Tweet ban The Irish FA has handed a three-game ban to ex-Chelsea striker Leon Knight for comments
he posted on Twitter. Knight's often outspoken use of the social networking site has raised
eyebrows in the past. In fact, nobody is quite sure which comments in particular have landed the
Glentoran man in trouble.
Glentoran goalkeeping coach David McClelland nearly lost an eye after a
firework thrown from fans knocked a contact lens out before exploding in front of him in his sides
2-1 win over Portadown in a League Cup tie.

Glentoran goalkeeping coach David McClelland came about as close to losing an eye as is humanly
possibly when his contact lens was knocked out by a rogue firework that exploded in front of the
dugout during his side's Irn-Bru League Cup tie with Portadown (a fixture you may well remember
produced a storming goal from Matty Burrows last season) in Northern Ireland last night.
Blown out of the dugout The match between Glentoran and Portadown in Northern Ireland's Irn-Bru
League Cup (great sponsor) was on the verge of being abandoned last night after fireworks were
repeatedly thrown onto the pitch. One firework exploded near the Glens dugout, blowing a contact
lens from the eye of goalkeeping coach David McClelland [.

A wonder goal from Johnny Black helped Coleraine FC win their latest match at home to Portadown
FC in the Northern Ireland Premiership.
His goal helped restore parity to the game after the visitors took the lead through Kevin
Braniff in the fifth minute of the game. Following Black's wonder goal in the 17th minute Tim
Mouncey put Portadown back in front with just three minutes of the first half remaining only for
the home side to equalize in stoppage time through Shane Jennings.

Fredy Guarin, Porto
From the Guardian Despite the brilliance of Mattie Burrows's back heel volley for Glentoran and
Wayne Rooney's Twitter campaign, the winner of the 2010-11 European Goal of the Season was this
effort by Fredy Guarin for Porto v Maritimo, which came in with 47.2% of the vote (79,903 votes in
total).
The sixth edition of the all-Ireland Setanta Sports Cup, named after the Irish sports station,
kicks off on Monday with an expanded tournament and a different format. Twelve teams will compete,
six from Northern Ireland's Carling Premiership and six from the Airtricity League in the Republic
of Ireland, with four of those teams Crusaders, Glentoran, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers given a
bye into the quarter-finals.
Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo believe that this goal
from Glentoran striker Matthew Burrows against Portadown should have got the Goal of the Year at
the Ballon d'Or Awards night and not Hamid Altintops goal.
Not every day the Northern Irish league is in the spotlight, but was there a more audacious
strike in 2010 than this effort by Glentoran's Matty Burrows, which looks better on each
viewing...
Burrows' strike makes it to the ten best goals of the year chosen by FIFA, along with usual
suspects Messi, Neymar & Robben, plus Bafana Bafana's opening strike of the World Cup Finals:
* Here's one they missed, from Andrea Pirlo, as the Parma defence obligingly opens up.
