Westfield W-League Round 8 preview

Girls with Game 19 November @ 06:09 AM EST
Oh dear, am so behind this week. Sorry! But I'm back and promise to update regulary from now on. So to Round 8, and it's really becoming crunch time now. Some interesting match-ups, that could mean a shake-up of the top-four for the first time in a few rounds. If the Mariners beat the Victory by one or more goals and if Canberra United beat Newcastle by two or more goals, then they will move into fourth spot. Click to continue reading...

Finally something to smile about……………………

Avenell Road 19 November @ 03:32 AM EST

Two bits of good news were announced yesterday, one is that Kieran Gibbs has not suffered any break to his ankle he just has some bad bruising and won't be out for long. I don't expect we will see him at the weekend, but back in time for The Chavs I hope. Silvestre ‘should' be able to cope against Sunderland on Saturday but The Chavs are a bit of a different story.

Even France acknowledges their entry was illegitimate

Soccerblog 18 November @ 11:36 PM EST

L' Equipe on France's entry into the World Cup makes no excuses.

"Henry controlled the ball with his hand."

The article lambastes the team. When you call Kevin Doyle, the Leo Messi of the match then you know something is terribly wrong. If it was not for Hugo Lloris, France would not have qualified.

Stevie Gerrard ready for Man City

Soccerblog 17 November @ 09:31 AM EST

Some uplifting news for the Liverpudlians. Stevie G is ready to rock n' roll against City this weekend. Will Liverpool join the list of clubs that have stuck it to City?

Personally, I think Liverpool played well against Birmingham - they faltered familiarly on set pieces but overall they were a number of positives.

Brazil 1-0 England

England World Cup Blog 15 November @ 05:50 PM EST

Well all in all it wasn't a bad result. Though I watched the game alone I had a little liveblogging adventure with Daryl and various commenters. If you missed the game I'll give you a link to some highlights, and my pity (it was a good game). It was also, despite the fact it was a loss, was an encouraging result for England.

Sagna’s going nowhere ! …………..

Avenell Road 14 November @ 01:57 AM EST

On a horrible wet and windy morning many fans might be glad that they are staying home this afternoon instead of having to travel to football, so maybe this break has come at the right time for once? No – ok, just trying to cheer up the grumpy ones who are missing their footie fix.

Look on the bright side, England play Brazil, so that could be a good game to watch, alternatively there is the France v ROI play off, first leg – difficult choice?

DRAW NOT THE END OF THE WORLD

Friends of Liverpool FC 09 November @ 06:39 PM EST
OK, so we dropped two points against lowly Birmingham at home in the Premier League to leave us 11 points behind table-toppers Chelsea but, its not the end of the world.
That's because we put our best performance of the season and we could have and should have won this match.
Liverpool played some really good positive football, mounting wave after wave of attack for the full ninety minutes. Click to continue reading...

The Fire's Defensive Play: "A tremendous team effort"

Fire Confidential | ChicagoNow 09 November @ 09:27 AM EST

When their season on the line, the Fire needed a big-time performance from the back line in Saturday night's second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New England Revolution. And did the defense ever deliver, putting together a comprehensive performance to shut down (and shutout) the Revolution and pave the way for the Fire to get into the Eastern Conference Final.

Odds not good for quality new manager

the yorkies 07 November @ 05:38 PM EST
Make no mistake - Mo Johnston needs to make more than a few good player acquisitions this winter in order to improve TFC. However, the decision that will have the deepest impact on The Reds will be who Johnston hires to manage the team. There are high expectations from the supporters but betting on a big name may not be smart. Click to continue reading...

Sorry this is late, but I wanted to wait given the injuries and the game being on Monday. Posting on Friday morning like usual would have meant even more baseless speculation over who's available.
Last 4 head-to-head:
2-2 (a) 04.26.08
0-0 (h) 09. Click to continue reading...

We have all watched a good game of football in the evening or at night under floodlights when your local team can afford them and also the electricity to run them.. But what about those little teams not in the Premier League ( like Ipswich or someone !) who cant afford to have beaming floodlights [.. Click to continue reading...
