Bad news. Our list of the fallen is now about as long as Peter Crouch's leg. The BBC so kindly
tells us that we're missing Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole, David James, Theo Walcott,
Emile Heskey, David Beckham, Aaron Lennon, Carlton Cole, John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Glen
Johnson.

The international break means there will be little club news to report. But it seems some sort
of groundwork is already being set in motion, with the transfer window a month and a half away.
Here's Schalke defender Marcelo Bordon, in an interview to German newspaper, Bild on
goal keeper, Manuel Neuer:
"I know it would be terrible for the supporters of the club, but you have to keep the situation
of the club in mind.

FC Barcelona has essentially put their Champions League qualification at risk by drawing against
the Russian champions. With this draw we stand at second in standing and have a chance to end the
night at third in overall standing if there is anything other than a draw in the match against
Inter and Kiev.

FC Barcelona squandered two points with a last second own goal from Pique to help Real Madrid close
the gap on top to one point. In a game where the defenses held their fort, Barca went ahead with a
strike from Keita in the 72nd mnute but they had to pay dearly for wasting a host of chances after
the goal.

Well it will have to if the big city of London has had the rainfall we have had here in
Berkshire!!
The Daily Telegraph, well the Belfast version reports Cesc has signed a pre-contract agreement
with Barca! Worried for a second, but then I saw the word ‘Adeybayor' in the same sentence you
know him, the one who feels he has the right to an opinion about us!

The big rumor of the day is Valencia's duo of David Villa and David Silva are heading to Old
Trafford. Manchester United plans to raid Spain as they are also linked with Villarreal's goal
keeper Diego Lopez. This comes straight after Valencia FC told David Villa - You can go your own
way. It is being said the United will pay £50m for Villa and his team-mate David Silva.

Sorry Vishwa. You're the man but still worth a try.
Some say he thinks Alex Ferguson is a swear word. Some say he has a bicycle kick that not even
Iker Casillas would have dared to stop. All we know is, he's called THE AQUAMAN.
- No Sir, not Carlton Parlmer
Sendros is quality I tell you.

1. A 2 Goal cushion is totally enough to kill off the game. We simply must stop letting teams
think they have a chance even when they're two down.
2. We need to buy a goal keeper. Almunia is inadequate, Mannone is too young, Fabianski is
scary and Sczesczny cannot get a jersey because the Nike cannot spell his name.

Not quite the humiliation we were hoping for but good enough. Arsenal started where they left
off against Blackburn: quick thinking, crisp passing, fast flowing football and being two up after
20 minutes was no more than we deserved. Van Persie scored what now must be viewed as his trade
mark goal; he seems to score in similar fashion in every game: the sublime take, the swivel and the
bullet like shot, hard and low along the ground, past the goal keeper, who, because of its speed is
unable to get down quick enough to do anything about it.

FC Barcelona's winning streak came to a hold at the Mestella, when they were held to a goal less
draw by Valencia. Actually Barca was lucky not to have lost the match, a combination of great goal
keeping by Valdes and some poor finishing by Valencia players prevented a Valencia win. Valencia
were the better team in both the halfs, especially in the first half.

So last year Canberra United coach Robbie Hooker went out on a limb and picked the youngest
captain, by about five years, in the Westfield W-League - Ellie Brush. This year Brush turned 21,
and as such won't be the youngest captain in the league, the new title goes to Brisbane Roar's new
leader Clare Polkinghorne, 20.

Less than two weeks out now, and woo hoo, another squad! So with Canberra United (who may still
have a few high profile names to come, and one that is very unexpected but exciting), the Central
Coast Mariners, Brisbane Roar and now Melbourne, we are at the halfway mark for teams.
So here is Melbourne, most back from last year including international Marlies Oostdam, who is
joined by two new international visitors, American Julianne Sitch (from women's pro soccer
champions Sky Blue FC) and Canadian Katie Thorlakson.

For the second time in a row, Atletico Madrid's visit to Camp NOu turned out to be a nightmare. But
it was better than last time, I mean they score one more and conceded one less too this time
around. With this heavy defeat Atletico's start to the season has gone from bad to worse. First
half goals from Ibrahmovic, Messi, Alves and Keita, and an injury time strike from Messi condemned
Atletico's to their heaviest defeat this season.

The Gold Coast Blue Rinse Set were hardly in this match. They appear to be suffering from taking
victories for granted. Although the real message is about their lack of tactical wisdom. CCM were
not great, the Blue Rinses were poor.
At last Shane Smeltz's on-field behaviour was called and he received a deserved 2 yellow red.

Mariners announced their 17 players this week. Canberra United also look set to start the season
with just 17. Each team is allowed to have 20. But anyway, it's enough to field a team and a bench
and thankfully, that's all that matters. Mariners 17 below, notable omissions from last year are
Kyah Simon and Ellyse Perry, although Perry didn't play many games due to her cricket committments
last year anyway.

FC Barcalona continued with their excellent start to the season with a 2-0 victory away at the
Coliseum Alfonso stadium in Getafe. Goals from Ibrahmovic and Messi took Barca to a not so
convincing victory against a tough Getafe side. This victory has taken us to the top of the table
and we will be looking to hold onto that top spot no matter what.

Kasey Keller is right on schedule:
The frustration continues! Once again we can't seem to find the back of the net. With
two big chances at the end to win the game and blow the roof off the stadium, we just couldn't make
it happen. Things could have been worse, we could have been down by three in the first
half.

Perth already have Lisa de Vanna, the source also said she's staying, so that could be the Matildas

Brisbane Roar and Canberra United in Queensland.

FC Barcelona looks like they will be al set to add their first silverware of this season at Camp
Nou next week after securing a 2-1 away victory at Sam Mames. With two away goals and a goal lead,
it looks pretty unlikely that Barca will falter in winning the title. Athletic Bilbao went ahead
towards the end of the first half but second half strikes from Xavi and Pedro secured Barca a
deserving victory.
