THFC 1882 present Kenny Palmer with a report on Tottenham Hotspurs latest
match.
After Wednesday's victory against Everton which propelled Spurs to just three points behind
leaders Manchester City the team went into the game with expectations of going joint top with a
victory over Wolves.
This Saturday brings us the seasons first game of FA Cup up against Cheltenham Town. There's no
denying that the balls have been kind to us and provide an opportunity to rest some of the more
weary legs in the first team. The Cheltenham Town fans know this and are hopeful of an upset to our
2nd / 3rd stringers, assuming of course Gomes starts.
Swiss side FC Sion have been docked 36 points by their national federation, the Schweizer
Fussball Verband. The deduction came into force with the club losing three points for every game
which featured any of six ineligible players – namely Stefan Glarner, Pascal Feindouno, José
Julio Gomes Gonçalves, Billy Ketkeophomphone, Mario Mutsch und Gabriel Garcia de la Tore in the
country's Axpo Super League.
Harry Redknapp has hinted at another quiet January for Spurs fans but is this just a smokescreen
or will the dealings at White Hart Lane next month really mirror those of 2011?
In goal, there are no immediate problems but if Heurelho Gomes does leave, it may make sense to
look for a permanent replacement for Brad Friedel now, rather than later.
As soon as the QPR takeover was announced in the summer, a host of Spurs players were linked
with a move to West London. Ultimately, none of these transfers materialised but it's inevitable to
see further stories emerge as the January transfer window approaches.
Spurs fans will be no stranger to Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent Oleg Artemov who has been very
vocal about his client's next move in recent weeks.
It isn't just Ledley King hoping for a contract extension at the end of the season as reserve
keeper Carlo Cudicini has stated his desire to carry on playing at the Lane.
Carlo only signed a new one year deal this summer and perhaps rather surprisingly, he leapt
ahead of Heurelho Gomes to become installed as first choice back up to Brad Friedel.
When Brad Friedel arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer, many fans expected that he would
spend most of the season warming the bench behind Heurelho Gomes.
We were proved wrong but as soon as Harry Redknapp confirmed that the 40 year old American had
been installed as his first choice, rumours began to circulate as to who would come in to replace
him on a long term basis.
Brazilian sensation Leandro Damiao has revealed that he could follow Neymar's lead by opting to
remain in South America.
Earlier this week Neymar, who had looked set to move to Spain next year, signed a new long-term
contract with Santos.
Despite signing a new deal in the summer, Damiao was being strongly with a New Year move to
Tottenham - whilst Liverpool, AC Milan and Ukrainian giants Dnipro and Dinamo Kyiv were also being
linked.

A few eyebrows were raised when Spurs picked up Brad Friedel on a free during the summer and the
majority of supporters were assuming that the American had joined as Tottenham's back up keeper for
2011-12. He would either be warming up the bench, putting pressure on Heurelho Gomes or a new man
would have stepped in to replace the Brazilian.
Rarely do I expect our heroes to lose – away to the Manchester clubs are about the only
fixtures this season in which I would regrettably project nul points - but to that roll of
dishonour let the epithet "Rubin Kazan. Away. And With Kids" be added. Those Russians can rightly
feel a tad aggrieved at having to slop back off to Siberia with nothing but commemorative THFC
thermal underwear, for they had the woolly mammoth's share of possession and chances that night,
and are likely to cause us a fair degree of bother on their own patch.

It looks almost certain that William Gallas and Steven Pienaar will make their first starts of
the season in today's Europa League Cup tie with Rubin Kazan. The club needs to give them some long
awaited game time but elsewhere, the side features some new names and is largely the ‘young team'
that Harry promised.
Welcome to Aeroflot Mr.Pavlyuchenko. Just the single ticket? Six English players took the field for
Spurs last night with an average age of 22.5 and an average height of 5ft. 8in. They saw off a
spirited performance once again by more experienced opposition in the Europa cup to head their
section on the verge of qualification for the next stage.
Me neither. In fact, I'm not sure there is a soul alive who understands quite how we managed to
toddle off from that with a win, but bearing in mind the perils that lurk within the mouths of
gift-horses I suggest we stuff the three points under our jumpers and sneak off before anyone
notices.
It might be an idea for Jake Livermore and Sebastien Bassong to bond over a Jason Statham DVD
night or some other such bromantic activity, because last night neither seemed to be aware that the
other was of the same species, let alone the same centre-back pairing.

While Roman Pavlyuchenko sealed the win for Spurs last night, the frustrating enigma that is
Heurelho Gomes showed the best side to his game with some reaction saves that kept his side
ahead.
The Brazilian may have been a surprise choice in goal and after saying for much of the season
that he can leave in January, Harry Redknapp hinted after the match that Gomes may still have a
future at Spurs.
Spurs line-up: Gomes; Walker; Livermore; Bassong; Rose; Lennon (Modric);
Sandro(Kaboul); Carroll; Dos Santos(Assou-Ekotto); Defoe: Pavlyuchenko
'From Russia with love'
Roman Pavlyuchenko reclaimed his SuperPav tag, even if only for tonight, with a rocket-like free
kick that was enough to claim the win for Spurs.

