The Portland Timbers U-17/18 squad fell in it's first competitive match on Saturday 5-0 at
Chivas USA (the U-15/16 team drew 2-2, but further information is not currently available).
The Chivas ‘Kids' saw goals from Julio Chavez (11'), Michael Gonzalez (66'), Romario Lomell
(53') and a brace from Daniel Moreno (19', 32').
Portland Timbers control the first half for 45 minutes and 30 seconds and get the first goal.
The 30 seconds they didn't control the game the Vancouver Whitecaps get a Corner on a dubious call
and of course they score. Portland did not let the late first half goal get them down and they came
out firing on all cylinders and got the go ahead goal.
The Portland Timbers reserves won their match up against the Oregon State Beavers today with a
score of 2-1. All three goal scorers were Timbers with Brent Richards and Franck Songo'o scoring
for the Timbers while U23's product Emory Welshman got on the board for OSU.

CAMAS, WASHINGTON - The Portland Timbers U23s (9-3-2, 29pts.) knew they needed to come
out and take control early, and that's exactly what they did.
That did not go as planned. For the first time in the MLS era, the Seattle Sounders lost to the
Portland Timbers. I wouldn't say the Sounders were outplayed, but I don't know that I'd say they
were clearly outplayed in many of these seven games that they've failed to win.
Rather, this was a hugely frustrating continuation of an incomplete game being followed by a
substandard result.
The Timbers front office announced that four Timbers players will be serving with their
respective national teams during the FIFA international break between May 23 and June 16. The
players mentioned in the press release were CB Futty Danso, GK Jake Gleeson, MF Lovel Palmer and MF
Rodney Wallace.
Because of the long break from MLS competition, neither Lovel Palmer nor Rodney Wallace will
miss MLS matches.
This U.S. U-20 WNT held its last training together today and now only a good night's sleep and a
few meals remain before the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Final against Germany at Tokyo National
Stadium.
It's has been quite a journey for this young U.S. team, one they have enjoyed tremendously and one
which has seen them grow as people and players across the entire cycle leading into this
tournament.
The training session today for the U.S. WNT consisted of a 90-minute closed-door scrimmage vs.
China as the team winds down its training camp in Princeton, N.J. Of course, the two teams will
meet for real on May 27 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., and with more than 15,300 tickets now sold for
that match, it should be a rocking atmosphere.
The U.S. U-17 WNT had two trainings today, but both were reasonably light, as the team zeroes in on
its CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship opener on May 3 against the Bahamas. The morning training
was at the ground of C.S.D. Municipal, perhaps Guatemala's most popular club, and several of the
Municipal players hung around for a few minutes after their training to watch the U.
Arsenal buy young GK by TS Evening Gooners. So after AW press conference one has the feeling of
dread that we will not be signing anyone this transfer period unless the player is, "Top, top,
top." Not sure how I feel about that or even if we should be concerned or not. I guess at [...]
I'll be tackling handing out season grades for the defensive unit as well as our midfielders
with more of a "holding mentality". Although one of these midfielders had 17 assists and I'm not
sure if the other has any idea of what his role in the midfield even is these days. But we will get
to that.

"We've suffered a lot of last-minute injuries but I think there are excellent players here to

The MLS Players Union has once again released their league-wide salary data. I always feel a
little awkward about this. How many other people have their salaries posted publicly? But hey, it's

Who knows if we'll ever see a fully fit Seattle Sounders team, but Saturday's match against Real
Salt Lake will be the closest they've been since the season opener. Of the outfield players not on
the disabled list, only Patrick Ianni is still dealing with significant health issues. His back
apparently acted up on the flight to Dallas and he's now undergoing an MRI to determine the
injury's seriousness.
Jeff Parke wasn't too thrilled about getting unexpectedly benched in April. So when the Seattle
Sounders center back earned his way back into Seattle's starting lineup, he didn't waste the
opportunity.
Parke manned the center this week for Seattle as the Western Conference club posted consecutive
shutouts this week against Los Angeles and Philadelphia, with the two clubs posting just two
combined shots on goal against Seattle.
247GK and GK Icon have announced their Fall program schedule. The sessions will be a six week program held on Friday nights. Training is set to start on October 5th and finish November 16th. U8 to U12 age group is from 7-8pm and U13 and older from 8-9pm. These sessions will take place at our indoor facility and weather will not be an issue.

The All-Conference team for the Small School Central Ozark Conference squad has been announced. The
Conference includes Branson, Carthage, Neosho, Nixa, Ozark, Republic and Willard. Voting is done by
the Coaches. Recognition for Conference, Regional and State awards is done by members of the
Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA).
Today, the MLS Players' Union released the player salaries for this year on their website. Once
again it's full of information regarding the player salaries for Sporting KC and the rest of the
teams around the league. The league has made big strides in making the salary of the players
improve and making a much more liveable wage for the players.
Word has it Klinsi could select as many as 29 players to for USMNT camp today, so it seems like a
