We still no know in what league Miami FC will play next years. Will it be USL? Will it be MLS-2? We

out from drunken sources in the last tailgate at Lockhearts stadium that Miami FC plans to build a

Yuck. You stay up late on a Saturday night to watch the team play in Los Angeles and wish you
hadn't bothered. I am detecting a trend. I was on vacation for the victory in San Jose, so I admit
that my trend is selective. The last time TFC looked this bad to my eyes on a Saturday night was on
the road in Utah against Real Salt Lake.

Well, the MLS International transfer window has passed on the Lake Ontario breeze once again with
only a Fellinga to show for it. While its never a good policy to buy someone just because they are
foreign (see Welsh, Tebily, Robert, Ruiz etc.), Toronto is a multicultural place and the fans do
like to see that global flair.

Big Story
It's that "crisis" word again. Following the Sweeper's report last Friday on the SPL's growing
financial troubles, the Argentinian Football Association has announced it is
canceling the league season's August 14th season opener across all divisions due to unpaid club
debts totaling USD$182 million.

On English language websites yesterday the big news surrounding ESPN is about the network
acquiring Setanta's package to air Premier League matches in the UK. But perhaps bigger news was
made stateside as ESPN returned to showing regular European league football for the first time
since losing La Liga rights in the early part of this decade.

As you can gather by reading this article from the New York Times, ESPN has purchased the
broadcasting rights to Spain's La Liga starting with the next season. This appears to be an effort
on ESPN's behalf to compensate for the loss of the broadcasting rights for the Champions League (I
can here that song in my head now) to Fox Sports.

Bora Milutinovic couldn't do it. Steve Sampson couldn't do it. Bruce Arena couldn't do it. But
Bob Bradley has accomplished it: consecutive games against Brazil where the US allowed three or
more goals. Prior to the September 2007 friendly in Chicago the US had held Brazil to two or fewer
goals in ten straight matchups, although the US lost nine of those games.

No DeRo. No wins in our last four. No confidence in me for this team to beat the MLS-leading Chivas
USA, who are 4-0-1. We have a huge opportunity to make a point though. If we can beat the league's
best team thus far, some of the fans can once again start believing in the potential of this team.
It is no easy task, of course.

Only a few weeks ago Miami FC looked like it was a goner. But Traffic Sports has faith in South
Florida and they have kept professional soccer alive. Traffic looks to be in this venture for the

network a lot in order to rival Setanta and FSC.
The biggest change for Gol TV has been the updating of their graphics.

According to this Wikipedia entry, Fox Sports World, now Fox Soccer Channel (FSC), launched in late
1997. This was the beginning, as far as I know, of the current availability of decent Football
programming in the US. I got the channel about 2 years after its launch, and from that time, it's
had great coverage of England's Premier League - Arsenal and Manchester United in particular.

The Champions League returns this week with some amazing match-ups. Unfortunately, the weekend

EPL Talk 07 September @ 06:54 PM EST
During an international break, it's an unusual experience watching Euro 2008 qualifiers in the
United States. The most talked about match, England against Israel, isn't even on U.S. television
(it's only available via pay-per-view, so you have a choice between paying $30 to watch it at home,
or pay $20 at the pub).
So, if you instead choose to watch Fox Soccer Channel on Saturday, you get to see three live
matches which are 'B' matches that will be very predictable and won't create much excitement:
- Russia v Macedonia, 11am ET
- San Marino v Czech Republic, 2pm ET
- Iceland v Spain, 4pm ET
Setanta Sports, meanwhile, will be showing 'B' matches also such as:
- Malta v Turkey, 4:30pm ET
- Serbia v Finland, 6:30pm ET
The only exception from Setanta is the 'A' match between Sweden and Denmark at 2:30pm ET.

A GolTV spokeswoman has confirmed that GolTV has decided not to continue its coverage of Arsenal TV
and Liverpool TV. The 24/7 soccer network aired the shows last season.
Setanta Sports currently shows MUTV and Chelsea TV. Due to a rule by the Premier League, each
soccer network can show no more than two club TV channels. This leaves room for both Fox Soccer
Channel and GolTV to add club TV channels in the future to their network.
