Add another award for Zach Thornton on the season. Today the league named Thornton it's Comeback
Player of the Year. At the same time the league also announced Fredy Montero as the Newcomer of the
Year.
Montero was one of the league leaders in goals scored this year. His 12 goals on the season blew
away any other newcomer in that category.

The United States has already qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals in South Africa. They
will be playing two friendly matches in Europe in the upcoming international break. The first will

Remarkable Recovery
Euro 2008 was a hugely enjoyable tournament on a number of levels. Viewers across the globe were
spoilt with a month of delightful, positive football. Spain were indisputably the best team on
show, and deserved winner of their first major championship in 34 years. However, a personal
highlight was the re-emergence of Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic, after he had spent most of 2007
recovering from 2 kidney transplants.

FC Dallas Defender Dax McCarty has received his first US call up and has been named for the
November 14th US match. Jeff Cunningham after winning the MLS Golden Boot has been recalled, as has
Defender Heath Pearce after his strong play down FCD the stretch run. Of note to FCD fans will be
the continued call up of ex-blue liner Clarence Goodson and one time golden boy Eddie Johnson.

FCD striker on the heals of his remarkable second half of 2099 that landed him the MLS Golden Boot
has been named a finalist for MLS MVP. Landon Donovan of LA Galaxy and Shalrie Joseph of the New
England Revolution are the other two finalists. Cunningham scored 13 goals in his final 12 games of
2009 and led MLS with 17 goals.

Yeah I'm almost a week behind on this, but was thinking the team may actually announce more winners
than just MVP, Golden Boot and Humanitarian of the Year. Anyways, this year, the award winners
consisted of 2 players, Josh Wolff and Jimmy Conrad.

Swedish legend Henrik Larsson had an emotional farewell from professional football on Wednesday
night as he played his last ever professional game for Swedish side Helsingborg. Larsson had
announced his intent to retire at the end of this season but decided to bow out one game early in

FC Dallas forward Jeff Cunningham capped off a remarkable late season surge with his second
Bundweiser Golden Boot award as the League's top scorer. Cunningham had 17 goals in 2009, one
better than the last time he won the Golden Boot in 2006. His '09 run included scoring in six