When Manchester United signed 20-year-old goalkeeper David de Gea for £20m you could more or
less predict what was going to happen. His first mistake would be magnified, he'd get ripped apart
in the press and would be under the spotlight from then on.
So, the script had been written and de Gea complied, letting in two soft goals against City at
the Community Shield at Wembley.
Mais um jogo amistoso, foi disputado no dia 10/08/2011, na cidade de Bakau-GAM, onde jogaram as

FIFA).
Antes desse jogo, as 2 seleções nunca haviam jogado.

O primeiro gol do jogo, foi de Tijan Jaiteh, aos 19 minutos do primeiro tempo, sendo seu primeiro
gol pela seleção nacional.
Transfer rumours switch from midfielders to goalkeepers again today as the papers continue the
hunt for the man to replace Heurelho Gomes.
If the error prone Brazilian does leave the club this Winter, there is a good opportunity for a
young keeper to step in and develop behind Brad Friedel for a couple of seasons before taking over
as number one and Spurs will hope that this situation could entice some top European talent.
If the transfer rumours aren't talking about the next striker to walk through the door at White
Hart Lane, they're linking us with goalkeepers to replace Heurelho Gomes and the latest of these is
25 year old Zeljko Brkic.
Brkic currently plays his football in Italy but after joining Udinese in the summer, he was
immediately sent out on loan to Siena and it is thought that his parent club would be willing to
cash in if the right offer were to materialise.
Spurs look set to lose one Brazilian from their squad in January but the question is, how many
if any will be coming the other way.
Harry Redknapp had already stated that Heurelho Gomes would be looking for a new club ahead of
the new season in Brazil – comments that he has underlined today.
Fare thee well Carling Cup 2011/12, it's been one rip-roaring, lip-quivering heck of a ride,
with highlights including the mesmeric second round bye, and the frantic googling of the name
Massimo Luongo. However, when we turn back the yellowed, sepia-tinged parchment that records these
travails, the outstanding memory will undoubtedly be one man and his quite astonishing inability to
get anywhere near saving penalties.
So, anyone care to talk about Tuesday night? I wasn't privy to any of the goings-on or morbidly
curious enough to indulge in what you might call highlights, but the gentle murmurings about town
seem to murmur thusly: that Gomes was bad, GDS even more so and Pavlyuchenko a poor first-touch
away from being publicly lynched.

Europa League or Carling Cup, which ought we to want less? It's a tricky one. The Europa League
trophy is a sizeable beast, and its lack of handles gives it a pleasingly Neanderthalic edge –
one cannot help but handle it in rough, uncouth manner when raising it aloft, which is rather apt
after 90 minutes of blood and thunder.
A lot of the talk around the Spurs squad has centred around goalkeepers this week. Firstly,
manager Harry Redknapp underlined the fact that he considers Brad Friedel to be the club's number
one while at the same time, Carlo Cudicini has been trusted with the gloves in the Europa
League.
That has led to transfer talk involving Heurelho Gomes and it's thought that the erratic Brazilian
could be on his way as early as next January.
‘Tis held in some quarters that as a whippersnapper the schoolboy ‘Arry would wile away his
hours yelping "Wolf!" with tedious regularity, but on Saturday even the cynics amongst us realised
that his "bare bones" mantra could be objectively verified. The adage has it that actions speak
louder than words, so when young Giovani was shoved out onto the pitch for a few minutes it became
evident that ‘Arry spoke sooth, and our lot really were struggling for personnel.
This is probably the hardest team to predict so far this season as we have been promised as many
as ten changes for tonight's match against PAOK.
"We've got a lot of senior players injured," said Harry Redknapp. "William Gallas, Michael
Dawson, Danny Rose, Steven Pienaar, Tom Huddlestone, Sandro, Aaron Lennon, Rafa van der Vaart, all
not fit.
Earlier in the week manager Harry Redknapp indicated that Heurelho Gomes could be allowed to
leave the club in January after confirming the decision to make Brad Friedel Tottenham's number one
for this season.
Several likely destinations are already being suggested and it seems that the erratic Brazilian
could be about to head home to link up with Corinthians.
Following the Manchester massacres, Spurs finally got their season up and running with an
excellent win away at Wolves.
After soaking up the pressure in the first half, we took the lead through the debutant Emanuel
Adebayor, before Jermain Defoe made sure of the points. It was refreshing to see two Spurs strikers
playing together and both getting on the score sheet, while in midfield Scott Parker impressed
alongside transfer victim Luka Modric.
There was a certain inevitability about Adebayor scoring on his Spurs debut this weekend. Much
in the same way you could be assured that any millionaire simpleton appearing on MTV Cribs
will lead the film-crew into his monstrously decorated bedroom and declare: this is where the
magic happens, while pointing to his hovercraft-sized bed and winking like a sex pest, one
could almost guarantee the Togolese talisman would find his feet rather sharpish in the
Midlands.
