury but today I'm going to give it full attention.
Traditionally, Wenger has preferred the conventional 4-4-2 with the striker popping up at the
flanks just like Henry once did and another idiot who tried to do the same but to no avail but this
season saw something new.

Rafael Benitez will be a relieved man that the international break has finally arrived, hopeful
that some of his injured players will return to fitness ahead of a crucial clash against Manchester
City at Anfield on November 21.
Liverpool suffered more injury woe in the disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Birmingham City on
Monday, with Albert Riera and Yossi Benayoun both forced off.

Benfica handed
Everton another painful lesson at Goodison Park. The two-goal margin
of victory could actually have been larger, the Portuguese side missing several chances to increase
the embarrassment for Moyes's men. In the event, Benfica settled for two second half goals, one
from Saviola and one from Cardozo.

Everton should do a major rethinking if they want to progress any further in the Europa League.
They were outclassed again by Benefica and had lost 0-2 in Goodison Park. Saviola and Cardoza
contributed one goal each for the Portuguese team.

Everton will be looking to reverse their downward spiral on Saturday when they host Aston Villa
at Goodison Park. For me, this is that match of the week as we will watch two normally exciting
clubs battle to move up the table. Aston Villa will be looking to keep up with the title chase,
while Everton will be looking to move back to the part of the table they are a lot more accustomed
to.

No, not Liverpool;Â everything's coming up roses for Rafa since his Sunday
Revival. No... we're talking about the OTHER club along the banks of the Mersey. The Blue
one. The home of Alan Ball, Neville Southall, and Dixie Deane. The
club that was supposed to be challenging for that fourth place this season.

Now that the International break is over for another five weeks, it is time to get back to
Premier League action. Before the break I had a horrible week going 3 for 10, which dropped me to

Seventeen-year old Everton player, Jose Baxter was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis
with intent to supply..
Baxter was arrested in the Kirkby area of Liverpool, together with two other men. But he was
bailed out. Baxter drew attention to himself last year when he made his debut for Everton
as the youngest player (16 years and 191 days) in the history of the club from Goodison

Everton have started off quite slow in the Premier League, but apparently the Europa League is a
whole different ballgame. Steven Pienaar and the rest of the squad kicked off their Europa League
campaign with an opening match against AEK. One would think that Everton might get off to a slow
start given the immense pressure of being in such a prestigious tournament, but I guess they missed
that memo.

It seemed like every week last season somebody from Everton was deserving of the Wednesday

extremely high at Goodison Park after a fantastic season for an exciting Everton squad, their start
to this season has been less than impressive.

Three games and 12 goals should leave no room for complaint.
Yes, the opposition was weak at the weekend, but so what? I remember going to a string of games in
January/February last season where we played fairly mediocre opposition and couldn't buy a
goal.
Portsmouth might be a shambles, but we can only beat the teams put in front of us.

Goodison Park, the world's first purpose-built football ground, opened its doors on August 24,

I'm so excited by the early start. So far we have played 3 and won 3. That is pretty good by
itself. And then I tell you we've scored 12 goals. An average of 4 per game. How good does that
sound! And our defence has been largely solid as well.
Of those 12 goals, only 1 has been scored by a striker.

Come on, admit it. That was pretty good wasn't it? The Premier League has its knockers, and
rightly so in a lot of instances, but for entertainment and watchability, it is up there with the
best dramas, the best comedies and the best contests, no question.
The opening weekend of the season is a rare time in football, a time when all clubs start on an
even keel, with shiny new strips, shiny new haircuts and shiny new players, not to mention some
seriously elevated ambitions.
