I woke up this morning to Josh Mayers of the Seattle Times reporting that the LA Galaxy had
managed to secure Leonardo on a free transfer and they got Juninho back on a free loan.Suffice it
to say that my initial response was not fit to print.
The top of the LA Galaxy roster boggles the mind.
Coach Tozer thanks the fans after his 700th victory. By: Brandon Arendt
On a day that saw literally everything go Milwaukee's way, history was made. Wave Coach, Keith
Tozer, became the first coach in American Soccer to reach a historic 700 victories. All on the legs
of a dominating 25-10 performance by the Wave over Syracuse.
Yesterday's Group D action between Ghana and Botswana and Guinea and Mali capped the end of the
first round of fixtures in the Orange African Cup of Nations. Both Ghana and Mali scooped points
each after winning their matches by slender 1-0 margins.
It is quickly emerging that no team can be underestimated.
In soccer (or football, as it is called in the majority of the world), most individuals on the
field are only able to touch the ball with their legs, chest and head. Arms and the hands are
completely off limit, as it is easier to direct the ball with the assistance of hands. Outside of
throw ins after the ball goes out of bounds, the players are not able to touch the ball with the
hands, outside of the goal keeper.
With the debate over Manchester United's first-team goalkeeper raging ferociously, this author
steps back and lets the statistics do the talking. Bereft of self confidence and devoid of

Former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehman expressed delight at seeing both Manchester sides eliminated
from the Champions League on Wednesday but was more happy with league leaders City's failure to
progress to the next stage.
According to Lehman, City play very boring football and deserved to be dumped out of the
competition.
That Locomotive called Arsenal was back on track today charging once again towards the top of
the table. After frustratingly slowing down at Fulham last weekend it was full steam ahead up north
to Wigan to pick up what turned out to be an easy three points.
The players exuded superiority from the moment they stepped onto the pitch.

Marcio Leite Celebrates a Goal

The Milwaukee Wave cemented their hold on the Central Division lead with a convincing 24-18 win
over the Missouri Comets in the US Cellular Arena. Milwaukee remains the only unbeaten team in the
Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) improving to 5-0, while the second place Missouri Comets fell to
4-3 and are now two games behind the Wave.
6 Togolese players were killed in an unfortunate accident on Saturday after the bus they were
travelling in plunged into a ravine and exploded into flames. This is the latest tragedy to affect
the footballing fraternity in the Western African nation after their after yet another attack on
their team bus by armed gun men in Cabinda in January 2010 left team members and officials
dead.
Yesterday, during the l-o-n-g wait for the announcement of the MLS teams' protected lists, I
tweeted that I expected the Philadelphia Union to protect the following players: Faryd Mondragon,
Danny Califf, Carlos Valdes, Sheanon Williams, Gabriel Farfan, Sebastien LeToux, Brian Carroll,
Roger Torres, Danny Mwanga, Michael Farfan, and Freddy Adu.
Don Garber spoke to reporters today to announce the league's best XI and talk a bit about the
2012 season. The only Seattle Sounder named to the Best XI was goal-keeper Kasey Keller. Keller, in
his final professional season, anchored one of the league's top defenses. He led all league
goalkeepers with 18 wins and made a career-high 110 saves.
Tottenham's Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes could be on his way out of the club after he had
a ugly altercation with coach Harry Redknapp. Apparently, this latest burst up comes as a result of
built up tensions between the player and the coach dating back to Tottenham's opening league
fixture against United in August.
My pick for the play of the week is not a goal, it is for Sevilla goal keeper Javi Varas great save
vs. Lionel Messi in the last minute of a 0-0 tie. The save was excellent in technical measures.
But, what made me pick it is the tremendous pressure as it was 0-0 and in Camp Nou .... and it was
against Lionel Messi.
What Went Wrong for Liverpool Against Norwich - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Kenny Dalglish unleashed an attacking lineup versus Norwich still Liverpool were only able to
gain a single point from the game. Liverpool had many opportunities in a frenzied contest, but just
could not see off the challenge and for worst they conceded.

With most of the playoff spots spoken for, the final week of MLS is sure to be
unpredictable.
Coaches are more likely to rest key players, which makes picking a fantasy team very difficult.
Since lineups lock for MFLS on Wednesday, you will have to set your lineup with some uncertainty
this week.
Arsenal's performances in this early part of the season maybe inconsistent but they still have
several top notch performers on the pitch and young goal keeper, Wojciech Szczesny, is undoubtedly
one of those who have been playing very well so far.
Already receiving the status as one of the club's important players, Szczesny apparently has an
ambition to become the club's captain in the future as the Poland international believe he is ready
to take responsibility in the squad.
The Timbers training yesterday was fairly straight forward. After warm ups concentrating on
checking toward a player to receive a pass, the Timbers broke into a three team game with the top
scorer and best defender being bought lunch by Coach Spencer.
Omar Jasseh continued his trial with the team, combining well with other players several times
during practice and generally looking very slick with the ball.
Despite some sub-par play against the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday, there were high hopes
for the Portland Timbers' playoff chances coming into the weekend. However, only a few days later
and the Timbers have lost ground on the pack with all three of their main playoff rivals
winning.
Failing to score an open net in Chelsea's last match against Manchester United, grows again
people's doubt on Fernando Torres' ability to regain his old form considering that the miss chance
could always dropped the striker's confidence once again.
However, that theory is being disagreed by the Blues' main goalie, Peter Cech, who urged people
to refer their judgment more on the performance that Torred did against United instead of the bad
finishing he made.
Even the Daily Mail had to be pleasant about Spurs in the wake of our 4-0 win over Liverpool at
the weekend and this morning the paper has started a story linking the club to a move for Swiss
goal keeper Eldin Jakupovic.
Jakupovic currently plays his football in Greece but after his side Olympiakos Volos were
relegated to the lower tiers of national football following match fixing allegations, all of their
players have become available on free transfers.
Aek got this seasons campaign underway, even if a week late, with all 3 points at a crowd less
OAKA on Sunday night.A beautiful goal from Grigoris Makos on 31 min, after a great through ball by
Belleck, was the only difference after 90 min.
Ergotelis started the stronger and really could have led by 3 goals after 20 min if it wasn't for
an MVP performance by Arambatzis.
The Colorado Buffaloes winless streak stretched to five games on Friday, but CU nearly snatched
a win in a 2-2 draw with No. 22 Auburn in Denver.
Amy Barczuk and Caroline Danneberg each scored goals for Colorado, at CIBER Field in the first
match of the Denver Invitational on the DU campus.

