Last season a late equaliser saved our bacon at the Stadium of Light. Yesterday there was no
bacon saving as Darren Bent's goal consigned us to our third defeat of the season.
It was, it should be pointed out, the first time we've failed to score since a 0-0 draw at Old
Trafford at the end of last season but our ability to concede was our undoing yesterday.

If you're only going to have 5 players play well, make sure they include at least three
defenders and the goalkeeper. I'm writing in a vacuum I did have the Setanta commentator who
rightly pointed out how poor France were, but I have to say that I thought France were
shocking.
Good performances: Sagna, Evra, Gallas, Lloris, Anelka
Poor: Henry, A.

Thierry Henry does not have many fans in the Republic of Ireland tonight. The best footballer
in the world, according to the Castrol Rankings, used his hand to put France through to the World
Cup Finals next Summer. While the Boys in Green are red with fury and probably wouldn't object to a
Hammurabi-like justice exacted on the former Arsenal ace, it should be kept in mind why France
was playing Ireland at all.

co-incidence as they are arguably (or maybe inarguably) the two best keepers in the world
today.
Let me tell you what this is not: This is not a Buffon vs Casillas "who's better?

Eduardo da Silva is confident of filling the void left by injured Arsenal teammates Robin van
Persie and Nicklas Bendtner.
Eduardo replaced Bendtner in the 3-0 win over Tottenham and missed a couple of good chances to
chalk up a first strike since mid-September.
The Croatian, though, would be entitled to feel somewhat aggrieved not to have been credited with
Arsenal's second goal at Wolves, when his chip was deflected in off defender Jody Craddock, and he
remains confident the rewards of continued hard work will come.
