I 7-1 to be a Blackburn fan? No, it doesn't quite work, does it. One day we'll get to the promised
land of an 8 goal victory, and all the wonderful pun-based jokes this allows. For today, I think 7
will do. My thoughts as follows:
* We started brightly, and scored after only 2 minutes.
Liverpool 3 Bellamy 29′, Bellamy 67′, Gerrard 78′Newcastle 0 Agger (og) 25′
The first Friday night league game in England in over twenty years hardly started well for
Liverpool, following the pattern set by matches against Blackburn, Wigan, and Fulham in recent
weeks.
The past three league matches have seen Charlie Adam paired with three different midfield
partners, with each new pairing leading to a slight shift in the focus of Adam's game. From a
largely offensive effort when paired with Lucas against Manchester City through to a job as the
deepest midfielder against Queens Park Rangers, it's meant an interesting—and surprisingly
successful—progression.
After the feistiness of the first leg of the two-game Western Conference playoff series between
the Los Angeles Galaxy and New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, the return leg at the
Home Depot Center on Thursday night was sure to be entertaining.
The two teams delivered alright. An early New York goal, followed by one player who quickly
asserted himself as the Galaxy fans' public enemy No.
Timothy Chandler and the Nurnberg defense put on a fine display to bail out a misfiring attack,
holding Bavarian rivals FC Augsburg scoreless in a tight one-goal victory on Saturday.
Landing at Hong Kong airport this week, I expected to be greeted by adverts for the next generation
of electronics, or maybe banks, or cars. The sight of Stuart Downing in an Aston Villa kit on a
bilboard was a little surprising.
As another recent addition to Dalglish's Liverpool squad, Downing was an unfortunate selection by
advertisers of the Barclays Asia Trophy.
The annual Super Cup match has opened the new season in Romania with last season's league
champions Oțelul Galați getting the better of cup winners Steaua Bucharest with a single goal
victory. Laurențiu Buș grabbed the only goal of the game after just a quarter of an hour and the
champions never relinquished the lead in what was an exciting opener to the 2011-12 campaign.
GOLD CUP: Jamaica makes it a perfect group stage as Gold Cup knockout stage comes into focus -
originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The consensus before the Gold Cup was this Jamaican team was the best assembled in quite some
time. Still they were a popular pick to finish behind Honduras in the group.
Source Republica KATHMANDU, June 11: Mega Three Star Club registered a two-goal victory after four
matches as it defeated minnows Brigade Boys Club (BBC) 2-0 on Saturday in the Martyrs Memorial Red
Bull A Division League Football Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium. The win lifted the team from
seventh to fourth position in the points table.
After a return of his earlier heart troubles kept him sidelined for the final two months of the
season, Gerard Houllier has now officially stepped down as manager of Aston Villa Football Club.
With this latest health concern coming towards the end of a season that had already been trying at
times for the former Liverpool boss, everybody expected that it was only a matter of time.
The blogger vote was marginally closer, but as if the poll winner would be anything other than a
romp over United. Romps over United better are Christmas, Easter, Hanukkah, and Presidents' Day all
rolled into one.

Every time the New York Red Bulls and Houston Dynamo get together during the season or the
playoffs, something crazy happens. When you are thinking for once it was going to be a quiet game,
you aren't thinking things through. It happened again at Robertson Stadium as the Red Bulls found a
way to score early and late in the match.
The end of the domestic football season can perhaps be best summarised as a full sensory
overload. It's an intoxicating mixture of the stifling warmth of the spring, mixed with
stomach-wrenching nervousness and the occasional feeling, or realisation, that something, or rather
something else, is happening elsewhere.
The biggest game in American club soccer history takes place in Sandy, Utah, tonight, when Real
Salt Lake tries to hold on to or build off of its 2-2 draw at Monterrey in the second leg of the
CONCACAF Champions League final at Rio Tinto Stadium (10 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel/Telefutura).

Over a full half with a man advantage.
18 full minutes with a two-man advantage.
One stoppage time goal, and one point.
These are the statistics of failure. An 11 vs. 9 advantage should result in total dominance or,
at the very least, a one-goal victory. Instead, it culminated in a tense 1-1 draw that looked like
to be a horrible loss until the 3rd minute of stoppage time when Ilija Stolica saved New England
the ignominy of having to explain why they couldn't score a goal against nine men.
Last week the Prelimiary Round of the CAF Champions League was completed. 23 sides from across
Africa will now join the 9 seeds in the First Round proper that kicks off on the weekend of the
19th March.
It's been a turbulent time in Africa for many of the North African teams involved in the
competition.
Well, who'd have predicted victories for both Arsenal and Spurs in the Champions League
at the beginning of this week?
It's easy to be wise after the event and regret not putting money on the games, but with two
weeks to go before the return legs it's worth taking a look at what might happen as well as taking
advantage of any free bets that might be available.
BOLTON Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda, Nicolas Anelka and Ramires were all on target as Chelsea
ended their miserable run of away form with a 4-0 victory at Bolton here on Monday to keep alive
their dim hopes of the Premier League title. Carlo Ancelotti's side had fallen away from contention
for the title with [.
