Goals of the Week: Giornata 11

The Offside: Italy 03 November @ 11:32 AM EST

A few nice goals this week, but nothing extraordinary. Giuseppe Mascara scored one of his trademark wonder-goals, and Marco Borriello got back on the scoresheet with 2 goals (the second a nice scissor kick) after almost a year. Diego Milito got back to his scoring ways as well after being absent through injury, and Mirko Vucinic finally scored his first goal of the season.

Samp make Spaghetti out of the Bolognese

SoccerLens 26 October @ 02:46 AM EST

Franco Colomba had been waiting by the phone for what seemed like ages. Then the call came, and he said: "Yes". He was back in the game. The Menarini family wanted him to become Bologna's fourth manager in under a year. Colomba turned to his wife and said: "From this day forward you can call me ‘mister' again.

Calciopoli: abbasso le donne!

GolBlog 25 October @ 08:41 AM EST

Donne incompetenti

Click to continue reading...

Calcio, Serie A: Inter-Napoli è sfida argentina.

Missing names from U-20 squad

Project 2010 29 August @ 10:28 AM EST

Bryan Arguez. Giuseppe Nazzani. Vincenzo Bernardo. Am I the only one who doesn't think NCAA soccer is a step up from training with professionals and playing in Italian/German youth leagues? I can't help but wonder which one of these kids is going to elect to represent another country because of Rongen's latest snub.

Polygraph against doping

Soccer Pie 19 August @ 04:19 AM EST

Siena management decided to introduce some novelties in their doping control. Actually each player will take a lie detector test before the control. This is the first such example in European football and if this proves useful, other big leagues will certainly use this method too.

The players will have to prove through a lie detector that they weren't been abusing stimulating substances.

Transfer Tuesdays - Volume 6: Eto’o has arrived, another American will arrive

The Offside: Italy 28 July @ 06:01 PM EST

Before we dive into Serie A transfer news, I just want to report on a transfer from Serie B that as fairly important, which was Torino's Alessandro Rosina signing for Zenit St. Petersburg. Nobody expected a player with Rosina's talent to stay in Serie B, but the move to Russia seemed a little surprising, however it makes sense.

Bologna. Mihajlovic esonerato, in arrivo Papadopulo

Click to continue reading...

The Champ is Here

Premiership Talk Blog 06 April @ 11:07 PM EST

At long last, Tuesday April 7th is here. Yes, it's Chelsea youngster Franco di Santo's birthday.

Okay, that's not why you're here, and it's not what I'm excited about. The Champions League quarterfinals are finally here. Funny enough, less than 50% of the teams remaining are "champions," while only a few of the other competitors are even in the hunt for a domestic title this season.

Becks Opens Account in Style

Premiership Talk Blog 25 January @ 11:35 AM EST
Former England captain David Beckham was once again the talk of the town in the Italian Serie A as he scored the first goal of his Milan career against Bologna just moments ago. Beckham, on loan to the Rossoneri in a bid to impress England's Italian manager Fabio Capello, arrived at the end of a Clarence Seedorf pass and struck beautifully into the top corner from the right side of the box.
