The long and winding road to recovery is for Giuseppe Rossi is nearly over.
Beset by multiple knee injuries and surgeries, the 26-year-old forward was named on Tuesday to the Fiorentina squad set to face Siena on Wednesday in Serie A action. Rossi moved from relegated Spanish side Villarreal to Florence in a €10 million transfer move last winter.
Good signing by Fiorentina who have picked up Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi for a reported €9.5m. The American born striker has signed a four-year deal reportedly worth slightly more than €2 million per season, plus bonuses.
The Viola confirmed on their website on Friday that they have reached an agreement with the Spanish club for the striker.
Fiorentina have confirmed in a statement that they have reached an agreement with Villarreal on a transfer for New Jersey-native Giuseppe Rossi.
Rossi has been out of action since an ACL tear in October of 2011. He returned to training in April of 2012, only to reinjure his right anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in six months.
If Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi hadn't suffered a long term injury then chances are that he would have finally made the move away from his current employers. Then again, if he had been regularly available maybe they wouldn't have been relegated and he would be staying put. After a miserable few months, the American born Italian [.
Santi Cazorla's brilliance for Arsenal may have finally caught up with the
Premier League Pack during their 2-0 victory over Liverpool yesterday, but the Spaniard was already
a 'crack' at Villarreal, where he fed Giuseppe Rossi
with many of the best assists in La Liga.
Santi Cazorla moved to Málaga at the beginning of the 2011-12 season. The fortunes of
Villarreal nose-dived culminating in relegation. Exactly the opposite happened at Málaga.
Relegation candidates in 2010-11, Málaga finished fourth in 2011-12, qualifying for the Champions
League for the first time in the history of the club.
Villarreal had a disastrous 2011-12 ending in an agonizing relegation to the 2nd division in the
dying minutes of the season. In 2010-11 Villarreal reached the semifinals of the Europa League and
finished 4th in La Liga to qualify for the Champions League. I focus on the performance of
Villarreal in the attacking third of the pitch in 2011 and compare it with that of 2010.
Villarreal had a disastrous 2011-12. They are relegated to the Spanish Segunda Division in the
dying minutes of the season.
The obvious question was "What went wrong?"
The easy answers are the exit of Santi Cazorla and the long-term injury to Giuseppe Rossi. But
that doesn't fully explain how a team that featured in the Champions League group stage could get
relegated.
Bad luck never seems to stop arriving for Villarreal striker, Giuseppe Rossi, this season as the
latest reports suggesting that he might need longer time to recover from his second ligament injury
from the previously predicted six months.
According to reports, Rossi will most likely rest for about 10 months because of his current
recurring injury because he apparently must get a second surgery after facing the first one last
Friday.

Once considered the best league of the world, nowadays Italian Serie A has lost part of its appeal and very often sees main players packing their luggage and move away. The reason? Chasing European trophies along, of course, the prospect of a better salary.
With the future of Didier Drogba still enigmatic, the name of Mario Balotelli comes back as main target, after Alexander Pato's departure. However, much will depends on selling Robinho to Santos, plus someone else in order to fund the purchase of the Italian striker.
When news broke last week of Juventus' reported interest in Giuseppe Rossi, it brought a lot of excitement to a fanbase desperate for an upgrade at the striker position. The American-born Italian was valued at over €25 million just two years ago, but multiple injuries and the relegation of Villarreal from the Spanish La Liga had seen his stock drop considerably.

Italian side Fiorentina have been building quietly these last two seasons as they look to start making a push back to the top of the Serie A in the coming campaigns. According to reports from Goal.com on Jan. 4, 2013 the club have just taken another major step in the right direction.
I would rather see Giuseppe Rossi on the pitch than see him as a commentator on ESPN. A zombie
would have more animation. ESPN put out a panel of Michael Ballack, Alexei Lalas, Giuseppe Rossi
with Bob Ley moderating to discuss the Italy vs Spain match.
Rossi as a US citizen, a NJ native, whose national ambitions saw him switching allegiance to
Italy became a polarizing figure.
As I mentioned before, I am not entirely convinced at the Azzurri's chances of success at Euro
2012. The squad has not enthused me during their qualifying campaign and although they retrieved
Antonio Cassano from injury, the absence of Giuseppe Rossi coupled with the unpredictability of
Mario Balotelli and still relative inexperience of Sebastian Giovinco makes me doubt the
goalscoring efficiency of Italy's strikeforce.

