Inside Left 30 October @ 08:07 AM EST
Continuing our series of great Scottish players from days gone by through the medium of cigarette cards, we take a look back at the career of Bob McKay. Bob McKay only left Glasgow Rangers for Newcastle United in November 1926, but is already regarded as one of the most effective players Scotland has sent South. Click to continue reading...

Tangerine dream

Soccer Pie 30 October @ 02:26 AM EST

When somewhat forgotten Ian Holloway took Blackpool over this summer, few people believed that this charismatic motivator will do anything more than traditional and boring survival fight. The team from English popular summer resort on Lancashire coast have been in financial problems for a long time now and in the last few seasons they struggled to make the team for the Championship.

OMG I am part of the 60,943,912 block of humanity that owns 43.5% of Glasgow Rangers and nobody told me.
Disinvest me.
I don't wish to own any part of a stock that I would rather make a strategic short selling position upon.
This is a distressed stock.
All the playing staff are on the transfer list and it is rumoured that failed property developer, Sir Murray, was ousted from his eyrie by bankers. Click to continue reading...

Click to continue reading...

The Downside of Europe: Maurice Edu Edition

A More Splendid Life 22 October @ 07:59 AM EST
Could you imagine Marvel Wynne or O'Brien White getting racially abused in the BMO parking lot by a Toronto FC supporter? Not that I'm of the whole "there's no racism here, we live under Pierre Trudeau's beautiful multicultural rainbow where nothing ever goes wrong" school of Canadian self back-slappery, but let's just say if it happened, I suspect you would get headlines in every single national daily, weeks of op-eds about how racism persists in Canada, and anti-racist tifos in the south end that would make Dichio's tribute look like a bit of tissue paper. Click to continue reading...

Upsets rule the day in UEFA Champions League

Soccer Source 20 October @ 05:31 PM EST
In one of the most shocking UEFA Champions League matchdays in recent memory, no fewer than four of Soccer Source's Top 25 clubs were upset or had to settle for draws. The biggest, undoubtedly, was No. 1 Barcelona's fall from grace in a stunning 2-1 home loss to No. 23 Rubin Kazan. Few soccer fans had even heard of the Russian upstarts before the group stage draw, and the club appeared destined to fade from memory just as quickly when it lost at Dynamo Kiev on the first matchday. Glasgow giants prepare for Old Firm meeting

Soccer On Dish 02 October @ 07:01 AM EST

Scottish football may have fallen behind some of the other European leagues in recent years but no one can deny that the Old Firm is one of the hottest contested derbies in world football. Both Rangers and Celtic have a massive fan base who create an intense atmosphere and Sunday's Old Firm at Ibrox should be a tight and hard fought contest.

Barcelona 2 - Dinamo Kiev 0
Click to continue reading...

Champ's League roundup: (Most) favorites assert themselves

Soccer Source 30 September @ 03:34 PM EST
With one (Red) exception, all major favorites won their games in the Champions League's second round of group play. Then there was AC Milan, who have already struggled so much this season they barely deserve to be favorites of anything. Case in point: FC Zurich came away 1-0 winners from their visit to the San Siro today. Click to continue reading...

Down two goals after just four minutes, Arsenal mounted a furious comeback at Standard Liege to capture an improbable 3-2 victory on the second day of Champions League group stage openers Wednesday. “Come to Calabria”

Futebol bonito 08 September @ 05:16 AM EST
