Yesterday we looked at the possibility of new arrivals at White Hart Lane and the general
consensus was that we were due for a quiet day. Later in the evening, reports suggested that Vedran
Corluka was a target for Bayer Leverkusen and they seem to be gaining momentum this morning.
At the start of the month, Harry said that the Croatian would definitely not be leaving but
after omitting him from the cup games where much of the fringe side appear, it may well be that
Charlie is on his way.
Assistant Kevin Bond was giving little away in terms of team news yesterday while he did confirm
that there were injury doubts over Scott Parker, Younes Kaboul and Gareth Bale,
"Younes missed training on Wednesday, while both Gareth and Scotty had to come out of training
early with slight muscle problems," he said.
The frustrating Tottenham career of Giovani do Santos could finally be coming to an end in this
transfer window with reports of interest from Spain and from Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle. Gio
hinted at his potential again this month, albeit against Cheltenham, and after the game manager
Harry Redknapp hailed his talent while giving an insight into why the player has barely featured at
the Lane.
Many of Spurs' fringe players have been linked with a move away from the club and generally
speaking, rumours about possible departures for the likes of Vedran Corluka and Steven Pienaar have
been met with a clear ‘no' from Harry Redknapp.
That hasn't been the case with Gio Dos Santos however and after the manager is believed to have
vetoed a last minute move in the summer, it now seems that he is finally prepared to let the
Mexican go.
Spurs enjoyed a comfortable enough win over Cheltenham in the third round of the FA Cup on
Saturday and manager Harry Redknapp was quick to praise many members of the side. While Aaron
Lennon and Michael Dawson returned from injury, Niko Kranjcar impressed in a rare start and Jake
Livermore also caught the boss's eye as he filled in at right back.
The Europa League has given some good opportunities for some of our younger players to gain some
experience and the group games have probably been influential in the new contracts earned by Tom
Carroll and Jake Livermore last week.
It has also given some of our fringe players a rare chance to operate in the first team but with
European elimination looking likely, this could be the last chance for some of them to shine.
It's back to the second string tonight in a game where Spurs need to grab at least a point in
order to ensure qualification for the next stage of the Europa League.
The big news is up front where officially, Harry Redknapp has declared Roman Pavlyuchenko and
Gio Dos Santos to be ‘struggling' while in reality it seems likely that neither will make it.
When Giovani Dos Santos' proposed move to Sevilla was blocked by Spurs this summer, the Mexican
was anticipating more game time at the Lane as a result.
However, we are now half way towards another transfer window and that hope has yet to
materialise. At the time, Gio said,
"After such a long time without having any confidence in me I am now going to get my chance, which
makes me feel weird.
The main team news ahead of tonight's clash with Rubin Kazan is the likely return to action of
Aaron Lennon and Sandro. Danny Rose is another to make his long awaited return from injury and
Harry Redknapp is pleased, if a little cautious, to welcome them all.
"Danny is fit and he's fine now," said Harry.
Team selection for Sunday's match at Newcastle could go right to the eleventh hour with several
key players remaining a doubt for the game.
The biggest question is over Emmanuel Adebayor who is rated 50/50 at best following the
hamstring strain that he picked up in the win over Arsenal.
Yesterday we learned that Newcastle had an injury concern over free scoring Demba Ba ahead of
this Sunday's clash at St James's Park, but if any Spurs fans saw this as good news, that could be
tempered by the stories emerging that confirm Emmanuel Adebayor to be a big doubt for the
match.
Ade picked up a hamstring strain in our 2-1 win over Arsenal last time out and at best he is
rated as 50/50 for the Newcastle game.
Bem-vindo a Bootcamp Monday! We're almost reaching the end of this
month's edition as Brasil prepares to face Mexico in a friendly tomorrow. We know
there are many Mexican Futbolita readers, so if you'd like to say "OIII!"
to Mano's men, they're putting up at Hotel Camino Real, where a
churro or two would be most welcome if you'd like to slip past those buff security guys
(just kidding).
Harry Redknapp has already told us to expect some more experience in the Spurs side to face
Shamrock Rovers tonight and with players returning from injury, this should be the strongest team
that we have put out in the Europa League since our opening game against Hearts.
It also makes it harder to predict but we can assume that Carlo Cudicini will continue in goal
with Corluka and Bassong taking the centre half positions.
South Africa crushed regional rivals Namibia 87-0 their 2011 Rugby World Cup 2011 Pool D meeting in
Auckland on Thursday. Bryan Habana became the Springbok's all-time leading try when his score in
the 23rd minute of the match game took his all-time total to 39. Gio Aplon and Juan de Jongh scored
two tries apiece [.
There was one notable absentee from the list of deadwood that needed clearing in this summer's
transfer window but if you believe this morning's reports, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp blocked a
move for Giovanni Dos Santos, thereby preventing a deadwood ‘clean sweep'.
Gio was unavailable for much of Tottenham's pre-season campaign due to his international
responsibilities for Mexico, but despite some dazzling displays for his country, he hasn't been
considered for any of the club's opening games.
With several players still linked with Spurs as we head towards the last 24 hours of this
transfer window, it looks like being a far busier day for Tottenham than it was 12 months ago.
Meanwhile, there is much hope that some of the deadwood will be off the books and the first to
leave could be Wilson Palacios with news of an £8m deal to Stoke expected very shortly.

