Following the Manchester massacres, Spurs finally got their season up and running with an

the Italian's book and started to think seriously about player swaps.
By adopting this strategy we don't have to spend a fortune on transfer fees, and we don't risk
scaring off potential buyers every time we quote a transfer value for one of our players.
With every passing day of the close season it's becoming increasingly apparent that Spurs won't
be completing any major deals until we clear some of the unwanted players from our books.
The reality is that Spurs simply pay average players too much in wages and so when it comes to
transferring our misfits from the club, it's no surprise we can't get rid of them.
So the unthinkable now seems inevitable, and Chelsea will probably get their man.
It pains me to say this, as I really do believe that Luka Modric is irreplaceable. Having
watched the little maestro dictate the play of games at the Lane on many occasions, it's
understandable why Spurs don't want to sell the Croatian international and it he will certainly be
a great asset to an ageing Chelsea squad.