Presenting quality football videos from the interweb, daily at 3pm. Here's today's collection:
1) Unbelievable Jeff! Gaping open goal, keeper out of the way and the perfectly weighted pass from
a team-mate to put you in less than 10 yards out.
Chelsea and Norwich City game today stopped for 11 minutes after Drogba fell unconscious after his
collision with the goal keeper. The way he fell was very painful to watch, he was hospitalized
directly and still under exams. Early results shows that nothing to worry, and we hope that he is
totally fine
When I saw the collision, I directly remembered a bit old incident, of the Saudi legendary player,
Majed Abdullah with a similar injury and a similar painful fall.
I have always liked the Gunners. In the not so long existence of this blog, I have gone from
unambiguous faith in the long-term vision of the club to the need to make some changes that would
help in making this vision come true. Of the 4 points I had recommended, so far 2 have
happened:
Buy a world class goal keeper.

Another game, another draw for the New York Red Bulls.
After not winning a game since July 6th, the Red Bulls desperately needed three points to stay
in the increasingly crowded Eastern Conference playoff picture. A match against the last place
Chicago Fire seemingly was that game, but New York let an opportunity and an early lead slip away
once again.
Series of very funny mistakes, that you wish that "the ground swallow you" as we say, and vanish
immediately
A keeper from Yugoslavia
Then a very old defender from a game in Greece back to 1976 (the first goal in this game). Oh my
God, just look into the players teammates, they wanted to kill him.

teams from the group B were eliminated from the semi finals. As India looks forward to meet
Pakistan again in the final, Nepal have to play against Bangladesh.
Above all I would say that we have finally found someone able to play the number nine role, this
was demonstrated perfectly by his Ian Wrightesque finish against Cologne after wearing the glorious
red and white shirt of Arsenal for just ten minutes. A sublime chip from Wilshere played inch
perfect for The Gerv to run onto and slide powerfully past the on coming goal keeper.
Being tagged as an 18 million pound youngster, doesn't automatically gives Manchester United's
new keeper, David De Gea a privilege to walk into United's starting line up as the team's manager,
Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that competition may yet happen in the goal keeper post.
According to Ferguson, there's no guarantee for the young Spaniard as the same chance on
becoming United's number one is also on the hands of Denmark's, Andres Lindegaard.
Losing two important players already in the summer transfer market, Aston Villa, finally started
to rebuild their team and the goal keeper position is the first area which they decided to start by
signing Shay Given from Manchester City.
The Republic of Ireland international goalie is always being considered as one of the best
keepers in the premiership and acquiring him is believed to be a great piece of business for
Villa.

CARSON, Calif – After battling a back injury for weeks, David Beckham woke up earlier this
week feeling pain free and ready to play.
The Chicago Fire found out the hard way just how ready Beckham was.
The Los Angeles Galaxy star set up a Landon Donovan goal before scoring a goal of his own on, of
all things, a corner kick to help lead the Galaxy to a 2-1 win over the Fire on Saturday night at
the Home Depot Center.
Dance. The essence of movement. The embodiment of rhythm. A fine, practiced discipline designed
for entertainment and expression. Football, it's own form of dance. Two teams, two styles. Style
deeply rooted in culture, passion, and attitude. An attitude that defines the way in which we play
and perform.
With about two months left in the transfer market, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will need to
show some life in making additional changes to the squad. So far there has not been much movement
in the acquiring of new players. The lone player to arrive at White Hart Lane is Brad Friedel, the
veteran goal keeper from Aston Villa on a free transfer.
Just as it was expected, after already having his medical on Monday afternoon, earlier today,
David De Gea has finally been officially confirmed as the new Manchester United goal keeper after
signing a five year deal with the Old Trafford outfit.
De Gea is the third signing already this offseason, following the earlier deals for Ashley
Young and Phil Jones, as Sir Alex retools his squad to mathc up better with Barcelona.
Just as it was expected, after already having his medical on Monday afternoon, earlier today,
David De Gea has finally been officially confirmed as the new Manchester United goal keeper after

De Gea followed the likes of Ashley Young and Phil Jones in becoming the new purchases made by

million pound already despite the transfer market window is still at an early stage.
A former South Korea goal-keeper has now admitted involvement in K-League match-fixing. According
to Ahn Gi-Heaon, the league's Secretary General, the player, now with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors,
admitted he engaged in match-fixing schemes last season when he was playing for Chunnam Dragons.
"The goal-keeper first informed his Jeonbuk head coach Choi Kang-Hee .
