Phil Schoen was nice enough to give the Brotherly Game some of his time about a week and a half
ago. The GolTV play-by-play announcer discussed plenty of topics with the Brotherly Game, some of
which included the Philadelphia Union.
Interview with Phil Schoen of GolTV
Here are some highlights of the chat:
- Schoen's time with GolTV, along with his coverage of Colombian soccer, has enabled him to have
a more advanced take on players from South and Central America.
The explanation is simple: Granada's Borja Gomez De Jong'd Malaga's Diego Buonanotte in the
first half of Monday's 2-1 win. Gomez was shown a yellow card for his high kick and somewhere, Xabi
Alonso felt an intense pain in his chest. Even if he didn't know why, he knew why.
Video right this way.
Another Philadelphia Union player is on his way out of the club, as Kyle Nakazawa will be
traded, the Brotherly Game has learned.
Sources tell the Brotherly Game that the Nakazawa will be moved to the LA Galaxy in a move that
one of the sources said will be announced tomorrow. The trade has been in the works since sometime
last week.

Yesterday he's going, today he is staying. An article from sportinglife.com suggests that Le
Toux "did not impress sufficiently" at Bolton. Owen Coyle is quoted in the article, "Sebastien came
in for a couple of days, and to be fair to him he hadn't trained for four or five weeks.
Gabriel Gomez was signed by the Philadelphia Union in late December. Last night was the first
chance Philly fans have had to examine the versatile Panamanian.
In a 1-0 friendly loss to the United States, Gomez played as a calming link between Panama's
back four and skittish front five.
The good news: He was fantastic.

While posing a hypothetical question to the Union Twitterati whether they would accept $2.75
million for Sebastien Le Toux, Jonathan "The Goalkeeper" Tannenwald mentions, "I've been told there
has been no offer yet."
Meanwhile, Daily News reporter Kerith Gabriel writes, "It's likely the Union will start the 2012
campaign without Frenchman Sebastien Le Toux.
The U.S. Men's National Team last faced Canada in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, but it's been more
than 13 years since the teams met on Canadian soil. With the U.S. and Canada set to face each other
in Toronto at 7 p.m. ET on June 3, we took a look at the history between the sides and found some
interesting facts.

With the SuperDraft behind us, thoughts now turn to the nitty-gritty of the 2012 Union season.
Naturally, questions arise. Over a two-part series we pose ten questions to our Union beat
reporter, Eli Pearlman-Storch, beginning in part 1 with a focus on formation, roster depth and
leadership roles within the starting XI.
U.A.G. - San Luis 9pm - Galavision As we start the second week of the Clausura season, Michael
Orozco's San Luis are coming off a 1-0 home win over UNAM Pumas. U.A.G. lost 3-1 on the road to
Toluca. Guadalajara's other team needs to make a break with a subpar Apertura season that had them
finishing 16th and losing Herculez Gomez in the offseason.
The Philadelphia Union select Greg Jordan with the 32nd overall pick in the 2012 MLS
SuperDraft.
Jordan is a defensive type of midfielder, making him the fourth player on the Union that can
play in a central defensive midfield role (Brian Carroll, Gabriel Gomez and Amobi Okugo, as well).
He is a good passer of the ball and works hard throughout the midfield, a lot like Carroll.

Peter Nowak spoke to the press today, only hours after the Union announced Costa Rican left back
Porfirio Lopez as the team's fifth offseason signing.
"Porfirio [Lopez] has a great capacity going back and forth and taking pride at defending, and
that's a part we take a look at very closely," Nowak said.

Liverpool started Luis Suarez and i think this was an excellent decision by manager Kenny Dalglish.

A new article from Kerith Gabriel on Friday morning about a Gabriel Gomez to the Philadelphia
Union deal is headlined "Panama's Gomez signs with Union" but the copy says "According to sources,
the contract has been approved by Major League Soccer and awaits Gomez' signature before the Union
can schedule an announcement, which can come as early as next week.
Kerith Gabriel, of the Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com, is reporting that the
Philadelphia Union have come to an agreement with Gabriel Gomez. An announcement should come
sometime next week, according to his article.
A team source confirmed to Gabriel that a Presna.com article proclaiming talks between the Union
and Gomez had reached the finalizing stage was correct.
The Philadelphia Union went into the offseason with a variety of needs, not the least of which
was some defensive depth. Their first step toward adding that depth has led to the signing of a
versatile player who should be familiar to U.S. national team fans.
The Union is set to sign Panamaian national team midfielder Gabriel Gomez, multiple reports in
Philadelphia revealed on Thursday morning.
The Philadelphia Union are finalizing a deal with Panamanian international Gavilan Gabriel
Gomez, according to a report by Presna.com. MLS Rumors first spotted the story earlier today and
pointed out that Gomez has a history of success against Panamanian CONCACAF rivals.
The 27-year-old has spent much of his career with an inability to become settled in nearly every
city Gomez has attempted to play.
For the fourth time in two years, Herculez Gomez is on his way to a new club in Mexico.

- DaMarcus Beasley and other American exports miss out on the Mexican league playoffs.

U.S. Soccer released the roster of players called up by Jurgen Klinsmann and there are some

Klinsmann will be releasing that player after the match against France in order to let them return
to the United States and prepare.