As the European Championship draws near, over the past week-end Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli
revealed his preliminary list of 32 players from which the final 23 who will be making the trip to

There were several surprises, such as newcomers Mattia Destro (Siena),
Emanuele Giaccherini (Juventus), and Ezequiel Schelotto
(Atalanta), but also "old-timers" who despite their vast amount of experience have not featured yet
under Prandelli's reign: Rubin Kazan defender Salvatore Bocchetti, Bologna's

Bad news for Villarreal and Italy as Villarreal have confirmed that Giuseppe Rossi has suffered
another cruciate knee ligament injury and will be out for a further six months on the
sidelines.
The Italy international was only just returning to full fitness after damaging his right knee in
October.
Just as he was on the cusp of potentially returning to action for Villarreal, Giuseppe Rossi
faces yet another long spell on the sidelines.
The New Jersey-born Italian international tore his right ACL for the second time in the last six
months during a training session and will be out for at least another six months, according to the
club's official website.
This is not something that you need see every day. A player publicly criticizing his agent. But
that is the case with Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi, who has criticised his agent Federico
Pastorello for suggesting that he may leave Villarreal this summer.
This has been a terrible season for Villarreal, who are usually in the race for a Champions League
spot, instead of being involved in a relegation battle.
Yes, I periodically have made jokes about Giuseppe Rossi opting to play for Italy. This
ridiculousness is quite another thing altogether. Now, I will "slap" the mess out of these people
using two extremely simple and irrefutable points:1 - Have you seen our roster lately?2 - Most
importantly, being an American precisely means that one is free to choose representing the native
country of one's
Liverpool is once again being linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba. The Sunday People claims Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to get Stewart Downing out of the club in an effort to free-up funds for strikers in January. Ba is one of the players on the Anfield transfer radar, according to the paper, along with Giuseppe Rossi, Wilfried Bony and Daniel Sturridge.
One of the transfer talking points in relation to Spurs in recent months relates to the future
of on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togolese made an instant impact in his first game,
scoring at Wolves and striking up a useful partnership with Jermain Defoe in attack.
Since then however, performances have been a little inconsistent but the Togolese gave us a
reminder of his undoubted talent with a man of the match performance in the 5-0 win over Newcastle
– scoring one and assisting with the other four strikes on the night.
He may not be the best defender. But, he has some experience, is a France international and, on
some days, he can be rather good. Yet, reports are circulating that Milan could be ready to ship
out Philippe Mexes to Arsenal in return for Nicolas Bendtner. It is not a joke; apparently the club
thinks [.
After banking €70 million from the sale of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, Milan are only
willing to spend €20 million of it and they are hoping that it will be enough to sign three new
players, at least according to Tuttosport. We wish them good luck with this; they will need it
considering some [.
He had become a forgotten figure of sorts. And, it was understandable just why. He barely played
for his club side, Villarreal, last season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in
October. And, it told. Without Giuseppe Rossi's goals up front, the Yellow Submarines could not
stay afloat as they were relegated from the Primera [.

Earlier today, Jurgen Klinsmann announced the first 16 players invited to the USMNT training camp
in Orlando in preparation for the upcoming slate of friendlies and the start of the next stage of
World Cup qualifying. Full roster announcement here. One glaring omission from the list is Timothy
Chandler, the German-American defender whom many US fans had pegged as the left back of the future
for years to come.
In less than a week, Europe's top international squads will compete for the European
Championship, a tournament that gives anyone in play the most random opportunity to win. Squads
full of top class players from around the continent will have finished up their club seasons, and
because everyone just spent a huge amount of time killing themselves to win UFEA or league titles,
almost every squad will have some players tuckered out and nursing some sort of an injury.
For anyone not familiar with the company called Panini, they don't make sandwiches, they make
football trading cards and stickers. Recently, they've released their 20 player Euro 2012 set,
effectively "calling up" 20 Italian players, even if Prandelli will actually call up 23. Glaring
omissions included Antonio Cassano and Giuseppe Rossi, since it was a race against time for them to
achieve match fitness.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly considering a gamble on Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi as he bids to solve his striker shortage in January. The former Manchester United man would be available for a relatively low fee, as he would not be available for selection until March at the earliest as he bids to recover from his second knee ligament injury.
The transfer of American born striker Giuseppe Rossi from Villarreal to Inter Milan looks set to be completed in the January transfer window according to reports from Italy.
Rossi is said to have already agreed to a four-year €14 million contract and all that is left is Inter and Villarreal to agree on the transfer fee.