While Arsenal supporters are irate at Barcelona's penny-pinching over the transfer of Cesc
Fabregas, they should in fact be grateful to the Catalan club for the amount of income they are
responsible for over the last decade. Since 2000, Arsenal has generated €310m from the sale of
players.
Some quick thoughts on Klinsmann's debut as USMNT coach Wednesday night, against Mexico in
Philly:
1) I liked how the jerseys were stripped of names, and numbers were somewhat "randomly"
assigned. The message is something I loved doing when I coached: every spot is up for grabs, no one
is assured anything.
So how to feel about Wednesday's result in Philadelphia, where a tie felt like a win because: 1)
It came off a rally; 2) Because the United States was clearly better through the final 20-30
minutes, and; 3) Because the Americans didn't get run plum off the field, a la the Rose Bowl
roasting they took from Mexico six weeks back.
There was a bit of, ahem, intimate defending from Gary Medel in the Copa America the other
night, with Gio dos Santos the second dos Santos brother on the wrong end of a genitalia-based
indiscretion in the last week or so.
Unfortunately for Gio, as said before, it was Gary Medel, not a hooker.
Dennis Bergkamp's 3-1 is a beaut!
Yep.... It's hard. The most beautiful goal. I always scored them at practice. And that's the
essence too: a great goal in a insignificant match is not that cool.
Gio's drill against Uruguay, was in a World Cup semi finals!
Marco's volley was in the EC finals!

Things are always a little tense when the US play Mexico, and Saturday's Gold Cup final was no
different although the hostility was saved for after the final whistle, as two cameramen jostled
for the best shot of Gio Dos Santos flitting around with the trophy.
Sure we are three days late but this goal is worth the posting nonetheless. Is it the goal of the
summer? Have you seen a better play? It's Tottenham's youngster Gio dos Santos the Mexican of
Brazilian ... Continue reading →
US's StrategyOnce again in the tournament, Bob Bradley made surprising lineup and formation changes. Landon
Donovan and Freddy Adu replaced Sasha Kljestan and Juan Agudelo. Donovan and Adu played as left and
right striker respectively as Bradley reverted to a 4-4-2. Throughout the match, Dempsey and
Donovan swapped places.
While Harry Redknapp stated at the weekend that Spurs will have to sell before they buy, we'll
have a look this week at some of the fringe players in the squad and ask whether they should be
offloaded or whether they should be given one more chance to prove their worth at the Lane.
The most frustrating of this surplus stock has to be Giovanni dos Santos and at the weekend, the
player highlighted that perfectly once again.
GOLD CUP: Mexico outclass US - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Saturday night LA was draped in green as Mexico dominated the US 4-2 to claim the Gold Cup
finale. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead early the US looked to have a magic touch. But Mexico,
sensing weakness on the Yanks left side, unleashed their dangerous set of attackers and made the US
pay scoring four unanswered on their way to the Cup and a spot in the 2013 Confederations Cup
tournament.
Simply too tired, physically and mentally still upset about Mexico's 4-2 win over the U.S. in the
Gold Cup final Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Writing more on the game and what it
means going forward on Sunday morning, when my sanity is with me.Until then.Watch Gio Dos Santos'
1,000,000 point combo, straight-up owning the U.
This is for the spot in the Gold Cup final - the USA is there courtesty of their 1-0 victory over
Panama earlier today.
3 - Already Chicharito has threatened the Hondo goal. Not wasting any time, that one.
4 - Guardado is a beast, and his outside shot just now doesn't miss by much.

Examining the Gold Cup Group Stage: Who'll be alive June 18th? - originally posted on

With the Gold Cup starting Sunday with Costa Rica v. Cuba and Mexico v. El Salvador it's time to
take a look at the groups and peek at who are in line to earn the right to get to the knockout
stages.
"It's a 11 month holiday" was Trapattoni's damning verdict after Anthony Stokes pulled out of
Ireland's squad for the Carling Nations Cup. Gio couldn't understand Stokes' reason for not playing
and for him 'fatigue' didn't count as a valid reason.
Much the same way, England and more specifically Stuart Pearce couldn't understand that Wilshere
playing his first full season as a top flight footballer in the Premiership could also be
tired.
LONDON, England – Spurs' Giovani Dos Santos has joined Racing Santander on loan until the end of
the season. The Mexico international has made 20 appearances for the London club since signing in
June, 2008 from Barcelona, scoring once, and has also had loan spells with Ipswich Town and
Galatasaray.
