aficion estan realmente motivados.
Leeds United's Simon Grayson is regarded as one of the promising young managers in English
football, and proved it today with their historic 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the 3rd
round of the FA Cup.
Grayson's men came into the game unbeaten in 15 games and having lost only twice all season, but
they were still expected to be brushed aside by the Premier League champions.
After yesterday's joyous scenes at Stamford Bridge, as the Blues romped away with the League title
on the back of an 8-0 hammering of a truly awful Wigan Athletic, focus for Carlo Ancelotti and his
team will now turn towards Wembley Stadium and the seeming formality of winning the FA Cup and
becoming the first Chelsea side in history, to lift the double.
The FA Cup never fails to bring romance back into the game of football. In classic David versus
Goliath fashion, Leeds United relived moments of their past glories by shocking a strangely subdued
Manchester United. That win brought about feelings of "can do" while approaching the subsequent FA
Cup 3rd round match of the weekend, West Ham United versus Arsenal.
I was lucky enough this weekend to be able to watch both FA Cup semi finals that took place
at Wembley stadium in London from the comfort of my own home. As we know, Chelsea got the better
of Aston Villa while Portsmouth went through against Tottenham in a fantastically entertaining and
dramatic game.
So Goliath emerged unscathed, David was sent back to the Highlands licking his wounds.
Congratulations to Dundee United. They were below par. But they managed to keep their heads and
they were deserving winners. Three good finishes as well, from Goodwillie and twice from Conway.
The game itself was a disappointment.

It is just a little bit tempting to be distracted by tonight's tennis game. I gaped in awe at the
news that Sam Stosur actually beat Serena Williams, as I thought that could only ever be done by a
Serena Williams clone. Note to any future genetic engineers: if you're going to make a sporting
superhero, make sure you make two, so the competition can stay interesting.
Not many things in life play out as expected, yet we are always surprised when things turn out
differently than we intended them to. That's why I'm trying to prepare you for the inevitable for
the World Cup. David will defeat Goliath at some point. Giants will fall, and teams that haven't
been making headlines leading up to the World Cup will do damage.
The classic David v. Goliath collision is about to happen, and I am here to draw the line in the
sand.

Friday, June 18th 2010
Kick Off : 15:00 BST
Venue : Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg South Africa
The World Cup's group C fixture between Slovenia and United States will be played at the Ellis
Park Stadium on Friday 18 June 2010, kick-off set for 3:00 PM.
What a day. From heartbreak for German supporters to frustration and outrage for us Americans to
depression and resignation for England's weary fans--it's been an exhausting and emotional day.
And we're only one week into this thing.
But if you're an Algerian supporter, you have a lot to feel good about.
THE BIG PICTURE
The two teams will be converging on from either side of the football spectrum: Italy has the
history and the World Cup trophy technically still in tote; New Zealand is a minnow at this
tournament and earned history with their first ever point in the Slovakian opener.
Morning all, from a soggy Dublin.
First things first, the Cesc stuff from yesterday was recycled. The quotes were apparently given
to a magazine called DIR Emotion. DIR is a chain of gyms in Barcelona. Me and Mrs Blogs used to be
members of one near c/Mallorca, if I remember correctly. I stole some towels from them as I felt I
wasn't getting value for money.
I went 7/10 in Gameweek 1's Quiniela and would have done better if Madrid hadn't fallen flat in
Mallorca. This week has a few interesting matchups as the domestic season resumes.
It has been a slow start to the Spanish season with the Interlull taking place
immediately after the first round of games.
Egypt went down to Niger in the an African Cup of Nations qualifier like Goliath went down to
David.
A team ranked 154th in the World beat ninth-ranked three time defending champion Egypt with a
solitary stone ..er goal.
Dr. Amos Amadu Today Naija Football 247 reposted a Sahara Reporters story about journalist
Olukayode Thomas's struggle with the Nigerial football/sporting executive Amos Adamu (FIFA and CAF
executive board member). "How a David Defeated Goliath in a Nigerian Court" is well worth reading,
as is a more recent story on the same site about the place of that scandal in FIFA's delay of the

Life's rosy at Rosenborg is a post from: Just Football
Rosenborg have it all their own way in Norway. But for how long? Winning his first cap for
Just Football, Charlie Anderson has more.
You may be aware of Rosenborg. They're the club in Norway that people have
actually heard of.
TP Mazembe v Inter
Saturday, 2100 local, 1800 CET, 1200 EST
Despite the 'puncher's chance' and ample proof that TP Mazembe is for real, Inter is not Inter.
Or Internacional is not Internazionale, at least. Apples and mangoes, if you will, and this is
firmly, even more so than the semifinal, David v Goliath.
Listening to the radio this morning I couldn't help but realise that it was the FA Cup Final
this weekend. A final we could've and probably should have been playing in. As I listened to the
commentary clips from the semi final declaring "a magical day in Portsmouth's history" and
"David have slain Goliath" a wave of sadness and disappointment washed over me.
